So Virtue, what exactly am I supposed to be doing?

I cannot for the life of me find a team any more, Virtue. I go into all your fancy global channels and inquire there, I set my flag in the little team window, I broadcast. I join a Supergroup; nice people, I enjoy them, but they are all running around in 50s I cannot play with.

A month ago, this is not a problem. I take a short break, come back, and my daily experience consists of yawning, bored to tears as I solo through some instance I could care less about. It does not matter if I am red or blue, the experience is all the same.

What am I supposed to be doing, Virtue? 'Network', they say, so I friend people I enjoy playing with. Now my global friends list is 50 names, none of which I recognize and 3/4 of which are usually grey.

Yes, Virtue, I realize that I am whining and pissing and moaning. But when I cannot freaking team on one of two servers actually capable of reaching yellow, it is like I am banging my head against a brick wall and there is nothing left to do!

There. I am done ranting and will not bother you any more.

My thoughts exactly. I see to many players that continually [censored] about "Not getting into teams" when they should be FORMING TEAMS!!! Of course all you get in response is "I am not a leader" or "I hate the star", my only response to that is.... dont [censored] about something you obviously have the ability to change, you obviously lack the true dedication or desire to do something about.

In the time you spent posting this "WHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!" post you could have ran to the kitchen, gotten a mountain dew, ran back and formed a team. If you don't understand that i think you're lazy by now then you probably shouldn't post anymore.

There are still teams to be had and yes starting your own is a very quick way to get on a team. My worry is if your SG is a good one then they should be making room for you to team with them.

They would, but they are usually doing things like Hami raids, LRSF, and so on.

As for forming my own teams, I have tried, but I am lucky to find one or two people in my level range looking for something that isn't ye olde box-full-o-bosses, much less five. You are saying "start them" but the problem is there is no one to start them with.

(Assuming you're not in to AE)

When in the mood to run teams non-stop, I'll:

1. ask for a team running in my range.
2. type out something like "Level 24 scrapper forming 20-26 team for non-AE Invincible arc missions. PST only - not watching channels. I has pie.", copy and paste the line then...
3. proceed to spam this to my group channel, then global friends listed as solo, then /broadcast, then /request, then team-friendly global channels such as VU2009 and Virtue LFG.
4. and if by any miracle it is not filled to 8, then I'll use /sea to individually send the invitation advertisement

So that's about it. It's rare I can't fill when I want to run because of my efficiency in spamming the known Virtue universe. Not to mention how terribly anal I am in my message. I rarely allow time between different channels... first come first serve.. and go go go. By listing level and AT, I eliminate many "what level? is that hero or villain?" questions. Adding type and difficulty often encourages people to respond because they don't assume I'm looking for farm fodder. And.. by advising pm response, I free myself of having to read scrolling channels for responses - I make them come to me. A little selfish? Yes, but I'm the one taking the time to set up a search. The bit about the pie is just an ingenious little fib to appear friendly and carefree.. then the whipping frenzy begins as I milk my companions for wave after wave of glorious ex peas <insert ebil laughter>.

Most of the time, I don't have to go as far as hitting that many channels - during prime hours. That extended practice was only until recently, as I was playing very odd hours ( midnight through 8 am when most of my friends and group are fast asleep).

In short, it's possible with careful preparation to start and maintain a team. One more thing - if you're of level to enter a co-op zone, do so. Much easier to keep a team full when there's a larger pool of applicants.

Sure, it's good to make and foster friendships but let's face it... the odds that they'll maintain the exact same schedule and remain in game is not the usual case. I say "usual". People come and go. They play days or afternoons or evenings. Or just weekends .. or just T-Th when not in class, etc. It's about placing yourself in a position to openly engage with any one at any given time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Curious as to what you would normally type. Some channels scroll quickly and a non-detailed, "Anything going on?" will get lost. Pretty much why it's helpful to write up a detailed mini-advertisement and copy/paste/spam.. to the direct point. What, where, when, why, how.

Good luck to you.

SO SG's should make teams for all of thier members? At what point are the members held to the same standards?

I encourage team forming leaders in my sg. And it works WELL!!! We don't even allow LFT to be spoken in our SG. You either form a team, or you say "Willing to help", that's it.

Even this doesn't matter. Have a 45 Stalker who can't AE either due to AT. They all want stone brutes or kins. But I really don't care anyway. I ususally don't have problems getting or running teams.

