Dr. Quatrexin introduced me to my own suckage..

OH MY GOD is all I can say. Maybe some people out there find him a cake walk but wow.

I attempted to hold his aggro at range ... BOOM! ... Oh yay my bots are gone, at which point his DOT made short work of me thereafter.

I attempted to hold his aggro at melee ... Swipe Bash ... two hits for 400+ damage and I was defeated.

I thought nosferatu was hard but dang at least I was able to defeat him.

Anyone else care to share their humiliating defeat at the hands of this menace?

I don't recall ever suffering defeat against him, but I've also never fought him solo with a Mastermind.

Really? I never fought him with a Mastermind. The first 3 or 4 times I fought him he died before I could even get a good look at him.

I'll have to run my next MM up against him and see if I have a different experience.

should have rushed him in body gaurd mode. the damage gets spread out and your survival rate is much higher. also make sure you take a full tray of inspirations, preferabaly purp's and reds and greens. if you did do this then i'm not sure what else you can do but some others might have some good ideas.

I only use bodyguard mode, thats how I fight. I only have 715 hitpoints. Two hits of 400 makes me a goner.

I don't see where he as any DoT attacks.

He only has that one ranged AoE attack, so, I recommend staying at range.

Already tried staying at range.. He aoed all my bots dead in one hit and then I toasted from fire damage.

actually if your in body gaurd mode 2 hits of 400 won't kill you. the damage gets spread out between you and your pets. adn if you eat purp's, he will barely touch you. what you can also do is lv 1-2 more times then before training up to those lv's go back and beat him. that way you wont have to waste the respec you get for getting your patron powers.

Well, in BG mode... if your damage-tick is 400/shot, then it's likely a similar amount of damage (barring resistance) to all of your bots, as well. At least, that's been my observation - the damage ticks per shot get distributed to every bot in range regardless. I often play zoomed back enough to catch it.

I don't think I've ever been hit that hard, though, except on AoEs that pretty well ruined my bots in the first place.

My only recommendation is doing what you can to stock up on purples, and seeing if he's the only thing in range to actually hit you. It sounds like he may have had some helpers that weren't immediately visible.

Trust me, when I took two hits of 400 actual damage back to back, while bodyguarded yes I died I was there I lived it, or died rather. There was no time for an inspiration it was Bash Bash defeated.

I do believe the Cryonite Armor is flashbackable... I'll dig up a list.

EDIT I was wrong. It looks like, instead, it's a Raid temp power from Mayhems instead, which is another decent way to get some additional firepower.

I try not to do that, seems like cheating to me. Some AVs seem easier than others depending on the AT. This one seems particularly deadly to my MM

Heh. I know how you feel, there. I generally try to avoid 'farming' for certain temps, but I have no qualms using ones that I already have at the moment. >.>

I still have my first Cryonite on my Bot/Storm, the Spirit Potion, Frenzy Mutagen..

I really should use this stuff more often then I do.

did you clear the room first before taking on the doc? and before you took on doc, did you eat some purple insp's? sounds like you need a better course of action then what you have. if need be go get yourself a shivan before you fight him again.

I just got Rikti Drone and Rikti Weapons from doing the Ambassador arc. Not sure if those would help. I may try getting a Shivan if a third try doesn't work.

Yes, it was just me, my bots and the [censored] who killed me. My strategy has gotten me through 40 levels so far and This is the first AV besides Nosferatu I've had any problems with. I don't think its so much strategy as it is his pure damage output. I don't typically use inspiration beyond respite and I've never found the need to.

Well I don't know what the problem was the first two times I fought him. Maybe he was bugged. This third time I took him out without any real problems. He didn't hit me with ranged nearly as hard and I easily took two hits from his melee and it only brought me down to half hp. He never got any of my bots down below half HP. Twice as easy as the first two fights and I didn't change anything.

Go figure.

That happens with particular AVs, such as Black Scorpion. I won't spoil too much, but the ole boy can surprise you at the end of the second arc. He owned me like twice in a row on two characters. Then I go for him again and he falls like a sack of taters. The defense rolls and if you are mezzed really factor into these little encounters. Stock up on inspies, if you survive the first five seconds, most likely you will win with your usual tactics.

you didnt say what your secondary was, but he was a cakewalk for my thugs/traps as a +2 EB. had a serious mindfield going which took off about 1/4 of his health to start t hen made sure to hit poison trap everytime it was up.

he may not be soloable depending on your secondary
