Nothing yet here either. Though there were plenty of people who submitted/emailed before I did, so I'm probably a bit lower on the list. I used to think a bit highly of gametrailers until this.

...Starting to wonder if lawyers played a trump card on this one.

Man I hope not. I can't even begin to draw the scale of how uncool that would be.

But I am too excited about the Tropic Thunder premiere tonight to worry about this really.

Whole bunch of movies just showed up on the main contest site...not mine, but still...

mine is up.. but it was the one i uploaded to filefront. all my info -- even the title was wrong lol. so i just cancelled my STILL compressing version and kept that one. did the other folks who just got posted upload to other sites and email GT as well as Dark Respite had suggested earlier?

Wow, ok.....a bunch of videos are up. My initial reaction was Whooo Hooo!

But then as I watch them one by one (through about 7 of them) I notice that I have YET to see a new one that would be considered "legal".

I've seen videos go over the 4:00 mark, cussing, the Hulk, a number of production company logos, more outside sound effects and music than I can count....so I'm wondering...as crazy as this may sound...but is it possible someone at GT posted the wrong batch of videos. Meaning, the ones that had been DQ'd?

I think I'm done watching for now. Taking a break.

The good news.....I think....is that they're still posting videos.

I feel apprehensive posting anything else in this thread.

The whole contest has been a very strange experience. Rules that require a copyright lawyer to untangle.

Granted most are just indications not to misrepresent the game, produce things that would cause copyright infringement, or have others take legal action, or produce material that would need to be censored.

No explanation as to how to upload video content other than odd ramblings within select threads of the gametrailer forums. Now in order to even get into the forums you need to ‘level’ your account by watching a good number of videos.

The only indication I received was that on their forums the weekend was historically a bad time to upload movies. Due to how their server would have to handle conversion to flv, and on average a lot of uploads.

Just getting a non-contest piece of user movie content up was a challenge. A day and a half of trial and error to find a format that would be small, have a large image size ratio, yet look good as flash video.

So sure there was the potential to keep on reworking the piece, but I was paranoid enough as it was just trying to get an entry online before the weekend and during the work week where someone was at the other end of a fax machine. Because who knows what hours the web staff keeps.

I’m not even sure how to feel about much anything at this stage. Some of the latest batch seem to have even gone over the four minute length. And who can even tell when some things were uploaded when to the site on Sunday with severside issues?

Well I'm glad they're posting videos. At the same time I'm in a "lets see what happens next" attitude about the whole thing.

Any way it goes....great job to ANYONE that submitted an entry. It takes a lot of effort (more than I ever thought) to put one of these movies together and there have been some really spectacular ones submitted. And thanks to all that helped to 'clarify' and 'decode' the rules and regulations along the way.

AMEN! This was my first try at making a movie, and I am proud that I actually completed it and got it uploaded in time (still compressing @ 27hrs). I am also agog at all the talent - and giggly at learning some of the tricks mentioned.

I have followed others' leads and posted it on youtube in case it gets DQ'ed or lost in compresssion-land. I had some timing issues and need to learn to edit the demo files, but I like it.

I can say that I don't won't be DQ'ed for the voice talent, 'cause it's all me, baby!

BTW, did anyone notice that the dates on some of the new videos shows August 11th? I wonder if that's the true upload time, or the time it was posted to the page...

I mean, I tried the following commands a few minutes into my STF subroutine:

ITF on test?

I'm game for a Lady Grey TF, the ITF lags me like crazy and disconnects me constantly on the third mission.

test server. great idea! maybe we should start a separate thread to organize this.

i know we're all gonna be obsessing about the contest... so why not do it together and take it out on some baddies.

Please not Saturday morning. Other than that I'm in.

I may have to bring Ipo though....poor 8's only 32.