I'm even having trouble putting together teams in Grandville at times. Everyone seems to be at the AE doing farms, I can get teams together, it just takes a while sometimes.

Sorry OP, I was gonna make a big ol' post but I can't talk, just finished a pickup door mish team and now partway through a pickup Doc Q TF, what were you saying? Something about not getting teams?

Saying "Anything going on?" is not a good method of inquiry, by the way. Like others have said, figure out what you want to do and then make a team. I have never ever been unable to fill any team I started. This Doc Q I am running as we speak is a pickup group and it's rocking along nicely, only took fifteen minutes to get together, too.

Frankly, I've had extremely poor luck with finding teams in the game since the AE was created, and while no stranger to all the above suggestions and a few tricks of my own, finding teams in the post-AE world is extremely difficult. Almost nobody wants a mission team for low levels, low being less than 35-40.

The only reason I'm wanting to find a team 35+ is because I've got 4 50s, which I'm fine with not playing except TFs or the like. However, it's the 2 39s, 2 37s, and a 36, that makes me irritated. I try to start up teams, and usually get 8 man and run successful teams usually in no time. However, I can't find a character that really sticks out to me enough to start the grind from the upper 30s to 50. Making me willing to jump around if a person needs me on a team in a LFG channel.

I check them, just there's not a lot going on in the 30-49 range usually.

You may need to find a new supergroup. I'm sure the people you're rolling with are lovely people, but this is your game time and your $15/month that you're spending. It sounds like you like your SGmates a lot, so maybe it's worth bringing the subject up, tactfully, let them know you'd like to team with the SG more and that maybe some lower level TF activities would be pretty awesome. In the end, if they are simply unable to provide what you are looking for in an SG, it may be time for a friendly departure. Shoot your SG leader or an officer a tell and ask to talk about it, without getting overly aggressive or throwing down any ultimatums, and see what you can work out with them. If they're worth their salt they'll at least listen.

YOu say your friends are in their 50s? Level up and join them. It takes abuot 5 seconds through the miracle of AE, and soon you too will be running end-game task-forces, hunting praetorian archvillains, raiding motherships, PvPing, and doing whatever else your friends do at the level cap. You'll do it WITH them. Everybody's happy.

Whats that you say? Dont wnat to skip the precious content? Well, by your own words it sounds like you're not enjoying it much, but OK, no problem. Send around tells to people in your level asking to join their teams. Ive never failed with taht strategy yet in my life, but if you do, then do what everyone else above me has said and MAKE a team.

I knwo a lot of people see this as a non-solution becuase they're nervous about leading a team. But trust me, its not rocket-science. If you have even the most basic understnading of game play, enough personal skills to avoid getting punched out on a daily basis, and one of these new-fangled things we call spines, then you will do just fine. Like somoene once said in a sappy movie, its all about having confidence.

I agree.

I gamed with a PuG team on Virtue yesterday that was running "normal" missions.

Starting your own team is always an option that many people won't try. Don't sent blind invites. Send a request for people to join your team. State your level, your difficulty, what you are doing, and where. Players will join.

If you aren't grouping with your group, it isn't much of a group. It's more like you are a backroom minion washing the dishes for the people that really group together. Unless there is something beneficial that you are getting from being in that super group, I suggest finding one that will actually play the game with you. That's the main reason to be in a sg as far as I'm concerned.

If you are allowed to invite players to the super group, you could start inviting "good" players that you recruit to your team to your super group ... then you will have people in your sg to game with.

I'm in the biggest super group of all. All my super groups and villain groups are subsets of that huge super group. It is simply called PUG. I have the feeling that there are more Pick Up Groups going on at any given time than any other kind of team.

Yes you can still find teams, but to pretend that it isn't more difficult or more that there are less teams to find or build is just plain silly.

How you ask is also important.

"r u lft" Ain't gonna cut it with most people. They'll answer back with "No thanks" while thinking, "not with YOU!"

Try something like this: "Hi! Interested in joining a 35-ish mish team in Nerva?" You'll sound competent and have already answered a couple potential questions.

Of course, being Virtue, lots of people will ((talk like this)). Make sure to respect that convention, especially at first. I prefer RP myself, but most of us end up dropping the brackets mid-mish on mixed teams once the action heats up.
