Please help with my fire/sd build

I have recently rerolled my fire/sr as a fire/sd just to give it a whirl and to have something different from my io'd kat/sr. I am a little iffy on the build so I thought I'd post what I have and let it get torn up by my favorite forum.
I am looking to make a single target monster with some limited aoe for farming the wall if needed. Obviously softcapped to all positions and trying to squeeze out as much recharge and regen as possible. I have aid self on my kat/sr and am kind of opposed to it on this character for concept reasons. The end of the build just sort of dies on me and I'm not sure where to go with it. I am not tied to grant cover or OWTS, so either could go if there is more functionality from something else. Any help would be appreciated in finding glaring weaknesses or errors. Money isn't really a problem either. Thanks.

You're not really softcapped (44.8% melee, 47.3% ranged and 41.6$ AoE) when you set Phalanx Fighting to zero allies.

Don't bother enhancing PF. It's a static 3.75% bonus to you when no allies are in range and slotting it won't change that.

Besides, NEVER SKIP TRUE GRIT. It's a 20% hp bonus fully slotted and some exotic resistance to boot.

I really wish my comp hadn't froze the other day when I was reworking purples into my build, because I basically came up with enough recharge (60-75% possibly) to drop hasten, and fit in Aid Self. It'll help your endurance bar stay in tact a bit longer, provide a heal when lucky shots get through, and of course will maintain softcapped defense. I'm gonna start remaking the build to see what I come up with, but I think for maximum self-reliability, dropping hasten in favor of Aid Self is a good thing.

Here's that Aid Self/ no Hasten build I mentioned above. It currently sits at ~49% melee, 47% ranged and 45% AoE def. This is the more cost-effective, practical build without purples. To include purples, you can just replace the Crushing Impact in GFS with Hecatomb, and you can replace one of the Obliterations with Armageddon. It'll put you at 10% more rchg than this build while maintaining softcapped def. If you can snag a PvP 3%+def IO, then that really opens things up even more. The build gets some nice +hp and a decent dmg bonus as well.

Forgive my ignorance, but why have I seen more than one person putting Membrane Exposures into Active Defense? There is no defense component in AD, is there?

AD defense provides defense debuff resistance so by slotting Enzymes or Membranes you can improve it's recharge, endurance usage, and Debuff resistance. My goal usually is to double stack it.

because the def enh values have a direct effect on your DDR ... i'm assumeing cyto's would do the same ... what i'm wondering is if enzy's would yield a larger return ... anyone know off-hand?

This is my intended build for my Fire/SD.

If I can stop making alts. Damn Corrupter!

It does fall just shy of the soft cap for Ranged and AoE. The open slot in Tough is for the Glad unique. I also can't quite get AD double stacked permanently but that's ok really. My experience with /SD on Saint has shown me it's not really needed all the time. The build also avoids Hasten (so endurance recovery is very strong here. I believe I calculated he could run his attack chain for 17 minutes uninterrupted but also why AD can't be double stacked perma ). Also includes Aid Self and is good with accuracy too.

I believe Enzymes do yield a larger return, yes. Of course you're not moving towards double stacking AD with them since they won't enhance recharge.

Possibly but then you'd be losing out on the recharge which is sort of the main reason you'd want to slot membranes.

As for a money is no object build, I'd go with something like this. Empty slot in True Grit is for the pvp 3% defense IO which puts you at 45.2% to all. Attack chain is Incinerate -&gt; GFS -&gt; Cremate while Hasten is up. If it does drop in combat just toss a Fire Sword on the end of that for a few chains until its recharged again. Incinerate and Cremate are frankenslotted a bit to pack more endurance reduction in. This build was basically something I threw together to see if I could get attack chain EPS low enough to drop CP and still be fine. It's almost low enough but that's not including Active Defense, Hasten, or Build Up so you'll still probably want it. Note that I did the calculations assuming I had the Atlas Medallion and Portal Jockey boosting my max endurance.

I'm a bit surprised by the number of people willing to ditch aid-self/hasten for CJ.

I'm still striving for the 'perfect' combo that allows my FM/SD to have Hasten + CJ + Aid-Self, but between losing a self-heal or the (big) DPS loss of Hasten then CJ was the one who had to go.

I sorely miss it, especially as I do a fair bit of jumping around, but losing Aid-Self wasn't an option and Hasten is too useful considering it shaves about 15 seconds off Shield Charge and BU.

If I ever earn enough for a PvP 3% def it'll give wiggle room to slot differently, but until then I'm 2% shy on AoE defense and perhaps half a second for my goal of doing two FSC in one BU.

If I ever manage to reach that goal I'll probably ditch BoF for GFS, but again, until then I can do a BU + FSC + SC + BoF that leaves +1 bosses at half HP and suits me more than the 10% DPS increase of switching Scorch.
