Yes it is typical. Those that cannot make an effective arguemnt tend to use different tactics beyond the realm of normal logic and reasoning.

OP asked about speed of killing, not the most difficult to kill. No one disputed that stoners were difficult to kill. We were disputing that a set with -65 recharge penalty would not kill as fast as other sets without said penalty.
No one disputed that the penalty could be overcome. Just that the same amount of efort overcoming said penalty applied to other sets would benifit the OP better than using stone. Perhaps you should try your own advice and work on your reading comprehension.

The normal way "figure of speech" is used is as a label for commonly used phrases that don't make literal sense like "I caught his eye from across the room."

as you can see, /stone armor wasnt one of the armor's he doesnt want. If he wishes to walk into a group of enemies and have them die, then we need to know what he will be fighting. thus the reason for my original post SS/stone armor for bosses.. because that can give you survivability to WALk into a group of bosses... its a little harder to FARM bosses. Thats why i also suggested SS/SD for LT's. Because /SD will be quicker against LT's but much less survivable against bosses. sure it can be done.. i do it on mine.. but its harder.

Stone Armor is not what I would recommend for entry-level farming, and that appears to be what the OP is seeking. Further, when farming, survivability is only important to the degree that you can avoid faceplanting. The priority must remain AoE damage output. This is what Stone Armor tends to reduce without significant investment. Therefore, Stone Armor is the last set I would recommend the OP.
That's not to say it isn't worth playing of farming with. It's just that a SS/WP is going to work great with just SOs, unlike a turbostoner, which needs quite a bit of investment to sustain itself. Given the current market prices, I would place a good turbostoner build around 2 billion inf easy. (5 purple sets, 3 lotg 7.5s). I can't in good conscious recommend a /stone brute to the OP.
Furthermore, in AE a SS/Fire brute against fire bosses will outpace a SS/Stone in the same map. Even a SO build might do ok.

For all we know the OP made his choice and has been happily playing his character while we bicker, LOL.
But for anyone else still reading this, I wanted to emphasize there's really important factor that is easily overlooked: budget. If you don't have a lot of funds to invest, WP is a very strong contender. In fact, the only thing I really dislike about WP is that its taunt aura is pathetic. Most may not care but that annoys me a great deal. 
If you build a Stone just using normal IOs, be prepared to live with its limitations, learn to TP in combat, and build a Friends list full of Kins. As has been said in this thread, you can build a fast-running Granite character with lots of +recharge, but it's costly.
Similarly, you can build a Shielder with just generic IOs but honestly the WP will outperform it pretty much from 1-50. IMO it's only when you really layer on the +Def to softcap it that it goes from mild to wild.
I think we've beaten this to death. But as with many decisions in life, this one way come down to budget!
