DB/WP or DB/SR?

Hi everyone!

I know DB was practically made for WP, but am I shooting myself in the foot by going SR instead?

Really I'm wondering if WP works so well with DB that SR will just be a needless headache in comparison.

Thanks for your responses.

PvP: SR
PvE: Probably WP.

Nope. Only QR makes it "made for DB," but QR is overrated.

Nope. Again, QR and /wp being a smoother ride makes it easier, but it's by no means a needless headache and it has just as good, if not better end game potential if you are willing to invest in it.

SR is only annoying before level 22 or so. After you get SOs (which in today's post-AE world, takes like 15 minutes), you become more an more unstoppable.

It's kind of like a train. Takes a while to get going fast, then nothing can stop it.

All WP offers to DB over SR is QR, which while nice, deasn´t really make or break any deals.

That said, SR before 22 is difficult, and deasn´t really start to shine till the early 30s. But boy does it shine. WP will offer a (much) smoother ride, but (provided a modest IO investment) you won´t be as hard to kill by a long shot.

For what it´s worth, my first toon ever, and my first 50 was a DB/SR scrapper, and it´s what sold me on the game.

Just make sure you realize that DB/SR is going to be a very tight build.

I nearly went SR, but *wow* that was a tight build when I planned it out. After having that issue with MA/SR, I didn't want to go down that road again.

Currently playing:
The Domestic: Broom/WP
Shadowhex: Dark Control/Dark Affinity
Defenestration Lass: Grav/Kin

Love my DB/SR. Always loved my DB/SR. Loved her at level 1, loved her at level 20, love her at 50.

At lower levels, you need to keep track of your endurance, though honestly I'd run solo with my defenses off most of the time until I got to SOs, essentially playing her like a blapper. Once I got Stamina and dropped some End Reducers in the attacks, everything got toggled on and left that way.

And yes, it can be a tight build, depending on your preferences. If you go Boxing/tough/weave, you increase your durability a bit and reduce the need for IO sets to softcap your build, but it's very easy to softcap SR without Weave, and for most purposes Tough isn't necessary and Boxing is a wasted power. I took the leadership pool for Maneuvers and Tactics instead -- Six slotted with Gaussians, Tactics becomes a defensive power too.

I've never been able to get excited about the WP set... just a matter of personal preference. I know it can be awesome (like any other Scrapper set). I may give it another try after I get one or two of my current 40s up to 50.

What would be the DB/SR build?

I'm kinda interested in the DB/WP builds that people have had luck with. I've gotten my DB/WP up to 25 now, and I'm trying out new tweaks to see what works better.

I like /WP as a secondary but have recently converted over to /SR and /Shield as my secondaries of choice. My DB/SR and Claws/SR scrappers are amazing. I have them both softcapped now and level by street hunting in PI, putting myself in stupid situations (multiple +3 or +4 bosses) that I still somehow survive. Once I get aid self on these guys they will really become supermen. I love /WP too, but the speed, +recharge and one on one survivability of SR and Shield are more my playstyle. /WP is going to be better at fighting larger groups that will poke holes in your 1/10 softcap defenses. Though, to be honest, I normally do just fine with larger groups with my /SR so long as I start killing them off quickly.

The only thing in the game made for DB is fury of the gladiator proc in sweeping strike (which I guess is arguable, too cause it would rule in my /mm blaster in the PBAoE (forgot name)) and put achilles' heel in ablating strike- insane.

That in mind, I like sr more than wp.

I have a DB/SR who just reached 22 and got SOs, and he's a lot of fun.

Several people have said that DB/SR is a very tight build. Can you give me an example of a good build for this toon?
