Nike IX origin story
should be fun
on a side note...am I the only one who thinks about the shoes when I read that name?

Oddly, I think back to the Roman (He was Roman, wasn't he?) god that inspired the shoe company.
EDIT: Nupe, Greek goddess. Whoops!
.. I was thinking of the goddess, not the shoe.

I thought of both.
But, then, I'm not entirely surprised there for reasons we don't really need to get into!
(And I'll check into it next time I'm on Test, Nike. :3 Probably this weekend.)
Thank you. I'm looking forward to the feedback. So far it's working pretty well. I tried to make the MA jump through some hoops to tell a story.
Its all a Nemesis plot (of course).
WOW.
OK that's a really sweet arc. There's tension, there's a cute heroine, there's nasty bad guys in it... and of course, a handsome financier who... might be somebody's love interest.
Only faults I saw were spelling, mostly in the dialogue, interaction text on objects, and the clues. Also, the way you constructed your "x Objects to Interact" counts were a bit off. Remember that when you have several, it puts the number at the beginning, so saying "verb the nouns" it comes out wrong. Instead it should be "nouns to verb" which will look right when you put a number at the beginning, so: "X nouns to verb".
Other than that... EXCELLENT. I'd give it four stars if it were on Live... because it's test... you get Five.
(and there's a rhyme! Whee!)

Thanks, Soul Train!
Good point on the "X things to do". I'll fold that in. I've gotten a number of useful critiques and observations. Its definitely better than my first attempt . The Architect is a powerful tool - which means there's a lot of ways to go wrong, and a lot of little nuances to learn .
Something went wonky in the editor and I had to republish my arc. Soul, if you get a chance, would you please run it again? I think I've fixed the problems you mentioned . Cleaner exposition, tighter script, fewer typos.
(shooting for that 'live 5-star worthy' rating! )
I'm avoiding all the Issue 14 hype until it goes live, but I know I simply must play this arc. I'm such a Nike IX fangirl.
Glad you are letting us experience her story!

I wait til stuff hits live as well, I rarely if ever go on test, but i'll keep this arc in mind.
and this might be the Top Cow fan in me but the first time I saw the name Nike XI, "Aphrodite IX" came to mind. heh

Slag Heap: Why you hurt Guardian!? Guardian no hurt you!
It's shaking out pretty well now. Lots to do and see. I recommend getting the allies lost once each mission just to see what they do...
With the mythology reference in the name, most people miss that she has a Science origin.

I can totally see 'Shrike in the lead role for this arc. I want to be sure that the player is still the star of the show. Fledgling heroes need someone to show them the way !
Was very amusing having Widow Alma trooper through things in her 'hero' disguise (and it's unintentionally hilarious, to me, if you do play through it as a villain!), but found it very pleasant overall. Really liked the complexity of objectives, and felt it was well written (besides a few minor typos in a few places - all of which are very common spelling mistakes).
The only real problem I ran into was the Prisoners in the first mission all spawning as Lieutenants or Bosses, having Lt/Boss-level HP, but for some odd reason conning White and Yellow. No minions in sight. I thought I was just going crazy, but then I sliced through everything else in the mission (and the rest of the arc) far faster then I did them. But I'm not sure if that's something you can technically fix (could just be a spawn issue), but was consistent in 3 restarts to adjust my difficulty.
But, it didn't detract from the entertainment factor.
The Hard-To-Please Fox Ministry of Review gives it 4 rice bowls, putting it solidly in the 'great stuff' category.
...I'm also going to have to go through and mix things up a bit in my own arc now. Very inspiring.
Thanks for trying it out! One tester commented in the final scene "Hmm, we apparently haven't done enough damage to this state-of-the-art facility. Lets break somemore!" So I can see how a villian might find the arc pretty amusing .
That first map does a couple of buggy things. The prisoner spawns are odd, but hopefully they'll get that fixed (shortly) after it goes live.
I'll keep sweeping for typos, but its hard to proofread your own writing .
I know how that is... I'm still working on revising the text in my arc, and I keep getting hung up on minor things. x.x And filling in words in my head, that aren't there in fact.
I think the more familiar the writing gets, the harder it is to actually fix. That's why I never proofread my own works, and always make sure the people I do make proofread it rotate out on a regular basis so there's always a 'fresh' view on it. >>
I should've kept better notes. :/ Might've helped there! ._.
Aha! I can cut and paste the text from the mission editor into a word processor and spell check it there. Found a couple of errors almost immediately. That should help considerably in the clean up process .
Gave you 5 Stars just because you told a great story and used the MA for some nifty ideas. Once Everything goes live I'll 5 star it again, LOL. I figured out how to make a Non-Cut scene, of sorts. Once I perfect it I will let you know. Overall, though, great story and I'm keeping the Golden Feather as a souvenir. Hey, and thanks for letting me know about the Cut/Paste capability. That will help immensely.
So, I guess you took my comments into consideration, I hope ^.^
I might try it again, I'm hearing rave reviews :3
Honestly, everyone I've played it with or listened to as they were running it has provided good critiques and valuable feedback. I think I've gotten rid of all the typos now and tightened up the scripts to where they are fairly reliable (there are still spawning oddities on the first map, but they seem to be global problems with the MA, not something I'm specifically doing wrong). I've had all hero archetypes run through it now, singly or in pairs, and it seems to be balanced pretty well for everybody (except Khelds who are specifically warned on the packaging). I'd love to get a bigger group together to try it out at some point . I'm even looking into commissioning art for the arc to use for promotion once things go live.
Yes, try it again. You'll like it .
*chuckle* I may be barely adequate at image clean-up and painting, but I just got a profound lesson in how much more there is to learn about using photoshop to aply text to an image .
Anyway, my first attempt at a promotional poster
Taking Flight!
*snatches a golden feather as it flutters down*
been busy, I this is the first thing I'm gonna do in game ^.^
Taking Flight is published and running smoothly on Live (Arc# 1166). The 4th act is now available for folks who were kind enough to help with the testing .
Thanks everyone!!
Oh I redid it with a friend of mine on test like a week ago, I like the fixes you put in ^.^
I'll run through it later. :3 Just debating on whom. >>
For those of you who have checked out my art gallery in the past, I thought I'd mention that I've put up a arc about Nike IX's origins on the test server (and strangely, the evolution of her costume). It's 3 missions long - I'll include a final mission once Issue 14 goes live. I'm still learning to use the tools, so pardon the mess .
The arc is called Nike IX: Taking Flight and is published under the chat handle Dragon Pearl.
