Surge of Power worth it?
Noone likes situations where a power drops their end to zero. Those same people probably like it a whole helluva lot less when a situation drops their life to zero.
I took Surge of Power on my Fire/Psi and it's saved my life numerous times. If you like playing on big teams then it's a very good "oh snap" power. Just be cognizant of when it's going to crash.
If you are on a /Psi with Drain Psyche, Power Surge makes you incredibly difficult to kill for a time. I have a massive amount of recharge on my dom, and usually get my endurance refilled shortly after it is drained. So your milage may vary.
I am Mind/Elec, actually.
It's one of the best powers available to Doms. Definitely pick it up!
The best comics are still 10!

Super Reflexes: the Golden Fox of power sets!
WARNING: I bold names.
I had it when I was still Mu. Basically, there are two questions.
One: do you have any trouble with EBs/AVs? If the answer is yes, power surge will be good. It helped me against those quite a bit.
Two: Will you be able to remember to use it when your life is in danger? For me, the answer was "haha, no". I'd always forget about the power when I was about to die. Same with demonic etc.
If you can remember to use the power or have troubles with EBs, the power is *great*. Otherwise you might get more mileage out of the other two.
Active (Freedom): Setna (Ice/Psi Dom), Arram (WP/KM Tank), Tesmiel (Elec/SS Tank), Astredax (Robot/Dark Mastermind), Operative Vidali (melee fortunata)
Retired (Virtue): Gaav (Inv/EM Tank), Baqra (Fire/SS Tank)
For an endurance heavy Dominator, it's a great power to use when in Dire Straights when Domination is down.
I tend to rush ahead like a brute without resting and go through my endurance quickly, so I like all powers that make me more durable and keep up my recovery. I use this power all the time with my Sonic/Mental Blaster in conjunction with Drain Psyche, and with my Plant/Thorn Dom.
Too many alts to list.
For what it's worth, while I can't speak for it usefulness, what I can suggest, nay, recommend, is that you bind the power to your ~ key, next to the 1. I found binding Hoarfrost to that made it infinitely more likely that I'd use it.

Meh. I use the mouse to click powers and leave up 4 power trays. I put my utility/accolade/OH SH%$ powers on the 4th tray by themselves so I don't need to look for them when I need them.

Ever since I baught a new computer with Vista pre-loaded, I cant bind anything to my tilde key. It used to be my healing key. Now it just sits there forlorn fealing useless. I feel bad for it. *Nod, nod*

[/ QUOTE ]I totally agree here. Most of the other power pools have garbage. I always pick mu mastery on doms. Its got the only pet worth a damn, resistance to one of the hardest hitting damage types in the end game NRG and a mini-unstoppable for when things go wrong. I dont think it get any better than this. Many folks hate the -end aspect of it at the end. But seriously which would you rather have, your hp dropped to zero because you die or just all your endurance gone but you survive the encounter?
Bump and Grind Bane/SoA
Kenja No Ishi Earth/Empathy Controller
Legendary Sannin Ninja/Pain Mastermind
Entoxicated Ninja/PSN Mastermind
Ninja Ryukenden Kat/WP Scrapper
Hellish Thoughts Fire/PSI Dominator
Thank You Devs for Merits!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]It's basically an armor-set Tier 9. What Tanker/Scrapper/Brute/Stalker skips their tier 9? (other than soft-capped /SR, or those that don't have a "true" Tier 9 - Dark Armor and Fiery Aura)

surge of power is an excellent power. the end crash can occasionally be a problem, but is made virtually invalid if you also have power sink (OR you have Domination up for the crash OR keep a healthy stock of blues all the time).
for me, if surge crashes and there's still stuff to kill, i just pop a small blue and hit power sink and my end bar is full again. you could use domination to fill your bar as well, but then you'd have to manage when you use it a bit more.
as a side note, if you have /psi, drain psyche does make you virtually unkillable for a while, but it won't help you recover your end after a surge crash. when surge crashes it kills your recovery for 15 seconds, so the only way to recover endurance is to either use Dom, power sink, or pop blue candy.
As with so many of my questions, the title says it all. Is Surge of Power worth picking up? I need somethign besides Charged armour to get Mu Guardian, and the end boost and resistance maximization sounds like fun, but Im not a huge fan of powers that drain your end to 0 when they finish, and Im skeptical of how useful the resistance boost is really if its not perma-able. I am hoping someone can set me straight: should I bother with this power, or should I take Ball Lightning or Power Sink instead?
