Oh. My. God.

Leandro, you have the patience of a saint.

On the other hand, isn't that about what you would expect from ConFusionette? {snicker}

I don't see a problem....I'm with Star. That's exactly what I picture Fusionette sounding like.

Hooray, made much progress! Demorecorded a ton of stuff with hubby's help - now I need to modify the code so it has the right characters and then record it.

Still have some shots to film villainside, though - grrrrrr...

As much as I WANTED to be cast as 8 Baller in my movie...my wife said I made a much better villain.

My impression of a big bad guy

I hate being the bad guy...

Number of WeGame avis ripped so far - 3
Number of seconds across these - 30
Number of times Windows Movie Maker has crashed - infinite

Grr....if only I had started screwing around with this long before the deadline...

What's "WeGame avis"?

And sorry to hear about the crashes. My very limited tech advice is...restart...not super helpful.

avis made made from WeGame app. I'm running on the 'using free software' ticket for this contest...

I think those would be AVI files from WeGame.

I am starting to doubt mine because of lack of planning things out.

I'm wondering if all video makers have as much self doubt as this lot does. (including me) Buck up, folks! You'll all do great!

It's a trait I've seen associated among all creative type people. In our minds, we can see every minute detail, and aren't limited by software, rules, or what can actually be done.

My ego and self-confidence are constantly racing back and forth between the polar opposites of "Damn, I'm good," and "OMG I suck".

Of course, it'd be tempting to do a social experiment on the correlation of lack of confidence and final rankings. Leandro and me and Ashcraft all operate under the assumption that we're awful... and yet we're the ones who took first, second, and third place in the PERC contest.

I feel your pain. I used to use WMM and the crashes are what led me to buy Video Studio.

My stats:

Demo Recording files: 170
AVI files captured from demorecordings: 143
Minutes of recorded video: 45
HOURS of audio recording: 41.75

Resulting product: 3 minutes 59 seconds and 28 frames

An hour or two later of updating and things seem to work out fine, now. But I'm out of town this weekend, and Monday and Wednesday are taken up. So if I'm to finish, I only have the rest of tonight, Tuesday after work, and Thursday after work. (Friday after work as well if I decide not to travel until Saturday morning)

Tangent:

This thread is starting to remind me a lot of a support group, like what I've seen from NaNoWriMo local groups. Support, advice, tons of self hatred at one's own work while praising and encouraging others.

Oops. Forgot my disk space (wasted) stats:

Aggregate size of video files: 52.1 GB

Did I mention that I have a terrabyte of storage at my disposal? I'm kinda like that person you know with all the equipment/tools/advantages in the world, but never seems to actually do ANYTHING worthwhile! Except that I work my butt off and have little to show for it...

I may not win the contest, but it won't be for lack of effort! LOL

And just to reiterate (since we're rapidly approaching the point where we have to put up or shut up) - My video is INTENDED to draw laughs. Unless it doesn't. In that case, it's camp. Or parody. Or a blatant ripoff...

EDIT: Pez, this topic has been a support group for me from the start. Seldom do I see so many folks that are in competition with each other actually helping each other (and the countless lurkers too).

On a completely unrelated note: Anyone going to Dragon*Con in Atlanta? I'd love to hook up with some of you guys over the Labor Day weekend festivities.

I am starting to get aggravated with After Effects because it keeps locking up because of the sheer amount of particles in this one sequence. For some reason I decided to create my video where the guy changes his abilities completely instead of just changing costumes. It probably came about when I saw a certain effect on a tutorial site I go to often. Went through and reproduced the results and modified them a good amount so they fit better to come up with a result where my guy goes from hero to villain. I am thinking because of the amount of particles, I am going to have to render some out seperate and then replace them inside the sequence. This is really taking up too much of my time.

Dr_Mayhem, you might want to try the 30-day version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio. It is just a darn cool program, and has yet to give me problems (and I've done some fairly intense work in it). Just a suggestion.

I am fine with After Effects, I know it has the effects I need plus I own the full version. I think the problem is that I am not running it alone, I usually have Firefox going as well as AIM so those take up some memory it needs.

Posted

Vegas is more focused around video editing (with plenty of compositing thrown in), while After Effects is more designed for compositing....sort of a video Photoshop...although I've known people to produce entire videos in After Effects.

Like most things, it's whatever works best for you.

And Doc it sounds like you've got at least a simple temporary solution...stop running all the other apps

Good points!

And strictly from a computer/troubleshooting POV, when's the last time you ran Scandisk/Defrag? Might help speed things up a tad (without having to shell out for more memory or video card)...

You don't even have to go that far - just take a look at the artists in the Screenshot/FanArt forum. This forum is sounding more and more like them every day.

Oooo! Can Zloth get in lots of videos with exceptionally provacative heroines and villainettes like Thor's Assassin? Please? He'll be good. (After all, there's nothing left in that armor but a dried out husk. Well, mostly dried out. Oh, and some Skittles. Dang supergroup silly persons.)
