Nobody gets defense vs Toxic damage type per se. I'm not sure if Vazh toxic attacks have a positional component.

Well, the zombies/abominations have [Projectile Vomit] (ranged) and [Zombie Vomit] (AoE, 5 targets max, 5 ft. radius). The [Dart Gun] that reapers and mortificators use is oddly enough classified as ranged/lethal, even though it deals purely toxic damage.

The best single powerset to take against Vahzilok is, in my experience, Force Fields. 40% toxic resistance (unenhanceable) from Deflection Shield and 25% ranged/AoE defense (enhanceable) from Insulation Shield/Dispersion Bubble combine for some pretty darn nice mitigation.

Also taking some skittles will help as needed, if you have a base -use empowerment stations, and if you are a veteran- the power drone gives 5% resists (not only is it good for soaking an alpha, some times the mobs target that instead of you making it a cannon fodder.)

Stone/SS/Pyre the current tank I use, can agro 4 mobs but only holds 12 to 16 of the baddies in an AE 54 Boss miss, I can survive so far. But for the ITF and STF I would select this to be the survivor while the rest pound on the av's but if you want a damaging tank that can assist the main agro tank and survive my choice is the Shields/SS/pyre pure unadluterated raw damage (Shield Charge) BOOM...............

I tanked a two man Posi just fine with my WP/DB. The mobs rarely touched the scrapper I was duoing with. If you have tanking experience, you should be able to compensate for the general lack of a standard taunt aura.

Hence why I said *full* group.

It was a QR, I just forgot to add the notation, not a direct reply to your post(which happened to be the last one when I started the reply).

That's not really that hard of a concept. The actual physical entity you're "avoiding" is a syringe/dart. I think one of the origin powers works in a similar way but has a small lethal damage tick before the toxic (Science, I believe, leaves a nice little dart in the neck, too).

What makes me nervous about Ice and Invuln are the holes in their defense. Specifically toxic. I’ve seen a number of Posi TF’s fall apart because the first few missions have Vahz in them and the INV tanks just can’t take the alpha from an 8 man spawn. Since I plan to solely level via TF’s I don’t want a gaping hole to any one TF. Am I making way to big a deal out of the hole? If so, please let me know.

*WAY* too big a deal. Firstly, every AT is badly gimped at level 15 and every tank set pretty much sucks. No one should be trying to take an 8-man alpha on that TF. The minions are monumentally stupid - use that.

As for the holes in any set, no tank set is rendered useless by having a 'hole'. I've tanked the Malaise and Mother Mayhem missions on my invuln. The dark/dark scrapper volunteered, due to his psi resistance, and kept face-planting. So I took over and didn't die once. These 'holes' are not the Achilles Heel that people make them out to be.

Ice and invuln are widely regarded as two of the better sets. They have holes so that they aren't completely indestructible. You learn the sets; you learn the shortcomings and you work around them. I've taken ice and invuln to 50. They aren't gimped.

Invulnerability is your best straight forward bet in my opinion. It has a good suite of resistance and defense with solid aggro management. Add Stone Melee for some decent damage and added aggro management tools.

Stone/Ice is a another good combo for pure tanking. Your damage won't be great but you will be an aggro magnet. If you slot for regen and make regular use of Ice Patch you shouldn't need Granite except in the most extreme cases.

Ice/Stone also looks to provide good defense and aggro tools with decent damage.

Willpowers taunt aura lasts for 1.25 seconds.

I think it is an oversight and will be fixed, so I am going to play one and build around the issue at current.

Mistake. It's not a bug or oversight. It's intentional. Do NOT assume it will be changed.
