PUI

see? that guy is cool
why can't you all be like him
[/ QUOTE ]
Because I don't define 'cool' by the substances someone does. :3
[ QUOTE ]
I don't consider caffeine a drug, is it not one of the food groups yet? I'm a caffiend.
[/ QUOTE ]
It technically is. It's a mild psychoactive stimulant and diuretic. It also can produce withdrawal symptoms when your body starts to become dependent on it, just like any other similar substance. However, it tends to be far less pronounced due to the reduced effect it has in general (being only a mild stimulant, after all).
...I usually drink 4-5 cups of coffee a day, to help cope with my ADD.
what is your metric for cool? i am willing to bet it is not a very good one

what is your metric for cool? i am willing to bet it is not a very good one
[/ QUOTE ]
A certain undefinable quality that tends to vary from person to person; Generally associated with how one acts and carries themselves then it is what they say or do. Sometimes, these things can be completely at odds with one another - a 'cool' person can say something completely foolish or infantile, and yet somehow still make it seem 'cool' despite that fact.
It's a state of mind and a personality trait, that shows up in everything the person in question does. Other people can share similar traits, but can just plain lack that 'cool' vibe and be 'uncool' as a result. It's also most commonly exemplified by those with a lot of personal self-confidence, and a realization that it really doesn't matter what other people think on the matter.
Some people just got it. Others don't. Still others wish they did.
End of the day, just don't matter.

by that definition someone could be cool based at least partially on the substances they imbibe

But doing the substances isn't part of it. It's just something they do that they enjoy. Nor is the volume or specifics of these substances exactly important.
It's psychological, not biological or chemical. The biology and chemistry are entirely secondary concerns.
...in my opinion. If that's your metric, s'all good, mang. Just not how I roll.
You two are gonna drive me to drinking.

Sure as hell isn't me. I may be a teetotaler, but I'm also one without a license.
DMV guys hate how I take turns. :<
Okay, okay, fine.
Barkeep! A round for the house, on me!
Yes, especially for those that don't drink. You have some Everclear back there, right? This'll be great.

One of my rules: before doing any alchohol, no responsibilities or anywhere to go for at least 24 hours. That way I stay out of trouble.
Edited to make that first sentence less drunk.

Take it in FL.
I swear, the people down this way drive worse than Chicago natives. I'm reasonably sure the license procedure is "OK, open this box of Cracker-jacks and you'll find your license inside."

One of my rules: before doing any alchohol, is that I have to have absolutely no responsibilities or anywhere to go for at least 24 hours. That way I stay out of trouble.

I said rarely, not never.
Who says I'm not PUI right now?
My worst offense was the rambling random SQUEEE posts I made after having a bunch of beers while waiting for the test server to come back up so I could check out the i15 changes to MA. I liked some of them so much I couldn't resist sharing.
I am also frequently guilty of SUI (Scrapping under the influence), although with the way I normally play my Scrappers, nobody can tell.

QR - It was my birthday yesterday, and i went out with my friends and got quite pissed . When I got home at 4am, I sent an email to support about a problem im having with my arc. Re-reading it today, its surprisingly lucid and calm. I tend to type really slowly and carefully when i PUI - that email probably took me an hour to type out lol.
Its texting drunk thats the killer for me - not so much what I say but who I say it to. Bit of a /facepalm moment this morning lol.

That 'bet' you just stated put you firmly in the 'uncool' column, IMHO.
Cos, yanno, cool people don't evaluate other people's metrics for cool. Cos, yanno, it's not cool to do that.
... wait, now I'm doing it. DAMN!

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw
Ex-addict here, albeit not to alcohol, so I can't really claim to be pure. However I rarely drink, and even more rarely with the intention of actually getting drunk. Three or four times a year for the former, maybe once a year for the latter. And it's usually a social occasion, so no playing on the PC at all is involved. Even on the times when I'm alone and in the mood to imbibe, I'm a really mellow drunk, much more likely to listen to music if anything, most times I just go on to bed.
End result, you'll never see me PUI. I don't consider caffeine a drug, is it not one of the food groups yet? I'm a caffiend.
I don't smoke at all, tried it once, didn't see what I was supposed to be accomplishing. WAY too expensive a habit too.
