huntsman?
i have a lvl 50 huntsman, followed the guide in this forum, what is great you are a AOE damage dealer mostly and you can also withthe double leaderships ,fill in nicely, and your
spiders helpa lot when up,plus you debuff, read the write up itis a lot of fun(but a bit end hungey)
Fluffy Bunny 1 Person SG
Rabid Bunny 1 Person VG
Both on Pinnacle
Hobbit's Hole 1 Person SG
Spider's Web 1 Person VG
Both on Freedom
Banes= a weaker version, yet team friendly version of a Mace/SR stalker with some nice, fun tools.
Crabs= multiple options, but great AoE. Multiple pets (can have up to 6). High resistance, and a heal. Commonly called "Blastertankerminds"
Huntsman= a more team friendly verison of a VEAT. A solid AOE attack chain (refer to the guides for info about teh chain). NIce debuffs (yes they debuff). Essentially, best for teaming, but can solo fairly well.
There's also the much less common Crab-Huntsman, where instead of being a Bane that focuses on the pre-branch powers, you're a Crab that focuses on the pre-branch powers. That's the way I rolled mine

Kinda defeats one of the major purposes too: Avoiding the crab legs.

Aisynia has a great Huntsman guide that I have followed to great effect on mine. He is about lvl 30 at the moment and I quite enjoy playing him so far. I may have an alternate Bane build just to see what it's like. I will definitely make that an Alternate Crab build when and if they have the Crab Backpack only appear when using that build.

It's off the known issues list so I wouldn't count on it.

I've got a 47 Huntsman, and he's probably my favorite character. Killer AOE chain, insane team buffs, major debuffs on most of his attacks, and no ugly Crab legs. Make a Huntsman. You'll love it.

Huntsmen are good stuff.
Bane feels too much like a gimpy stalker to me. Pre-Castle buffs to the AT Bane would've been better, but I *already* played a gimpy stalker. I don't want to go baaaaack. If you want to use a mace, you might as well make a Mace brute. They're better.
Crab is...well, is fine. I just don't like the crab backpack.
Huntsmen are pretty awesome. They're like Leadership-oriented Offenders. with Status Protection.
When I looked at the powers I'd take for a Huntsman I kind of though of it as a Blaster with melee powers in the primary instead of the secondary and team bonuses in the secondary. I did go Bane just to grab the better armor, cloaking device, and surveillance. I have a blast running around with capped ranges and aoe defense while having an aoe immob power, that lets me do some very silly things on teams. I will say my single target attack chain could use another attack, but using the debuffs rounds it out fine for me.

Ugly Crab Legs??? What are you guys talking about? That's like the coolest thing about being SoA!!! Those legs look very cool!
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I know!

I don't find them to be ugly, so much as I find they give me really bad lobster cravings.
Mmmmm, boiled Crabs Spiders dipped in melted butter.
Does the bane skill cloaking device (or placate) work on ranged attacks too from the machine gun or only melee?
Only Melee
Hey all,
I'm kinda new to the whole SoA thing. Been playing CoH for a while, but just started CoV and got my first 50. Anyway, I've been looking at the various different SoA options and had a few questions.
I see many people talking about huntsman. I assume that a huntsman is just a bane that takes the rifle attacks instead of the mace attacks. Is that true?
Also, is there any advantage to taking the huntsman over a bane or crab, other than the coolness of getting to use a gun?
Any other random thoughts regarding crabs and banes relative to widows would be appreciated too.
btw, I already plan on trying out a nightwidow, but am interested in crabs/banes too.
