There is a global channel called MA Arc Finder.

This global channel is open to all and is intended for across all servers to help players promote, locate or get tech help with Mission Architect story arcs.

NOTE - This Channel is meant to be CROSS SERVER. It is intended as a way to help locate arcs you might want to play and to promote your own arcs beyond your home server. It is in no way meant to replace individual server channels.

Check out one of my most recent arcs:
457506 - A Very Special Episode - An abandoned TV, a missing kid's TV show host and more
416951 - The Ms. Manners Task Force - More wacky villains, Wannabes. things in poor taste

or one of my other arcs including two 2010 Player's Choice Winners and an2009 Official AE Awards Nominee for Best Original Story

Considering asking the Mods about using the Forums to set up a stickied "MA copy-edit exchange".

Helpful players with strong writing and/or language skills offer no-charge copy-editing for any in-mission text - checking spelling, grammar, punctuation, and usage.

No content will be altered except where specifically requested, and even then changes will be minor (for the sake of both parties' sanity).

I don't plan on using the MA much, but I'm a professional journalist with copy-editing experience, and don't like to imagine that otherwise awesome arcs might get bad ratings due to avoidable errors, or confusing phrasing, in mission text.

Anybody interested? On either side? (copy-editors or people who might like some help with the writing)

This is the first that I know of Mission Search Site, done by High Treason.

Mission Search

Look for arcs by various criteria not listed in game. Add your arcs, or ones you've played. Has user comments so that people can discuss the arcs in question. It also has staff reviews on some of them (yes, I are staff). A good way to promote your arcs and/or find ones that you might enjoy playing.

I'm Tealeaf, and I approve of this message.

With a name like that, it sounds like a good place to locate/promote an arc.

Anyone know a good global channel devoted solely to MA tips and help? I'm hoping for one where the help tips won't get drowned out by the arc promotion spam.

I guess I should post it here too. I started a website for sharing and downloading custom content. The url is www.CustomCoH.com

Unfortunately, when I tried to save myself time by taking a set of custom villains and the custom villain group containing them, making copies, and editing the .critter and .cvg files with the new names and 'allegiance' (I needed two separate groups of soldiers with different uniforms), the second set of custom villains and their group did not show up in the list of available custom villains or groups, as if the server kept track of what I'd created and didn't know about my additions, even after completely exiting and restarting the client several times.

I made a post about doing spelling/grammar checks on the general MA Discussion board, but I probably should have put it here. Here is the link:

My offer to check your spelling and grammar

Please check it out if you'd like a complementary spell check!

(I hope this isn't breaking any rules on cross-posting. I just want to make sure people who want to use this know it's available )

I have made a spreadsheet for using with MA, feel free to use it yourself.

It's very basic, but it will allow you to write text for your arc when you are not actually on CoX, or write into the spreadsheet in case their is a hiccup, such as a crash or accidental block-text delete and you lose a lot of work.

There is an Excel version and an OpenOffice version. I don't know anything about Macs, but if someone can tell me what file format they use then I'll try to put that up to, if anyone wants it.

Hope it's useful to someone!

Edit: You forgot to link it Decorum. No one will ever find it now!

Howdy all,

Just launched a new site at the end of last week:

City of Heroes Mission Review

One big issue that many testers in both Closed and Open Beta brought up was that the single 1-5 star rating system just wasn’t helpful enough in determining which missions are worth running, and which are worth skipping. Many authors don’t write a sufficiently detailed description, either, which makes it even worse. That’s where this site steps in.

City of Heroes Mission Review (CoHMR) was designed to serve two purposes:

1. To provide a place where mission authors can post detailed information about their creations;

2. To provide a system where the CoH/CoV community can review the missions they’ve played, and give feedback to the mission author.

CoHMR captures real reviews by real players, and, rather than the single 1-5 star rating in-game, lets you dive into more detail about the mission, capturing ratings on four valuable aspects of a mission -- Story, Design, Gameplay, and Detail -- along with a written review.

In less than a week, we've received nearly 50 mission submissions, so we're off to a nice start. Always looking for feedback and suggestions.

Ah, I don't know why I didn't know about this thread before. Anyway, I'm hear to announce:

The Mission Architect Advanced Search Site

Have trouble finding the arcs that you want to play buried in there among everything else? Want more search criteria than just the rating (which is completely unstandardized and basically tells you nothing), length (which is vague and inaccurate), servers (which you'll rarely change), and morality?

If so, then buddy, have I got the site for you! Head on over to The Mission Architect Advanced Search Site. There are already almost 80 arcs listed which can be searched by a large number of criteria so you can find the one you want to play.

At the site you can currently search for arcs by
<ul type="square">[*]Name[*]Arc ID[*]Author[*]Dynamic Tags[*]Focus(combat/story)[*]Style(Standard/Comedy/Non-Superhero)[*]Difficulty[*]Number of Missions[*]Number of Elite Bosses[*]Number of Arch Villains[*]Combined Number of Elite Bosses and Arch Villains[*]Number of Required Objectives[*]Level Range[*]Alignment[*]Publication Date[*]Servers(Test/Live)[*]Whether the arc is currently published
In addition to the incredibly robust search capabilities of the site it also provides a number of other services to the Mission Architect community.
<ul type="square">[*]There is no limit to the length of arc descriptions so mission authors can post detailed information about their creations[*]Players can comment on the missions they've played and leave feedback for the mission author and other players who are considering that arc[*]Detailed staff reviews of arcs[*]Member profile pages where players can see all of a member's arcs and comments[*]Random arc suggestions. A random arc from the database always appears on the front page. On top of the search results page there is a random arc matching your search criteria
As if that weren't enough, even more features are coming soon! Take a look at the following features which will be implemented in the next couple days:

<ul type="square">[*]Public favorites. You'll be able to add an arc to your favorites and see other people's favorites from their profile page[*]Links in arc details. You'll be able to add a link to reviews on another site in your arc's description.
More and more arcs are being added daily. I have honestly not used the in-game search function since this site started. This is such a better way to find quality arcs to play.

Add your arc today! Then search away and play!

Could you possibly upload this somewhere that doesn't require registration or unblocking ad sites? Google Docs would be a good place.

Virtue MA Arc Testing

This is a channel for authors, players, and badge-hunters on the Virtue server find players to participate in Test-mode teaming. This should help both in the thorough testing of arcs before publication, and in getting those harder-to-reach Test-mode only badges.

Hoping to see sister channels on the other servers in the near future.
