Had a decent team, a bit stronger on damage. Plant emp controller (me), stone tank, two rad defenders, two scrappers, two blasters. We just could not take down the towers.

So, nothing in particular to deal with the insta-heal repairmen?

We were wondering - has anyone tried endy draining the towers? I've been on runs before where we've had them drained to nothing on endurance, but I can't for the life of me remember if they were still spawning repairmen or not because it wasn't important to those runs. I do know it's possible to drain them though.

Teik was wondering if they have a regen to floor; we know from Hami raids that if Hamidon floors our regen, it's hard for our own heals to do much good. His is admittedly out there ...

I just woke up 8p
Ive seen the towers drained of end and still pump out the repairmen. And its not the -regen its the -special that will effect your healing ability. There are very few sets in the game that have -special. Its like the oppisite of power boost that will boost the ammount one can heal. umm i know /poison has it in one of its debuffs if you need a point of referance as im having a hard time describing it.

From what I've observed, the repairmen do these two things upon spawning: 1) spawn animation 2) immediately queued (uninterruptable) heal. Since the repairmen spawn in trios with a half-second delay (à la gang war) and essentially joust, the heal is staggered and nearly humanly impossible to prevent reactively. But pets, pseudopets, and mez auras should yield better results in theory. The goal would be to incapacitate or neutralize the repairmen while animation #1 is just beginning to ensure no jousting.

Promising options: earthquake/ice slick/ice patch (knockdown patch), repulsion field/repel/bonfire/tornado (knockback field, but not hurricane/force bubble), volcanic gases/choking cloud/oppressive gloom (hard-mez), telekinesis/singularity/liquefy anchored on the tower (mixed).

'Maybe?' options: spectral terror/cloak of fear/etc. Fear mez is ambiguous visually, and feared critters are not locked down. I haven't been able to observe their effects satisfactorily.

Of course, knockback has always been iffy during tower phase, but depending on the team, it might be worthwhile to employ it with vigilance. Knock effects add a new buffer animation, which might buy enough time for player reflex and AoEs/pets to finish them off.

As for -heal, cold domination has it in benumb, but it's a long-recharging single-target power, and repairman heals are marked unresistable. >=(

Thoughts?

given the animations we see are client based from a server side communication we need to overcome the potential for network lag to work against the team in reliably hitting the interrupt portion of the repairmen pretty much on spawn in.

does such a gap exist?

to date i've seen repairmen fall over when a 'long lasting' aoe is present on the spawn point, and the interrupt moment AND a damage tick coincide. so far, i've seen that work about 10% of the time, but that's obviously no where near enough.

overlapping multiple 'long lasting' aoe's whether toggle or click (burn comes to mind) with enough of an offset to have as many damage ticks occurring across as much time as possible could, conceivably ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2y8Sx4B2Sk ), overcome.

is it likely? nooooooo idea.

From the other MSTF thread, I posted the following report of our attempt on Saturday. Note we used a number of AoE and rad powers that should have had some effect, but didn't.

[ QUOTE ]
On last night's MSTF attempt, we had 2 rads. One was running toggles on LR (helping the emp and tank) and I was running mine on the tower along with choking cloud just to see if this would help at all. Even with choking cloud mixed in, it did not keep the repairmen from healing immediately.

We had 2 scrappers, 1 defender, and 2 blasters on the tower. One of the scrappers was spines with quills running. We also had rain of something (can't remember which it was). Three people had AoE attacks of energy and fire.

At first we could only get the tower to halfway before the repairmen would bring it back up to 3/4. Then we had the second rad come back to the tower to help and could only get to a little under 1/4.

That was the most annoying thing ever. We had a good damage and good overall AoE action that would be torn through the pre-15 set up.
