  1. Thanks, Alpha. I knew there was a simple explanation. Fingers crossed that they bring it back. Since I solo a lot, things like the occasional Warwolf Whistle make playing a lot more fun.
  2. I don't see a Freebie Friday item today in the market. Has FF been discontinued?

(And, yes, I did log into the game before going to the market. I even logged in and out a couple of times in case it was a temporary glitch.)
  3. Last post before I get cut off at midnight...

That was effing great, but three suggestions

1 - Unless there will be titles or something else on top of it, spend less time on the over-water establishing shot. I love it, but audiences bore easily.

2 - The transition from the zooming-panning establishing shot to the first group is kinda jarring. There needs to be some frames showing the group from above by tilting the camera down as it descends. As it is, they just sort of magically appear.

3 - Lower the CAM's Z co-ord by a couple or ticks to do away with that wasted headroom. NEVER have your subject's head in the vertical center of the frame.

Overall, you've got some great technique here. Study how movies are framed and use that to build on what you've got. Learn about the Rule Of Thirds!

I'll be lurking and watching for how you grow as a director.

    Taking a break

I just wanted to let my fellow videomakers know that starting June 3rd I'll be on hiatus from the CoX world. I've been playing for over three years now and I just need a break.

I *will* be back (already have the time cards stashed away), but right now I need to focus on my real-world filmmaking career.

Y'all have fun and I'll see you in six months or so!
  5. I'm sure C H R O M E will post this in the Events section, but I wanted to share it with my fellow vidiots...

I was approached by the admins of the Chrome Support channel to produce a (gratis) video for them to promote a player event. OK, to be honest their first choice was Samuraiko/Dark_Respite. But I was so honored by Michelle's reference that I accepted the job.

And I'm glad I did. Jaime (C H R O M E) and his group have been gracious and accommodating. Michelle even helped out by contributing a HUGE demofile of a Hami raid (85 MB!!!).

    Anywho... Here's the final product:

    Chrome Support Super Bash 2009
  6. Elric, that was exactly what I needed. Thanks to everyone for your help!
  7. Thanks, but I'm looking for the one with the skyline.
  8. Unfortunately, the CoV kit only has the hero & villain symbols as .ai files.

But I was able to pull a CoV logo on black from the wallpapers. Now I just need a CoH logo on black, preferably with the blue "aura"
  9. Hey guys... I'm wrapping up a vid for the good folks at Chrome Support and I need the CoH & CoV logos on a black background. They can be either together or separate. The fansite kit only has them on white. can someone point me towards a good version on black?

    Thanks in advance!
  10. So was D_R right about how you accomplished it? Come on - share with your fellow demo nerds!

    a demo edit test

Yeah, cinema composition has some different aspects from still photography because it is a dynamic medium. In photography, the eye can be led along a path to discover things. Since cinema is constantly moving, you have to use different ways to get those sames results. But the flip side is that there is so much more potential to evoke emotions and deliver subtext (the real message) within the text (the actual sights and sounds).

    a demo edit test

Oh yeah, looking good! You'll find that if you pan the camera slightly to the right, the character will have more impact and power. In photography and cinematography, it is called the Golden Rule or the Rule of Thirds. Click here for info

And no, that's not a Rikti Roll link - LOL!

    New Video!

Oh, and I have already started rolling with this in Player Questions. Its an instant classic.

    New Video!

    Oh no you ditn't!

That's so evil, my man. Kudos.
  15. Now the race is on to see who produces the first CoH bondage flick...

    LOL
  16. Hoopla! I found them!

    MANACLES_POSE1
    MANACLES_POSE2
    MANACLES_POSE3
  17. Shackle! I tried "chain", "prisoner", "torture", "kinky"...

    OK, not "kinky".

Gracias, Miss Michelle, but I don't think that was it. I seem to remember it being citizen-types in chains. NPCs as set dressing, something like that.
  18. I know I've seen some MOVs where an NPC was chained to a wall, but I can't seem to find it in the codex. Anyone remember what its called, or at least enough of the name that I can find it?

    Storyboards?

So you don't pre-plan the camera angles, at least not outside of your head, right? I think that's the benefit I'm seeing with this exercise. I'm forced to think about positioning of all the backgrounds, objects, actors, camera, etc. for each shot. I think it is helping me when I do my demorecordings to get angles closer to the final one.

    Storyboards?

LOL - I am actually using CoH screenshots from demos to make that storyboard for my class. I just apply the "Find All Edges" effect to the color image and it looks a lot like a sketch. Beats my crappy stick drawings!
  21. Star_Dancer

    Storyboards?

I'm taking a film directing class and my latest assignment is to create a storyboard for a short scene. That got me to wondering: do any of y'all plan your videos using storyboards? I haven't in the past, but I can certainly see where it would help pre-visualize some of my ideas.
  22. I really like that voice. Any possibility of getting her to do some VO work for me?
  23. Great Googely Moogely! Only Leo can whip out that kind of arcane knowledge. Its actually kind of unnerving...
  24. This is a bit off topic, since it doesn't involve a CoH vid...

I have a film that I originally did in 1996 (a documentary about creating an exhibit for the 8th Air Force Museum in Savannah GA) that I am in the process of remastering with current technology. I'm hoping to have it done soon and wanted to share it with some online folks but the original was around 20 minutes and the remaster will be pretty much the same.

I understand that YouTube limits uploads to no more than 10 minutes, so I was wondering if any of y'all could recommend a good video sharing site for longer videos?

    Thanks in advance!
