Arc "Content" Rules?

We're supposed to keep our AEs relatively clean I suppose, but what is a clear boundary for what is acceptable and what is not? I'm not suggesting writing pornographic material for instance, but is putting mild suggestions and/or suggestive themes ((including alcohol?)) ok? What line do the mods take with content?

I would say the safest bet would be. . . keep it along the lines of what you see in the mainstream game. i think the only envelope Ive ever seen them push is swearing and even then its pretty minimal. Being a super hero game, you have to realize that yes children do play here and regardless of EULA. . . its much easier to keep an eye out for inappropriate content than accounts used by children ^_^

I played an arc a while back that I seriously considered reporting for content. It used a lot of S&M type references that were fairly suggestive. Not only that, but the enemies were set up as if they were a religious order (female), which really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't even remember the name of it at this point, but I definitely wouldn't want to play it again. Maybe kids that played it wouldn't 'get' the attempt at sleazy humor, but it was pretty obvious that any adult playing it would. I don't even remember if I rated it. I think I just chalked it up as not my cup of tea and didn't rate it at all.

I aim for the sort of stuff that you see on US broadcast primetime TV. that seems to give me a safe margin.

That's sounds like it's not really all that far off from Carnies or Dominatrix's groupies.

The game's rated "T for Teen", so I think 'PG-13' is a good rule of thumb. After all, we have gambling, prostitutes, villains in fetish wear with a none-too-subtle BDSM theme, an extra-dimensional nightclub, crime sprees, and so on.

This isn't a G-rated setting.

Just don't mention Chunnelling, Twinback Lugeing, Sminting, catherine-wheeling, blindfold piggybacking or Hackensack Mud Pies and you should be ok.

While you're there, don't forget to look up Ladling, dead-elbow dogs, Flating, Three Legged Bowling, Scranton Sandwiches, Mister Miyagi-ing and the Mississippi backscratcher. All of which terms should be avoided for the sake if the children when creating your masterpieces.

Edit: because one of them actually turned out to be a real rude act! LOL.

One word: Dominatrix. Don't make stuff any more suggestive than her and her group and you'll be just fine.

So gore, blatant and depicted sex, cold-blooded violence, and actions such as torture and what-not are hunky-dory, then?

(As a note, I find all censorship to be trite--personal responsibility should be the rule, not regulatory obligation but hey--I'm just pointing out that your baseline is pretty liberal.)

This is a tricky question because of the response of the players. My arc "Wicked, Wicked Wonderland" is all about adultry - but has never had one negative comment about its content.

On the other hand, it does contain one mob - the "Sex of Diamonds" - and one of the recurring comments I get is of the use of the word SEX.

It must not be a big problem because right now we have 179 players and a 4 star rating ... but it does point to how approach makes a difference. The adultry theme is delivered with sublty and humor. The word sex is ... the word sex. So when you create your arc, be aware of that.

If I had to rate Prime Time TV I'd rate it PG-13. So is this the same way here?

So the gambling is always simulated, but the blood is (or can be) real blood? Lol
