Easy now. Don't open up on someone just 'cause he states his opinion. If that's how he feels, that's cool. I don't think that makes him a troll (at least I hope not).

That being said, I'll throw in my two cents.

Jaz, this isn't some huge CoX marketing conspiracy. It's a contest being put together by w00t Studios celebrating their third anniversary. I figure it's a nice thing for them to offer up, and if they get a little pub out of it and some cool art then great!

You know it's hard for me to pass up a good contest. I may throw something in the ring. I'm trying to get something together for the XNA contest at the moment.

The General forums were ignored

Champion forums gave me a rickroll

and the Art forum told me sorrry, not this time and then yelled at us for giving away exclusive items.

Sometimes I don't get people.
I'm just glad I have you guys around.

As an Art/Screenshot regular, let me just say that this was just one person's opinion, and I wouldn't let that post portray all of the folks who frequent that section.

That's coz we're the cool people. But don't let it get you down, I think we're kind of all feeling the effects of a negative surge right about now - seems to be happening to a lot of folks I know for absolutely no reason at all.

It seems to hit with the first announcements of any new issue. We get the first of many previews, and a cadre of folks leap up and go "THAT'S IT?!?!? THAT SUXORS!!!" Excitable people, those folks are, but they introduce a huge negative vibe into the community, and squelch those who are nearer the middle on the excitement scale, like myself.

But I've shown several people Ash's video, and every single one of them has watched with eyes growing wider as it goes on. And I've talked to several folks on Pinnacle who are excited as hell to have an opportunity to compete for prizes with graphic art as opposed to video editing. We have some amazing artists out there (I know a couple on Protector too), and this will give them the ability to shine.

If the general forum folks aren't interested, their loss. If someone's going to rickroll in response on Champion, don't bother with them. If the art forum snobs want nothing to do with anything that "cheapens their art," that's their loss.

This contest is going to go over like gangbusters, and I predict the folks who are being kvetchy about it are going to be in the minority. But, as Dennis Miller used to say, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I've already posted my entries, it was fun to work on these projects and i love the idea of creative contests to win prizes. That way the most deserving and talented get rewarded for their work. Thx again for the fun time and i hope to see more people post their work.

I wanted to add a description but the description field wouldn't work on my browser, and I realized too late I could have tried in IE.

The image is freak-centric because originally it was going to be just Clamor vs. Nemesis, but Nemesis is so much bigger than Clamor (for the poster I actually enlarged Clamor quite a bit) that I felt Clamor could use some backup. Maybe my next entry will focus more on the Nemesis army.

Good lord, there are some awesome entries so far. I will be very difficult to pick a winner.

I hate spending two hours doing something and then just not liking the result. Here's my second entry:

I still like the concept for the image (what happened after the events in the video), but between clipping problems in Nemesis' arm, the background looking distinctly separate from the main image, and lots of wasted space on the top... I hate the execution. Oh well. I'll go ahead and work on recruitment posters later today.

And here's my first recruitment poster. This was a quickie 20-minute thing, and I stupidly didn't tell COH to dump the demo frames as TGA so you can see some JPEG compression in it.
