Darn logic.
Good art has very little to do with logic, and very much to do with AWESOME!
And I think in at least this case, Juggy just art-fu'd the end result (which is fairly awesome - the colors are beautiful, mang!). While he's got an idea of the origin behind the character, in this case, he's just the guy with the pen (so to speak).
And with gunz like that, I'm not gonna argue with the man! D:

As for his daughter, Statesman was married to Lord Recluse's sister. I'll have to check the novels again to get her name.

I'm loving the shading (Very cel-shaded feel) you've been doing over recent times. So much of your stuff has had a look of a quality animated movie.
As for the poses, I kinda see it as though the parents have her back.

Let's not forget that Stephan had dad killed after he got back from the Well Incident. As well as Marcus' brother.
Never mind that Marcus and his brother were practically siblings to Stephan and Monica... (aka Maiden Justice). 
(Marcus and his brother lost there parents growing up, and the Ricther's took them in. While growing up, Marcus got a pendent with a drop of water from the Fountain, which is why he knew the well was real, so did Stephan. The pendant was from a woman he helped out when he was a kid, IIRC).

I had originally wanted the 'parents' staning behind loking stern - so I was going to put them there with arms crissed. For some reason I decided against that and went with a clenched fist.

But, for me, they just look like they're posing somewhat stoically/sternly... Like the egotists that they are.
Suits them in my eyes, but I've only got two out of the many others that'll look at it.
(Another possibility is that they're threatening the new boyfriend quietly behind States's back)

I thought the clenched fists thing looked out as well, either that they had something against States, or they're seeing someone that we don't see and threatening them to watch their moves/intentions regarding States.
Besides that it's well drawn to me.
