Gee look , PERC bumping its own thread and being insulting to people its trying to recruit at the same time , boy theres nothing better then back handed insults like ..well like your whole above quoted post , perhaps PERC should make a list of the "Good Artists " whom they feel need to give back to the community and send them private messages so that the remainder of the forum artists and art lovers whom PERC deems "not good" don't have to bother reading or interacting with our new Art Overlords whom will be deciding what does and does not make a "Good Artist".
You'll have to explain how giving out free art for your contests is giving back to the community and why the art section precisely should have to give back to the community , please don't use the condenscending phrase "It will get you exposure" as for giving back to the community im trying to figure out what the community has been giving the art forum that we should feel the need to give back , Sure if you said "Give back to the Devs" maybe but this not so much .
Heck you might even have better luck if you tried recruiting for a particular contest as opposed to a vauge "Every contest we can think of ".
Why should we as artists give your group more consideration for free art then we do any of the other threads posted by others coming in here asking for free art also known in some circles as begging. "Hay Guis can we has free stuffz for ur contestz but only if yourz Gud at da Artz , K "
What will PERC be using as a measuring table for "Good Art" so we can know weather we should bother or not if we were so inclined to help in the first place .
See you got a reply and you didn't even need to get another PERC member in here to bump your thread .
Heya Deebs!

Sure sure even after I tell my E-husband to stay out of it he goes and posts .
Fine !
But your sleeping on the floor tonight ...traitor !
Free time and energy is something that would be nice to have. If I did have such, I'd be drawing stuff for myself or friends instead of giving away art to people I have no clue of. While I don't have the venomous spite that Deebs does, P.E.R.C. hasn't been the most transparent of organizations in the past and I would shy away from doing it simply due to the involvement of the group.
Perhaps this would be more productive if you'd give us ideas of what exactly you want of said artists and how much demand this is going to put on anyone who agrees. At the moment, it's a blank check for slavery.

Fair question.
As an artist for PERC, you are a consultant, not bound by the normal requirements our representatives have. In other words, when we have contests, when it is convenient for the artist, time-wise, and they are able and willing to provide artwork.
For example, we just had a pretty big Scavenger Hunt contest here on the forums. Offering a customized avatar or personal character artwork could have been a great prize for one if not all of the winners.
How often we would ask for the artwork probably would be once every few months. Even then it would be dependent on the artists who join us as to if they are available and able to do it at the time we request it. At times we may request a bit more, again it is still entirely up to the artists that volunteer as to what they are capable of, and willing to volunteer.
No slave labor here. :-)
As long as it's sold as a per event volunteer thing, and the concerns of each artist (queue length, real world issues, etc) are kept in consideration...
"Exposure" really isn't that big of a motivator, as a lot of the artists here get LOTS of it (cos we art connoisseurs tend to advertise for them when we get new stuff).
Also, as contests go, 'free' art tends to take a back seat to 'paid' art - witness Jomaro's queue for the contest he put on well over a year ago. Of course, he's one of the art gods... so a long queue is expected. So P.E.R.C. would have to make it understood that a contest winner MIGHT (!) be waiting a while for their prize, if the artist has a lot of paying gigs come up.
Personally? I'd recommend passing the hat for art commission DONATIONS. That way those of us with money burning holes in our pockets can chip in for a commission for the winner (and depending on how much the kitty/prize is, they can select the artist they like for the artwork.)
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Woah... I just stumbled into this thread...
*grabs popcorn and takes a seat*
What is P.E.R.C. and why should I care?
Player Event Resource Council
aka a bunch of volunteers that (under the auspices of Ex Libris I believe) put together various events and activities to keep us all amused.

which I guess just leaves the question of "why should I care?"
Because it helps to build a sense of 'community,' which we really already have. While I don't want to have anything to do with the P.E.R.C., some other artist might. There are plenty of artists around these parts, though it will be up to them to decide if they want to help out or not.
Because it's volunteer work, it's 'take what you can get' territory. I'd personally say that you'd have better luck getting commissions from the artists, as that would more guarantee a nice prize for your contest winners. That would require money, however. It's not a situation I would like to find myself in.

Eh I told them I'd do sketches for prizes. Sketches don't take me long at all, so its no real sacrifice on my part. I know I got a huge list of commissions sitting already, but between the last class of graphic design I got going and work, I really only have time to do sketches. Its too bad really, the commissions actually gave me money! But they take up way too much time for this semester.
*sighs and goes to sleep ont he floor*
.......
It really is hard to stay mad at you Shia , Granted your running with an unsavory crowd that I disaprove of and know will lead you astray where i'll likely find you drunk in a ditch , nude, with a feather duster sticking out your backside and a red glove on your head .
but as that is how we first met I suppose I'll have to bear with this ......for now :P
<ties two sheets together so shia can climb back up to the bed >
just stay on your side of the bed as I don't want PERC cooties
*Beams at Scarf! Doesn't mention he volunteered her already for PERC drawings <3*
A question/suggestion:
How many P.E.R.C. members are there? Maybe you should choose a specific event, contact an artist and split the money for an art commission.
Example for $50 commission:
-20 members = $2.50 each
If you can ask an artist to do free artwork, certainly you can ask your own members to donate a small amount of money. Though I think you should limit these commissions to only a few events per year.
Characters:
General Flag - Hero - Tank
Spy Smasher - Hero - Scrap
King Chrono - Villain - Brute
Witch Hazel - Villain - Dom

Are you an artist? Are you interested in sharing your work with the community?

Well then, good news; P.E.R.C. is currently looking to add some artists to our roster who would like to help give back to the "City of" community by donating some of their free time and talent.
Artwork is always an extremely coveted prize by our community. Unfortunately, the current P.E.R.C. representatives' stick figure drawings leave much to be desired. For example.
So if anyone would be willing to assist us in enhancing the overall PvE experience of our shared community by donating personalized artwork for the winners of our events, please send a private message to @CriticalKat.
Please be sure to include any limitations you feel might be pertinent. A link to any artwork samples you have available would also be appreciated.
Thank you for your time, and we hope to see you at our next event!
