Ironforge Syndrome
good point....
as Ood Sigma said....We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep. This song is ending. But the story never ends.
Um.. put away the Apple 2E and buy a new rig? Upgrade? I dunno..

Good point. i'm currently limping along on one of the early Core2Duos with only 2 gigs of RAM and a GeForce 7900GS, so my system sometimes bogs down near the AE buildings. i swear i'll upgrade to a modern system one of these days, but in the meantime i'll do my best to suck it up and deal. Thank you for putting things in perspective without resorting to hyperbole.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

Only if you're paying. Sad to say, I don't have a couple G's burning a hole in my pocket. If I did, I would be paying off the debt from my utility bills and buying some decent food for a change.

Mmm... ramen.
I get the same issue on my 6000-series card... pauses, that is, thankfully not crashes.
The way the AE works, it unfortunately makes more sense for players to congregate in one area to find teams easiest. Atlas and Cap win because everyone can get there easily regardless of level. But, yeah, when it's just my buddies and I, we usually work out of Talos instead of Atlas for performance reasons. And you've still got a WW, trainer, and stores very close by. Only the Hero Corps liason is a bit of a flight.
They're just very accessible, and since people gather there - more people will come. Who wants to be in an empty zone if you're lookin' for a team? Ironforge was accessible and had a lot of important things in it, much like Atlas and Cap. >>
Amusing little side-note:
Cap has the University, BM, AE, Vanguard, and Midnighters.
St. Matial has a Lab, BM, AE, and Vanguard. It's a ghost town.
Both are accessable from the same Ferry.
Clearly, the Midnight Club is just that cool.

Yes and no. The Midnighter Club does matter, because it's Cimerora and therefore ITF access. Typically when I finish with an ITF, I exit in Cap and then hit the market or storage. There's less pressure to do so nowadays given that we earn merits instead of getting a recipe roll, but even so...
St. Martial has a lab for crafting? Huh. I didn't know that. Did they add it the same time as the one in Port Oakes? When was that, I13? If so, it's still too recent to change established traffic patterns for players - like I said, I didn't know about it.
So it's not surprising that Cap Au Diable is still crowded, even if there's an 'alternative'.
Besides, St. Martial is a much higher-level zone than Cap Au Diable. That matters.

More filler there.
Ironforge, Undercity, and Orgrimmar don't crash on my eight-year-old computer.
Nor do Cap Au Diable and Atlas Park.
I mean, yeah, it gets poor frame rates, but.
Then again, my computer, Iris, is magic, so.
Fun Fact:
There are 18 AE Buildings in CoX. 11 Hero, 6 Villian, and 1 Co-Op.
There is nothing special about the ones in Cap Au Diable and Atlas Park.
I'd like to stop crashing everytime I come withing 100 yards of Aeon City and the Atlas statue. kthnxbai
