One good thing about AE -- Auto Exemping

For all the bad and good of AE. As a casual player, I love the auto-exemping that happens. It has made team forming and leveling so much easier.

I've been playing like 3 years now and still have a hard time figuring out how to keep my leveling smooth. I mess stuff up when I get too high a level toon in a team. I'm sure its not really complicated, but its not intuitive either and its not something I've ever cared to put much time into.

Auto Exemping takes care of that for me so I don't play for hours getting little or no xp for stuff.

I know Sidekicking and Exemping are in the game, but then you need to have at least half your team at the same level in order to SK or Exemp everyone to the proper level. It also causes problems where one person leaves and then the SK is stuck with no one to prop him up through the rest of the content.

This also is a huge help on servers with smaller populations since it makes it easier to have teams with mixed levels all feeling relevant as they play through the content.

Everything doesn't need to be a powerlevel farm, I personally don't mind that sometimes. But what I do really like about AE is the auto-exemp feature smooths out XP worries and number of SK worries. And all the silly, my SK got just a little too far away and died stuff.

I love and hate it.

On the one hand, it's made farming/PLing so much easier (and a bit more prevalent). On the other hand, it's also made doing stuff with a mixed team so much easier, with everyone automatically pushed to a level range they can get at least some XP in (even if one or two people still have to Malefactor/Exemplar down).

Net positive change, though, and I'm really looking forward to the new stuff in i15 surrounding customization in the MA. >.> If just to better tell the stories I want to tell.

To me this is the best thing about AE. I can play with mixed level teams of my friends. We can bring any characters we want regardless of mission level. I15 will only make this easier.

Fixed that for you.

It's a mechanism that, had I been part of the MA beta, I'm sure I would have been enthusiastic about. Seeing the massive amount of farming/PLing it has enabled has cooled my enthusiasm for it to the point where I'd rather they removed that aspect of the MA. I think the net effect has been more harmful than helpful.

Auto SKing is a great thing.

Having 1-54 ranges for most of the stuff is too. That means being able to run everything whatever your level is.

I'd like to see most of the old arcs and TFs, especially the TFs, be changed to 1-54 also. There's a ton of lost content in this game almost noone ever runs : being exe to lower lvls is not fun.

This what auto-sk is really ALL about. Some people have misunderstood it, like soooo many other aspects of things in this game.

I rarely run AE missions, but when I do, it makes me soooo happy that I don't have to see the dreaded bubbles.

"MY SIDEKICK IS 47 FEET AWAY! MY SIDEKICK ENTERED THE ELEVATOR A SECOND BEFORE ME! OKAY IM OUT OF THE ELEVATOR NOW! MY SIDEKICK IS PICKING HIS NOSE! MY SIDEKICK IS EATING A CHEESEBURGER!"

AAAAAAAARGH!

My least favorite part about the auto-exemp is that so many more people have heard about it than actually know how it works, a good number of the people who think they know how it works are wrong, and quite a few people are willing to argue about it forever rather than take the five minutes required to test it.

Best part is when the person SK'ing you dies, warps to the hospital, and leaves you keenly aware of what level you actually were.

First, a minor terminology correction: while this thread title uses the term "auto exemping" what nearly all the examples are talking about is auto-SKing. That said, what's so mysterious and misunderstood about it?

I heard if you auto-sidekick too much, you'll go blind.

I agree, while not a fan of letting n00bz play along too, the PL advantages are nice.

I don't do a lot of farms; consequently I do wind up dealing with other people who don't do a lot of farms. Almost every AE team I've joined, including teams with friends, has wanted to insist that "auto-SK" means everybody in the team will be automatically sidekicked/exemped to the same level. It doesnt work like that. This is no mystery to anybody who's done any experimenting at all, but the misconception is a serious pain on the all-too-common 8-character team with levels ranging from 12 to 50.

Depends on the map.
