I make my own binds... they are far more specific and precious than the Battlecry...

I usually make binds for that kind of thing as well but back years ago when I toyed around with the battlecry field in the ID screen it seemed like it did have a fairly small amount of space available. Having only 19 usable characters sounds just about what I remember for it. Now that I think about it that's probably one reason why I got into the habit of making my own binds. 
As far as your empty bio saying '3/1024' it's probably counting some ending CR/EOF type control characters against our total. I've spent many bio writings bumping up against the max limit and we've never really had exactly 1024 characters available. There have always been a few characters lost to that kind of thing and now that we have the counter those lost characters are probably just showing up that way.

[/ QUOTE ] My test shows that a blank bio should show 0/1024. The funny thing is that it ends at 1023/1024.
You are right, control characters do count. If he is showing 3, he probably has 3 line breaks, which would still look like the box is empty.
Edit:
While putting my real bio back into place, I noticed a bug.
Copy/Pasting, or deleting highlighted text results in the counter showing an incorrect value...
..but all you have to do is type something again to fix it, or just close the window.
It will be correct when you reopen it.
I am sticking with my initial guess that he has 3 "Enter" in the bio.

Yeah, I tend to just place various sayings into my bind file. I always have EditPlus+ open while I'm playing, so I can change my binds on the fly.

The bio screen starts at 0/1024, but I have experienced a case where I edited it, deleted everything, and it was stuck at 3/1024. I thought maybe there was a space or an enter, but I used all the arrow keys and clicked all over the place and hit delete and backspace a lot. Nothing moved the cursor to another position or line; nothing decreased the character count. An empty bio was counted at 3 characters.
I team with the Repeat Offenders.
You can "fix" that by pressing ctrl+a (select all) then pressing, say, "a" to overwrite everything and it comes out with 0 characters (I found a way to have any number of undeletable characters 
).

Thanks for the help everyone, the ctrl+a trick did indeed work, I think I had a few un-selectable hard returns from when I was using it to keep track of which praetorians I still needed. Although, I've had further issues with the character count after typing out my bio. But I'm just happy to be able to properly space it out again that I can deal with a few missing characters.

Does anyone know what the maximum character length of the battle cry field in the ID screen is supposed to be? I seem to be able to type 29 into it, but it always gets truncated down to 19 after clicking the "enter paragon city" button.
I know that it's just as easy and far less limiting to bind something else to f10; but it seems such a waste to not use it.
My best guess is that it's as buggy as the rest of the UI on that screen. Seeing as I have NOTHING typed into my bio, but the character count shows '3/1024'
