Well, I know my own MA stuff isn't focused on farming and cannot be mistaken for a farm.
Positron's warning about not even putting the word "farm" or making any association to it in ones' arc description was probably just meant to help lessen the workload for the GMs making the call about whether an arc is or is not a farm.
I believe that a Kheldian Gold Standard should be based on SO's, and for anything above that... there's Platinum!

THIS thread, though is about Challenge Missions, and whether people would still run them if they had no XP or Tickets.
While not in reference to the quote, yes, the same NPC can be easy for one AT and a deathknell for another. That applies to regular game content, too.
Challenge Missions are usually Scrapper Challenge Missions, I'm just being less specific than that.

I tried Arcanaville's Scrapper Challenge with my old level 41 Spines/Dark, and the first spawn dropped me like a Lehman Brothers' bond rating. I need to
a) learn how to slot up powers correctly (which sets, etc)
b) remember to lower my difficulty on something called "Scrapper Challenge"
I'm definitely not a Scrapper expert, or even a Scrapper novice, but from what I saw in examining Spines/Dark, you probably cannot stack stun effect on Lt's and Bosses and because Spines relies on Lethal/Toxic damage, anything that heavily resists that would probably pose a problem.

In all seriousness, I tried my own with a blaster, controller, scrapper, tanker, and brute. The blaster and controller had inspirations coming out of their pockets, but I did try it. Managed to get past the first wave, and get killed somewhat into the second on my blaster.
Tried a second time with my blaster, and something other than an optimized inspiration tray, and on heroic. Managed to hover snipe my way to getting through wave one after a lot of scrambling.
I don't really recommend it for a non-melee, but on the other hand the choice is entirely up to the player (as are the conditions under which they want to use the mission to stress-test their characters).
By the way: still working on the 4.0 update to that mission. Thinking about something a little more goal-oriented, but still testing ideas.

As for updating your missions, I suppose you could add optional NPC allies to provide different "roles" that the solo player may lack.
