Any good Fire/Kin Builds at Defense cap?

Im trying to build a spec for my Fire/kin and have her at the 45% cap for defense, but im having trouble making a build that hits the cap and can still put out the damage that makes it good for AoE farming.. Anyone have a build they use?.. or maybe one that you are trying to build yourself.. would love the help and sudgestions.. thx

Are you trying to cap out -all- positional defense? A specific type of damage? I don't think Fire/Kin is really the one to cap out def all, but if you picked the right epic shield, you might be able to (for instance) soft cap smashing/lethal defense.

The point of farming is that you're fighting enemies you can control trivially easy and kill quickly. I've never done the f/k farming thing, but I'm pretty sure if you're trying to cap your defense you're doing it wrong.

Ive seen some people useing tha defense build, I didnt think to ask them the specifics of their build, but I did ask the general build and they said it was a S/L cap build.. they do enough damage to be able to solo 6-8 PI mission spawns while still hitting the cap. so I know its possible.

You can do this without softcapping defense. Its more about knowing how to play your kin than having a certain amout of defense needed to get through the farm.

Infact last night I was running a lvl 54 lt freakshow farm pretty easily. You dont really "need" defense as a kin. You need more +rech and +acc so your flashfire and cinders comes back quickly for each mob.

I already have a good Build that I can farm with pretty well, I can solo 6 spawn maps, never tried anything higher just because I never really wanna keep the fillers waiting that long, but I am still Trying to get a Defense Build up for my 2nd spec. I know the Defense isnt needed for farming, but I have seen some awesome firekins running with the build, so im wanting to try it out.
While I do appreciate the responses, Im not looking for deterrents and alternative builds, just looking for posts and suggestions for making a Capped build. thx

Were you able to break it?

I only manage to come up with 33% Defense and 70% Resistance on this one.

Please post if you have done it better.

Wow.. 33% def and a 70% resist?.. Can you post that?.. Ive found two builds with the 45% defense cap, ant the damage "looks" good, but there kinda expensive cuz I was trying to get as much recharge as I could.. posting the builds after this post...


FYI: In one build I have Speed Boost, and in the Other I replaced it with Acrobatics to prevent Knockback/down... I wasnt sure which I should grab.. most people love a kin for the SB, but as a Farming toon, that resist KB/KD is awsome

Also she will solo ANY AV in the game. My advice is keep working at the build and dont go cheap. I think mine cost me about 400-500 mil, but all worth it. I wont post ine though because it is a secret build. But any doubters can hit me up on justice and i will take any challenges on 8 man anything or soloing AV's.

Oh get up off your secret builds. We've done it before. Seriously. Though you have been able to perform, there's always room to perform better, and you might be missing out on some things.

I could see, in a game where we all had to wait around and camp spawns for a specific item, why you would want to keep your build secret. But really, don't go the route of insulting us without at least explaining why your build is so powerful. There's a billion ways to play these toons.

That's like saying your secret is hitting the mobs with fire damage.

no its just a sg secret and really dont want to go against my sg. respect it.

There was nothing insulting in my post so dont know where you got that at. was just saying that that person was wrong, because defense does help and it is not "wrong" to build a fire/kin that way.

Also my build is just fine the way it is, it couldnt perform better. If the OP wants to PM me i could give him some tips. But im not posting my build cause like i said its a SG build. Just respect that.

I would drop Leaping for Leadership. /kins really need Tactics. Instead of Acrobatics you could just as easily get kb protection either through a set bonus or steadfast protection or karma (kb). These can be slotted in your epic shield and in either maneuvers (if you get it) or even in ID; however the KB only works when you use ID.

Either way, all you really wanna worry about is some KB protection, accuracy, and recharge (oh, I would get hasten as one of your first power pool powers). A fire/kin is all about killing quickly, not defense. Plus your pets will help take the agro, just make sure your heal is always up.

if I drop leaping, ill have no travel powers = ( I tried having Leadership instead of Fighting, but I couldnt get the Defense as high as I would like. Also.. the End consumption from leadership is a bit much I think.. just out of curiosity.. how much Accuracy = 1% to hit chance? or is it just 1:1 ? and Blaze.. send me an email.. my Global is the same as my Handle..

Well you can always get IR for your travel power and with siphon speed you have a kinda of super speed and super jump. My fire/kin troller has fly and one of my fire/kin corrs has both IR and hover. It all depends on how you slot. My fire/kin troller has 54% defense (smashing/lethal) and a 64% defense on Psionics and an overall 61% resistance, and a 253% recharge rate (including hasten -- 183% without). Tohit is 105% (with tactics and bonuses), accuracy is 73%, and damage is 225%. She doesn't really need to worry about defense since she kills mobs so quickly. However, the defense I would like to improve on, and will imrpove on if I ever decide to play Heroes again is her AoE defense. Right now it is only 2% which is bleh! But then you have to think about what kind of defense you need for your typical farming. Most tend to farming smashing/damage mobs so a 50% defense is excellent. Your FS and Transfusion debuffs the heck out of the mobs anyways!

Oh and if you have a 6-slotted Transference with efficacy adaptors and the right set of bonuses and/or accolades, you really do not need to worry about your endurance with Leadership. My fire/kin has an endurance recovery rate of 18.5/s, which is not too shabby since she can go from 0-100% end in 6 seconds. I never have endurance problems.

Jesus ... Can you post the Build you Use on That Kin?... I just changed a few things around on that stone build and am only at about 45% S/L defense, 13.5% psi defense, 162% recharge(with hasten.. 92.5% without) 0% to hit bonus.. I would LOVE to see what you did to get those numbers

Soulbound Allegiance is not helping your Imps. There was a post recently where the devs specifically say that it does not work on Imps (I think it says any pet that does not summon as level 50 it does not work on).

If I can find it I will post it.

Not sure if the set bonuses still work for you though.
