The new TF

Just finished this up, and it doesn't seem that there is really much to the final encounter. Just an AV with a whole lot of HP that needs to be chipped away at for a long time. 3 scrappers, 3 blasters, one inv/ss tank, and one earth/thermal controller. No strategy beyond run in and bash on the AV pretty much.

Did we miss something there? Is there supposed to be more to this than just a punching bag of 226K HP?

The story?

Perfectly valid point. I was just hoping for something requiring a little more thought at the end.

A lot of speculation is going to start (or already has) about what is coming in further issues. Posi has dropped some hints, and even Manticore tripped himself about some things.

Besides "Going Rogue" it looks like the game is taking a return to "roots".

Care to elaborate on what you mean by "roots"?

Got it. When I read "roots", I started brainstorming all kinds of things, none of which included expanding on the existing lore.

The meaning was so obvious, now that I look at it, that I'm a little embarrassed that I overcomplicated it.

I thought the final mission had some trick guns to keep the AV from pulling an INVINCIBLE stunt. Maybe you got around that somehow.

There were also the 4 (not sure if they were EBs or AVs) in the bubbles around Reichsman...I believe they started attacking with Reichsman at 75%, 50%, 25%, and 25% again. The dimensional gun thing was pretty cool too.

City of Heroes taught me that when the world is burning, you don't just stand by and watch, you grab a fire extinguisher and do whatever you can to stop it-even if it's not much at all. Sign the petition to keep City of Heroes alive HERE.

My first thought upon seeing the Dimensional Guns?

"Venkman! Don't cross the streams!"

I said that in teamspeak during my TF run yesterday. Yes, the team cracked up.

That, and when I screamed KHHANNNNNNN!!!!!! 25 minutes into beating down Reichsman.

Managed a second run with Panzer and Impyre last night got the run down to 1:06. Reichsman is little more than a giant bag of hitpoints and the guns don't seem to do much at all. I think I may have gotten carpal tunnel from hitting attacks on him.

No. I just was a fan of Ghostbusters.

You know what else? Reichsman looks like M. Bison.

I heard the guns are supposed to stop his AOE stun if used right before he activates it.

*edited to add that this apparently is incorrect according to this post:

There seems to be some confusion as to the use of the dimensional ground ray in the final fight of the Task Force. Before Reichsman’s hit by the ray, he is in a phased state and is running a rather nasty debuffing aura. When he is hit by the ray, it “grounds out” some of his power and he returns to a normal state and his aura is shut down. This will persist for the duration of the fight. The dimensional grounding ray isn’t intended to be used at specific points in the fight; it should be used early on, and one hit will do.

If it only requires one shot to affect him the whole fight, that would be a pity and too bad at the missed opportunity. I was running this with the impression that the Ray would only affect him for a while, and when that Blue shield appears above him, he has reconnected, gone back to upper power, and needs to be zapped again. That would really encourage team cooperation, for if you use up the gun by everyone firing in an uncoordinated manner, you would lose before the Reichsmann was defeated. We played it that way anyways, so it we DID coordinate who would shoot and when, and it worked out fine.
Maybe its a glitch that it only needs one shot.
