Going Rogue?

Hehe, oh that one!! My nephew loved that game for its violence.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

I didn't like the violence itself, seen enough in RL so yeah... but at least that game doesn't seem to do violence for the sake of violence as so many games seem to these days...

I love both. My current challenge in The Darkness is to try beating the game on normal eating only the minimum required number of hearts. Already beat the game, so now I'm trying to see if there's a different ending if you don't max out your darkness level.

My PB (storywise) is really a demon mimicking as a PB so I think you know where he will be ending up.

I doubt there's a different ending since the game follows the comic-book story, and we all know where that story arc went...

Possibly, but there are differences. And he was constantly fighting against, and winning against the corruption in the comic. So I'm wondering if there are multiple endings. Many games I've played do stuff like that.

True, he was winning against the corruption even in the game, but the game itself does not contain too much of the comic books, probably something like an introduction really.

About this side-switching Going Rogue thing, last night I "accidentally" logged on with a Dark/Rad Corruptor I haven't touched for ages on the Test Server. After killing a few mobs, it suddenly hit me... how would a Blaster feel when they'd see me, a Dark/Rad Corruptor, enjoying a good ranged attack-set, plus a good defense/debuff set, being able to do good damage, greatly debuff my enemies and yet heal myself, not to mention being able to "crit" enemies more often as their life-bar depletes...?

I think that, if a Corruptor was brought to the Blueside unchanged, both Blaster and Defender AT's may feel a touch of grudge against the newcomer?

Other issues may present themselves with other AT's and people will undoubtedly make countless threads about this in these Forums, so to be honest, I'm starting to feel that perhaps Going Rogue isn't going to be such a great thing after all.

It definitely won't register as "AWESOME" with me if all it means is simply letting my character appear in the Other Side's zones.

Nope. My WS is staying on the hero side. It doesn't fit her story at all to switch over.

I will add though. I intend on at least one of my VEATs to come over to the blue side.

Yeah, going rogue doesn't really fit with any of my Warshades since I've played them all pretty much according to the CoH lore which says they're reformed villains.

A reformed villain who goes rogue just seems to lack conviction to me, though I suppose you could make a case for a traumatic event that cause a loss of faith and a relapse to the old ways. Or maybe the villain was only pretending to reform, but the double agent thing I don't really buy - it seems like experienced Warshades like Shadowstar would spot a Nictus who was only faking remorse.

I can definitely see a Peacebringer getting all self-righteous and going rogue that way though - people who're convinced they're acting for the greater good often make the best villains. I'm also interested in reforming a few of my VEATs.

I think your perception is more that you are doing more damage than a Blaster than you actually are. Blasters have a 1.125 base damage modifier now, and have melee attacks as well. At best, you probably get to the equivalent of about 1.1 with Enervating Field and Accellerate Metabolism, and your bonus from Scourge is about the same as his from Defiance.

So unless he's hanging back and playing pure ranged, he probably has nothing to worry about. If he's a Blapper, then he's definately doing more damage. And the Defender is in pretty much the same boat you are, he has less damage, but he's able to boost his damage more than you can. He gets 30% more damage from EF, for instance, while you only get 22.5%.

Now, you will be able to do that damage considerably more safely than the Blaster will, which might lead the Blaster to wonder why he should go into melee -- increasing his risk even FURTHER -- just to match your damage. But that's really the difference, a Blaster is a high risk Archetype, while a Corruptor, as long as he takes the time to methodically lay down his debuffs, will be able to do fairly good damage as well, at much less risk.

I'll also add that this is a VERY old discussion. As is Brutes vs Scrappers vs Tankers, as is Stalkers vs Scrappers, as is Dominators vs Controllers vs Blasters. And we already have heroes and villains teaming together. So I'm guessing the problems are already well known.

Neither of my currently established Khelds will be going rogue, but I do plan on making a PB for the specific purpose of swapping over.

Already got the costume saved and ready to use when GR gets closer to launch.

The problems are all well-known for sure, and probably have been analyzed to death, but as long as the only way to come face to face with the problem is through sporadic task forces or teaming in the RWZ AE (where AE missions already screw up the metrics with custom critters that are tough as nails for some and easy as butter for others), I'm not sure how exposed the AT-vs-AT issue is, and Going Rogue may expose it further...
