I'm a COLLECTOR not an ARTIST!

I'm very diligent in linking and giving credit to the artists but for some reason I keep having to explain to people in-game that I'm not the artist...any other collectors have this problem?

"I'm a Collector not a doctor damnit Jim." That should have been the title.

Hey aren't you a colorist or inker? I remember you doing some stuff in Alex's sketch a day thread.

Turbo, I love your work! Let me know when you can work me in to your schedule

yes but it's not anything special since I just do flats and polygonal lasso inking which is blocky.

DarkJedi: btw someone confused your lightspeed character for Turbo-ski and thought I did the giant Lonestar piece. I don't know how someone can confuse the two with the significant color difference in their costumes...

Sheesh... their only similarity is the ponytail, and maybe their smaller builds. Although, I guess that would make Turbo pretty easy to create in 3D since I've made about a dozen different Light-Speeds.

No fornicating on the art board, how can we draw with such a commotion going on?

My Fire/Cold corruptor is a Turbo Ski tribute...but she's more "firey" looking.

High On Irony.

You mean all those pieces with the different art styles and signatures were not done by you?

It can be quite difficult to draw while fornicating. Hard to keep the paper from crinkling.....

I occasionally get comments like that.

9 times out of ten, it's someone soliciting art for themselves, or promoting some club. Basically spam. I just hide the comments and move on.

We allow observers to do the drawings.

Yeah that happens to me too. Well with a few peices in my gallery that are VERY clearly marked with the original artist and a linkback, somehow people STILL get the idea that I drew it.

Like the CoH 2007 calendar. So many people have thought I actually did that one. Nopers! I'm not that good!

Posted

Yeah, I've had that happen more than once. Not so much now that I don't put any of my commissioned work in my gallery. Doesn't anyone read the artist comments?!?!?

I don't think anyone ever does...

I do.

I read image titles, too, as I've noticed one or two links from here that people'd had commissioned clearly stated such in the image title AND comments.

People are just SILLY.

I just spent the last 15 minutes on the floor laughing over this exact issue. For the sake of commitment, I posted several of my New Year's Resolutions on my DeviantArt journal entry. One of the resolutions is to move within a 20 mile radius of where my girlfriend lives (hard to solidify a relationship when you're over 500 miles apart). Some one took that statement, the fact all the characters I play are female and came to the conclusion I was a female player. Out of curiosity, they sent me a PM asking if I was a lesbian.

I'm still working on a polite reply. (though that person will undoubtedly see this post )

The irony here is my art collection is too small to post on my own DA account. The links in my sig go the images posted on the individual artists account. I still get PMs asking about my art skills and how I learned to work in so many different mediums.

This has lead me to write up a polite reply so such PMs, linking all the artists who've done work for me. I hate having to reply with a canned, pre-formatted, response, but after typing it out 5 times I hope folks will forgive me.

If it makes you feel better, I often confuse the buggery out of people when I mention the fact I am a lesbian.

Still, that's the kind of silly assumptions people make. I have a few friends that have to make sure they point out they're definatively male in RP situations, to prevent creepy stuff from happening. And they got some stories, too.

...makes me feel sort of unloved, because I don't have any good stories.

Posted

Desmodos you're not a girl?
Wait, the character's gender is not representative of the player's gender IRL???

Consider yourself lucky. I've got many stories. They're funny in the context of the internet yet a bit disturbing if you think about them too much.

Considering some of the stories I've heard, you're right.

But, my inner attention-[censored] is jealous that nobody finds me worth being creepy over.

I mean, I AM pretty awesome.

(Sidebar: I may also be narcissistic.)

I think you're definitely creep-worthy
