Can we have a Delete All E-Mail option?

This might have been suggested previously....but it would be wonderful if we could just delete all of our e-mails when we log in. Clicking Delete 111 times like I just did is not "hard" to do but really I shouldn't have to. I am not going to bother with the Spam e-mail list because that does not work...I would just like to click Delete All one time and move on with my life. Is this important...No...but I still wish we could have it.

But I think I'd rather just have e-mail filters that allow me to limit who is able to send me e-mail in the first place. Your suggest, while fine, is reactive. I'd rather have a proactive approach.

I have supported e-mail filters, disabling, and 'delete all' every time the subject has come up before and I continue to support those notions.

If a person doesn't care who the emails are from, I see no problems with a delete all button.

I'm assuming this is directed at all the spam tho, and I'd much rather see spam petitions generated so those accounts get banned.

If a delete all generated spam petitions it could accidentally petition an innocent player. I only think of this because I just got contacted by email by an old friend over the weekend who had been gone for around a year. He mailed me his new global so I could look him up. If I hadn't gone thru the emails I would have missed it.

Still not a bad idea, just needs more fleshing out.

Also Aett makes a good point.

This, honestly.

Though I'd like if any emails from "empty" due to that account being banned (as opposed to just a deleted character) went away, or at least you had that option - it'd reduce the visual impact of it.

(Specifying from banned accounts because I have one from a friend, no longer in the game, from a deleted character of hers that also shows "empty," and would be highly irritated if that one went away.)

So, in theory, we'd prefer the options in this order:

1) Allow us to filter our incoming e-mail

2) Remove e-mail from banned accounts

3) allow us to have a 'delete all' e-mail button.

Sounds about right. with, of cousre, a confirmation on the delete all.

I never use email in game. What irritates me is the bright red "EMAIL" button showing up on my tray. Can we get a "turn off notification" option so that that never goes red when there are emails present?

Obviously that doesn't address the issue for folks who do use the email system, but for people like me who don't touch it, having it out of sight, out of mind would be great!

This suggestion has honestly come up more times than I can count and I have yet to see a dissenting argument for it.

My question is: why isn't it in game yet?

Coding issues, most likely.

The e-mail system, while it may appear simple to us, might be more complex behind the scenes. The person who coded the e-mail system into the game may have left the company, and nobody can figure out how the heck he got it to work in the first place, let alone how to modify it.

Or, the Devs have some use for e-mail coming up that our suggestions can't be put in as we're putting them forth.

Or, the Devs secretly ARE the RMT guys, and they're just making money off of the sales, and need the advertisement.

Two things to illustrate this:

Castle and Ghost Widow (as I recall) recently - as in within the last year - found out how Taunt was *actually* working, versus what (if I'm remembering this right) the documentation said it was supposed to be doing. It was *vastly* different.

Then there's Arcanaville's comment - don't recall if she made it here or in the beta section somewhere when one was running. Essentially it boiled down to "I've seen a lot of people guess at how the system works. The number right in the past five years: exactly 0. If you think you know how the system works, you're wrong. If you're a programmer/DBA and base how you think it works off your prior experience, you're *really* wrong."

There is a great thought I just read in here. An email filter that allows ONLY those on your global friends list to send you email! No more influence for dollars SPAM, no more Power Level to 50 for X dollar emails. Oh would that be pure heaven. ALAS it will never happen.

But one could hope.
