OK, do more base damage...what about Domination?

why do people have to complain or say anything about doms they are fine where they are at all you people do is ask for nerfs i swear STOP IT please for the love of pete doms are not supposed to do tons of damage people get a grip.

i think there damage is fine we are controllers/mini blasters not blasters brutes scrappers or corrs leave us be im happy as they are

how fair would it be to be able to hold something then to top it off do crazy damage i dont think so damage is fine now stop asking castle to ruin Dominators please he already screwed up pvp now you want him to screw up our beloved Doms

Nerfs? Where the hell are you getting the idea this is a nerf?

It's a *straight buff*, except in extreme edge-cases (perma-double-dom is edge, triple is with pocket kins ony), which are made up for by only losing out between 5 and 15% damage, which is easily made up for by taking assault, or having room for Fiery Embrace, Aim, or Soul Drain to actually work their magic.

[/ QUOTE ] Its you who need to get a grip. You need to realize the dev datamining has shown that dominators need the damage. The devs are rewriting what doms are supposed to be. We are supposed to be a Control Primary and Damage Primary all in one its just the damage is in the secondary. The only inkling of a nerf here is for the folks who tripple stack domination and the same damage can be made for with either IO set bonuses or assault instead of slotting for so much extra recharge to tripple stack dom.

Edit: But to the OP, the change is that domination is all about added status protection and ability, with the free "fill 'er up!" to the blue bar. Of course.

The damage bonus is being moved to the base damage, but as it's being moved, there are hints that some powers might be re-balanced damage wise to suit their blastery new values. My bets are on Energy assualt doing better, and psychic becoming less top heavy.

As somebody whose first and main villain is a dom, and I play mostly redside, I'll be there with celebratory champaign.

when someone said that domination was getting nerfed, I was... extremelly skeptical. The more I learn, though, the more that the change seems like a positive. As someone recently reminded me in the PvP forums, however, there is a significant chance that dom's damage buff will be removed and NOT replaced with any corresponding increase in the PvP damage of domintor attacks, but PvP is a fairly small portion of the game. For most game-play, it will increase the over-all power of the class.

Also, perma-domination wills till own. I've never seena controller that can lock down a room full of bosses effortlessly (handy for the avid ITF enthusiasts in the audiance; to say nothing of those trying to lock down pesky Rikti Magi before they kill you), or stack well over 60 magnitude worth of hold on an archvillain.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, I doubt that's possible. The damage change to Doms is in their damage modifiers, which I'm 90% certain is in the class of "can't be different between PvP and PvE". After all, every other AT keep their damage mods the same between PvE and PvP.

Why?

Castle is saying this dmg buff is the equivalent of having domination dmg all the time.

Why was it okay that PSW + dom to be WAI for years, but now PSW + dmg buff (that equals dom) is suddenly too much and needs nerfing?

It's still a lvl 38 final power and it still requires full slotting to shine (lvl 40).

If you want it to fit a rule, then move it to lvl 4 availability like Ice Sword Circle because it's not a tier 9 anymore.


Please buff Ice Control.

Damage modifiers were kept the same, it was individual power's damage that was altered based on activation time.

There is a big difference if you know how the mods work. You see a power has a damage cap % that it can not go over. It didn't matter if you had triple dom and a kin cast fs, you were at the cap and could not do more then X damage. Now with increased base damage that cap % is the same but it is now more damage.

Lets say you do 100 base damage, at the old cap you would do 400 damage. Now you 110 base damage, so at the cap you do 440 damage. Just to simplify things.


As far as the damage buff changes, I am all for it. Having domination being a focus on control and our damage being stable is great.

Now the PSW talk, I don't mind it as of know. This is only rumors, all we know is castle is looking at it, and if PSW is adjusted the rest of the set would be brought up to compensate. Until we can test it, there is no reason to get over excited. Plus if anyone didn't know PSW was overpowered to begin with, they might want to take a step back and really look at it.

hmm the whole time I thought defs and corrs had different modifiers. Same for brutes and tanks

You are right though that base modifiers do still play a role for some AT's. A scrapper hits harder with the same attack than a brute does, though not by the same modifier proportion as they do in pve.
