Ascendant Shield color change?

I've noticed there is no way to change the color on the Ascendant Shield. Is this intentional or an oversight?

There's no way to change the Council rifle colour either. Or the Redding Rifle. They have intentionally made faction items to remain the way they were designed, it would appear.

More accurately, it would be better to say "it depends" There are plenty of unlockables that you can change colors for (not to mention one of the ones you listed does indeed have a tintable version unlocked at the same time).

Best way to describe the situation is that certain older items ported directly from NPCs aren't tintable. Rikti Weapons, Ascendant Shield, Nemesis Rifles, among others.

Actually the Redding rifle colours can be changed. When you unlock it you get two versions. The standard with fixed colours, and a second version that lets you select two different colours. Not sure what the exact names are for them though.

usually in that case, the unmodifiable one is called "<insert name>legacy"

So far as I ca recall. I haven't been on since shortly after I13 was released.

More like 'Legacy Broad Sword/Katana/Assault Rifle/etc'.

Items that are taken directly from NPCs usually can't have their colours changed at all.

That must be a recent update, as I recall there being a lot of requests to make the Redding rifle customizable.

You misremember. The tintable and untintable versions were ingame pretty much with the launch of the issue or the first patch or two thereafter.
