    DM Attack Chain

    [ QUOTE ]
with i16 on its way, I would just hold on to that fire/shielder... DM is just crap...

    [/ QUOTE ]

For groups, undoubtly. I was trying the same mission my FM/SD was blazing through and the difference is noticable. It wasn't bad before they 'fixed' cones but with that patch getting five mobs in the cone is a lot harder, the dancing around the spawn helps but it's no longer even close to the same thing. Then again I'm fight ranged mobs, maybe meleers would follow more closely making them easier to get into range.

So yeah, hard hitter, self-heal freeing a pool, nice toys, ease to softcap that leaves the attacks open to be slotted as wishing, instead of locking them with Makos of ToD, a hard hitting cone that can get three mobs easy and recharges in 3 seconds.

Just, in a big team, or against a big spawn it is slow-ish.

True, manouvers is hardly needed and if you're slotting purples it's not like cash is a problem.

Here's my build, I was wondering if it could be improved, I'm 0.20 of a second shy of optimal recharge for MG. I tried switching to a recharge IO but it goes to 4.56, so still shy off and with a loss in acc and endurance.

Btw, can HOs be merged like SOs? How do those +3 HOs come to be anyway?

  3. The only thing that turns me off from the DM/SD is how I feel a bit of a dead weight in a team.

For solo it's great, I can dance around a spawn and line them for SM, a SM that if propperly charged slams them for 600 damage. But once I get in a team, agro split, more mobs hindering my dancing, team mates on the way, then SM's usefulness goes down in the slumps and I can find myself hitting two mobs at best.

It's left me pondering that since I already have CP and FA anyway, I could shuffle things and get Energy Torrent instead of SM. But SM does recharge in 2.48 seconds and does 315 (according to Mids) while Energy Torrent recharges in 9.54 and does 145. Triple the recharge for half the damage? Even hitting more mobs with a slotted range of 46.4 it's still quite a trade off and I shy away from it.
  4. Coming from someone who soloed four at once I wonder how people with aid-self manage to do more than one AV at a time.

I mean, I like defense, but I still get hit, and AVs regen at such a rate that so much as pausing to sneeze is a recipe to watch that HP go up.

Your post on how you soloed the AVs made me itch for a regen despite never having played one in the two years of being about.
  5. ... after two years of being around CoH.

Infernal was a no no on the FM/SD, had to push it down to an EB. Then I went for Chimera, but he's the usual.

Shadowhunter was the annoying one. At first I brought a huge mass of minions to power my AAO, but their damage and the ocasional AV hit quickly floored me. Then I tried with just 4, he still floored after a couple quick shots.

So I went to get him on his own. Once he popped Dull Pain it slowed down to a huge crawl, gawd, I was barely scratching him.

I stopped at Nightstar, she was slowly being whittled down but by then I was starting to look askance at the poor character. Aid Self is just... so... damn... clunky! The huge delay in animation and it barely moves my HP bar up (or so it seems).

Ah well, she took me down but my spirit was gone. I went back to look at my DM/SD. It's still my favorite character with FA and Dark Consumption, a choice between SS or SJ, the built in damaging heal that comes back every 4 seconds, etc.

It's only real flaw is the lack of AoE which the patch to fix the cones didn't help one bit. It's not built at all to slap big spawns but I like it more than I do the FM.
  6. Aw man, I kept reading it as a forum merge with EU and US. I was looking forward to stop making trial accounts to be able to post here.

EU forums are nice and all, but leaning very to the social.. and very little in numbers and game aspect.
  7. I used to be so much of a WP lover that after my Nth WP character my friends were starting to go that my favorite character would be a WP/WP/WP.

Now that role has been firmly dislodged by SD.

That build a few posts above has some sweet stuff in it. Granted my WP scrapper has a 75 HP regen per second with one mob around, but all the extra heals and that godmode that is actually used (I've always skipped mine on my WPers, I felt a purple did the same effect) make it seem much more interesting to play.

Then again I don't know if simply working Aid Self into the build wouldn't be good enough, though softcapping would be insane, basicly SR defenses with uber regen and HP looks like godly.

The few regen I played were only to 20, I found them way squishy though it's tempered with experience now. Whatever scrapperr I play (defense based above all) is truly squishy at least until Tough/Weave has been fitted in.
  8. Ok, I dug through my characters and found the Fire/WP, turns out I hadn't deleted it after all.

The chain I used was Cremate - Incinerate - GFS with about one second gap for GFS to be up with Hasten running. The build was never finished, I never got around to slot with Crushing Impacts of level 50 nor put the LotGs in, so that one second gap might've gone down a few tenths of a second.
  9. I thought so too. I guess I was doing a Incinerate - Cremate - GFS - Cremate chain. I do remember it was with just those three attacks and that it was gapless. The numbers still don't seem to add up though, but I'll check it once it's all slotted and running.
  10. Somewhat related, considering BU activation times in the mix, what sort of recharge would be needed to fit two Fire Sword Circle in one BU? I think as it is i'm half a second short, but I'm not factoring BU activation.
  11. I'm getting a bit lost between recharge times and animation times, but I'm trying to see if this has enough recharge to do the incinerate - cremate - GFS chain.

I kind of remember my Fire/WP doing that chain when hasten was up, but I was reading this thread and my memory must be faulty because it's not gapless as I remember by the recharge times I have in my saved build (I've deleted the character unfortunatly). I have nearly the same times (a few twentieths of a second less here and there).

Then again perhaps I was doing Incinerate - Cremate - GFS - Cremate... Hmm. I know it was a three attack for sure, so no Scorch or FS in the mix.

  12. I'm a bit surprised by the number of people willing to ditch aid-self/hasten for CJ.

I'm still striving for the 'perfect' combo that allows my FM/SD to have Hasten + CJ + Aid-Self, but between losing a self-heal or the (big) DPS loss of Hasten then CJ was the one who had to go.

I sorely miss it, especially as I do a fair bit of jumping around, but losing Aid-Self wasn't an option and Hasten is too useful considering it shaves about 15 seconds off Shield Charge and BU.

If I ever earn enough for a PvP 3% def it'll give wiggle room to slot differently, but until then I'm 2% shy on AoE defense and perhaps half a second for my goal of doing two FSC in one BU.

If I ever manage to reach that goal I'll probably ditch BoF for GFS, but again, until then I can do a BU + FSC + SC + BoF that leaves +1 bosses at half HP and suits me more than the 10% DPS increase of switching Scorch.
