Dr_Mayhem, send me the demo file at josinclair@samuraiko.com and I'll take a look at it, unless there's NOTHING in it at all - might just be that the code went stupid in a way I can fix.

I am redoing it. Working on the test server because my character is a little older there so I only have to do 3 missions for a new mayhem. This time though, I will be demo recording it and recording the bits with Fraps at the same time in case this happens again.

Just remember to switch over the demo launcher to test mode for those specific Demos, and the file location is on CoHtest, not the regular folder. I was confused for a bit when that happened to me.

Again, if you need help, I can copy quite a range of characters to test if needed.

If you crash while a demo is recording, the demo is gone. The game doesn't save any of the file until you zone or stop recording.

[/ QUOTE ] Yep, thats what I found out and now I am making stupid mistakes like accidently writing over a demo I needed which was the first part of the bank mission.

I must resist the urg to introduce continuity into my video, it would drive me mad to go from having 3 robot minions to only 2.

Hey Guys,

I know some of us wanted to know if we were allowed to utilize outside footage -- as long as it was soley created by us and we owned all the rights to it -- along with our COH/COV footage. Well, I finally got word back and it looks like the answer is "yes!" I myself will be using a very tiny bit of outside footage but most of my film will consit of COH/COV footage. The term 'original' in these Official Rules means the Video was newly created by you, using footage from the Selected Games (as defined below), your own ideas, language, content, images, text, graphics, animation, and other materials and, except for the Selected Games, no element of the Video is copied, derived, translated, adapted or otherwise obtained or copied from anyone or anywhere else, regardless of the source, format or medium. Original also means that, except for the Selected Games, you, and no one else, have complete, sole, exclusive and unrestricted rights, title and interest in and to the Video (including, without limitation, each and all of the underlying elements of the Video) when you submit it to the Contest as part of your entry AND that you have the right and authority to give Sponsor all of the rights in and to your Video and its underlying elements that are described in these Official Rules.

On a limited basis, Sponsor will make available to you certain content owned or controlled by NC Soft and other video game companies, which may include videogame footage, still images, sound and music recordings, and other content, including content from the video games “City of Heroes” and “City of Villians”, (collectively, the “Selected Games”) which video game content shall be made available for download via the gametrailers.com website (collectively, the “Selected Games”) for use solely by you and solely for the purpose of (i) creating a Video in accordance with these Official Rules.

So it looks like you can use content that you yourself created (Live Action, animated, etc...) that nobody else has ownership of.

I have demorecorded pretty much the last of what I needed the mayhem mission for, took a total of 5 mayhem missions for me to get what I needed because I wasn't paying attention in some fashion. So now I just have to convert that and then set up the last scene which should be simple.

Hmmmmm.....fine print on MovieStorm and most likely Antics and other machinima software. MovieStorm's EULA states that the user has a 'license' to the software, which includes all the models/sets/props.

I'm not positive on this but I believe license is not ownership which could cause a problem with the contest.

Anyone have any other or more specific rulings on this?

I've been beta testing Moviestorm for a year now. Any movie you make using the software you OWN 100%. Period. Amen. I'm fairly certain the same goes for Antics and IClone.

EDIT: The whole "license" with the props/models/sets deal is that you can use them in your movie you just can't sell the prop/models/sets like say on a site like google warehouse or something. Moviestorm/Antics/IClone are tools like Photoshop. You own everything you make using Photoshop. Like that awesome digital spray-paint graffiti thingie you did --you just don't own the digital spay-paint can you used to make it with.

Yeah, I feel the same way about the above statement...but then again I feel the same way about Acid and royalty free music loops and they shot that one down early with a great big shot gun

Heh, so I was clearing out all the old footage that I had from the last year or so.........freed up 95 Gig of disk space

*laugh* I have a separate hard drive just for video files - 500GB and it's 3/4 filled already.

All my video related files on my external drive use up about 200 gb. That includes other stuff as well like my VideoCopilot stuff and other projects. So far the clips for my video take up 22 gb because of the resolution which I am recording them at.

I recently bought an external 1TB drive just for my videos. I was using a 200GB partition of a 500GB drive on our home office server, but I was running out of room. This is mo' better. It was surprisingly cheap too - like $180.

Major progress on the video today, in spite of my dad showing up early for his week-long visit. I'm in the home stretch on animations. Doesn't look too shabby...

I have a slight dilemma now. I have a line that contains a mild curse word - "b-a-s-t-a-r-d-s". I'm bleeping it but, like with all bleeps, you can tell what the word actually is. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to whether a bleeped word would violate the prohibition against profanity? I can take it out, but it would be better if it was included.

I had to take out the evil laugh in my script because my actress just couldn't pull it off convincingly. But at least she took it seriously. Sounds like you're dealing with a kid? My sympathies if that is the case...
