Wow. That is really nice.
Hey nice! He should totally use that as an icon now. And there's nothing wrong with Red and Yellow. Not as long as Hulkamania and Bayani have anything to say anything about it.
Not bad
Oh, yellow and red can go fine together, Iron Man looks AWESOME... but the in-game colors Sunstorm wears are straight-out-of-the-tube*, which I rarely like using. This piece was a bit of a stretch from my comfort zone, but I think I like the result.
*For example: One of the things I HATE about Smallville (aside from the anemic plot lines and overproduced characters) is that Clark is ALWAYS wearing the SAME primary color shirt and jacket. We get it already, he's Superman... tone it down some!

I understand what you are saying. I do. However, I will admit that I do that with my hero as well. Light Runner primary colors are white/blue/yellow and in all of his costumes even his civies they have does colors in it. Its like he is not Light Runner if he is not white/yellow/blue...
I really like this. Would make a great avatar!

Ahh yes, saw that in the greeting thread, it's an extremely nice piece.
Being a NASA/Sci-fi junky, the other avatar had me with the SOHO image used in the background though.
I'll definitely want a full size copy of that though
Huh, I always thought that Sunstorm was ORANGE and yellow... well, it always looked like orange to me.
Maybe I need to get my eyes checked.
EDIT: First name after a redpost that I made an avatar for!
odd, I've always seen it as orange and yellow as well, maybe it's a color optical illusion due to the yellow.. *shrugs*
Here's a pwiki pic for reference: Sunstorm
nevertheless it's still an awesome piece of artwork

Slag Heap: Why you hurt Guardian!? Guardian no hurt you!
<shakes fist at Philotic> You poach my avatar goodness AND point out my fatal flaw?! Gah!!
I have no idea HOW I saw red and yellow as opposed to orange and yellow... perhaps the in-game screenshot I took was at an odd time of day, so the light deepened the shade of orange to a brick red... Yeah... that's what happened >.>

edit: I'm glad you like it Sunstorm. Check your inbox, you've got a full-sized and signed (for what it's worth) original
The reason you are finding this color combo dissonant is because the yellow on the in-game avatar has blue in it, throwing off the normally pleasing yellow + red combo.
Take the yellow back to pure primary and it'll be right on.

PS: 'pure' hues (not tinted, shaded or mixed) are hard to find at times on the palette we have.
PPS: nice work!

I don't like your art... because it's TOO good. It looks like you really took a dude and painted his whole body orange and yellow.
And that just ain't right dude.
If Firethorn is like me, he probably used a pic of himself since models (especially guys) are kind of hard to come by unless people really know you. Getting them to pose is even harder. I've made pictures similar in style so if I had to guess I would say that it truely is a real dude.

TJ hates to quibble here, but this is the way Clark Kent has been depicted for years, not just on Smallville.
In the various Superman series, Clark wore a blue suit, white shirt, and red tie for years. TJ can't recall when it was, probably when he returned after the Death of Superman run, but TJ was shocked to see him in something other than that same old outfit.
During the various Superboy series over the years, Clark was generally depicted with blue pants, a white shirt, and often a red sweater or sweater vest with yellow piping.
Having Clark wear the same primary color scheme on Smallville is just carrying on that tradition. It's actually rather nice to see them keeping "something" traditional since they are changing so much of the mythos.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

It is a "real dude" who has had Sunstorm painted onto him. Take a look at the [Source] on the bottom of the DeviantArt page containing the original image.
Edited to include the link.
Shhh!!! Mah secrets!
I enjoy creating photo-manipulations when there's an appropriate pose for a given piece, but I think the next Dev piece I do will be from "scratch"
[edit] ...and TJ, you're right of course... I think I just focus all of my angst about Smallville into a nit pick I have about the overuse of primary colors that assaults my own style. We artists are fickle after all
do synapse....
I recently created a deviant art piece for our very first Kheldian redname, which you can check out here: Sunstorm
The idea was to create something of a higher-resolution, non-screenshot nature that he could use as an avatar, though he's since picked another. What do y'all think?
