Get this !!!!!!!!!

I teamed with a bunch of people who think they are so much better then everyone that they forget every noob mistake they ever made and actually take the time to post about others mistakes on a message board.

I wonder what some of the people on these boards would think of concept toons of mine or other people i know.

Like pings travel powerless ill/emp? My pool power less toon. Or captain pool power

Thank you, Jester.

Guess I'm one of the few people who would, you know, help these people instead of just remembering it as a self-aggrandizing story to tell later.

I have been thinking the same thing reading this thread. Don't get me wrong I am probably the worst at saying something on vent like "damn that nub has group fly and whirlwind at lvl 25 but doesn'nt have their tank shields yet".

However the first thing I will do then is check their vet badges. If they have been playing a while then I sign them off as being retarded that they haven't figured out the game mechanics any better than that yet. However if they are fairly new to the game I will send them a private tell and offer some suggestions rather than be an [censored] to them in team chat like I have seen so many others do.

I remember my first toon. Farmtank (Tony) had to take me to the store at level 27 to get SO's because I didn't know such a thing existed, and I didn't powerlevel. I also had the med set on my scrapper all the way to lvl 50 because I wanted to help heal and rez. Hell she still has jumpkick on her, but that is due to concept not because I don't realize the power sucks.

Point is we have all been nubs. The problem is that after a while (6, 9, 12 months vets) you expect some simple game mechanics to dawn on them. Eventhough as a new player I didn't know a damn thing about the forums to read up on powers....I could look at my teammates and realize they were not having the endurance issues I was having and check out their powers and see what they had different than I had. Or to check out the same AT's as me and see what different powers they had and send them a tell and ask them what those powers did.

Point is rather than being judgemental about people that pl to 50 and don't have any vet badges, realize that if the lvl 50's didnt invite those new low level players to the farms then it wouldn't be such an epedimic. I mean can you blame the little kidd for smoking a joint when the adults leave them sitting around in an ashtray and then they smoke it and its like holy crap this feels good to get this high this quick?

There is a difference between a "Newb" and a "Noob." A newb is what we've all been. Young, inexperienced, unaware of the ways of CoX. Newbs ask for help, they take advice, etc.

A Noob, however, is the basest form of life in an MMO. They either a) are a newb that believes they are experieced or b) are complete idiots. Noobs can be brand-new players or 5-year veterans. Most use 1337speak and are generally incomprehensible. Common noob behavior includes actively seeking PLs, leeching, and using Caps Lock as if it is a Free Candy button

The problem with PLing is that newbs get no chance to ask questions. This occasionally turns them into noobs. I have nothing against PLing, particularly if it's getting you through a couple bars to the next level, especially in the 40s.

I hope this has brought you some insight into the world of Newbiedom.

Dad: "Answer me. Who taught you to do this stuff?"

Kid: "You, allright? I learned it by watching you!"

What's even funnier is getting a blind invite to a team, turns out they are going to "farm", you tell yourself what-the-hell and here the leader say, "This is my first time running this".

Everyone enters the mission and begins to attack the first mob, you notice they have no chance against level 54 bosses, for one, the Tank was the first one dead, and second when you ask the Tank how they are slotted you get 6 people asking you, "What's an enhancement?".

You check their badges and all of them don't even have the first vet badge yet.

The other person on your team is laughing just as hysterically as you are as you both stand back and watch them die.

Thats offensive. I have no Vet badges and I am still smarter then some people with tons of them.

Seriously a level 42 MM with 24 month vet badge asked me "How do I turn on bodyguard mode?" And when I explained it he was like "Nuhuh idiot thats not how you do it." 4 minutes later he asked "How do I turn on bodyguard mode."

Don't judge based on badges. Yes I joined for AE but I make real mishs. You know story ones.

I remember that day

That's funny, I jumped on a PuG with a lvl 20 WP Tank that believed since he was auto SK'd to 50, he could herd 54s. Died before he could finish his taunt pull. Hilarious that he blamed it on lag.

See, I knew about the Mastermind thing, but the original comment seemed like they were talking about putting a player's character into "bodyguard mode" (as opposed to a pet). Even long-term veterans can misinterpret concepts when presented in unfamiliar terms or out of context.
