Well for now all I can say is...
Slor Char for damage, use Fire Cages to set up containment and then close in with hotfeet and spamming Siphon Power/Speed and Char.
I only started to enjoy my f/k at 26 or so when I had hotfeet and char well slotted.
I'd like to add one more thing. I have 2 50s that are fire/* (fire/kin and fire/bubbler) and 4 other kins. I love my kins. One thing I see all the time on fire/kins is this apparent lack of consideration regarding speed boost. So many make yet another fire/kin and get this Me Me Me attitude teaming and never think about how much help your speed boost helps your teammates.
So some tips here. I bind speed boost to my numpad for each team slot, with a 2 key bind for my imps. I also bind a broadcast in team to ask if anyone DOESN'T want speed boost (some people have problems with it) and a reminder to just type sb if I go too long forgetting to refresh sb because I'm too busy kicking butt.
Just because you feel godlike, don't let it make you selfish. If you are on a team, act like it by helping your team out. Especially the poor folks who have end heavy builds or those friendly empaths to spam more fortitude or such. Speed Boost is a benchmark of the set, so use it! And I don't just mean on your own imps. You want the other kins to give you sb, right?

This is a great guide. The best I have seen for a Fire/Kin. Very practical information. My new Fire/Kin is level 21 right now.
I wanted to make one comment in regard to the "Where to Hunt" section. I found it extremely impractical to hunt in Boomtown at level 11. There are level 11 mobs there, but they are so large that, even if you get them all disoriented, the alpha strike can really hurt. The disorient from Flashfire is too short for me to kill any of them before it expires. So then I am left using Char on the 3 lts in the group and spamming Transfusion.
Needless to say, it's run or be defeated. Running allows me to pick them off one by one...sometimes. But it can take 10 minutes to kill one group of Trolls. There are more efficient ways to get XP than that.
I had the same problem in Dark Astoria. My advice is to avoid Boomtown and Dark Astoria for one more level than the guide prescribes. Wait until level 12 and 22, respectively. I will try Croatoa and Rikti War Zone/Crey's Folly at the levels that the guide recommends because I'll have more powers at my disposal, but I won't be surprised if I have the same troubles.
Maybe I just suck... But in case anyone else sucks too, you can suck in safety if you wait just one more level before moving to the new happy hunting ground.
Oh yes, I have no means of getting influence from my high level characters to this guy. That means that means that I am struggling to get even DO's at level 21. My inferior enhancements could also contribute to my inability to cut the mustard early on in Boomtown and Dark Astoria.
But I still love this guide. It is a great resource. I have it up on my right monitor while I play CoH on the left. Thanks for puttin it up.
Could you re-visit the formatting on the powers and slots lists? Also, the Mids formatting is broke. I've been following your guide since Lvl 1, and am loving it, but would love it more if I could more easily reference the information since they reworked the boards.

Great guide, I've been looking for some slotting and future I/O advice.
I'm really enjoying my Fire/Kin right now, although some elite bosses are a real pain and End is still an issue at level 24, can't wait for transference.
Anyone have that link to Reinman's guide to 50? I think I'm doing all right so far - things are a touch slow but before 20 I expect that. Frankly I just want to get an efficient way to 32 and if I can't handle it from there, I'll go ahead and unsubscribe
What I've been up to so far is slotting to focus on my Char / Fire Cages, with Sands of Mu and a revolver to push the damage forward. I siphon power where possible and speed as well.
(I have two fifties, so this lil guy is for Farming. )
Edit: and I'll be doing the flashfire + hot feet bit pretty soon, as I get Flashfire next level.
Wow, looking around for advice on my stone tank and dusted off this guide. its been a while since I leveled up my fire kins but once you hit 20 go to Siren's call and run the mishes there. hopefully nobody will be bothering you. on a lot of servers SC is dead now anyway. the mishes there are fast and give good xp and easy to do and I think they give an xp bonus as I recall. just be careful of the widows. they can be really nasty and make you blind. carry around a few accuracy buffs. not sure if they are in SC or in Warburg, which is were I went after SC. I think I took flurry to give myself a little extra damage then respected out of it. Air superiority is also a nice attack that does knock down and decent damage. Flurry is kinda weaksauce but helpful somewhat. Sands of mu cant be slotted so it is pretty hit or miss but I used it a lot at the lower levels. Also, getting some sort of stealth power and doing radio mishes where you defeat the boss at the end or get the item at the end. you can do these fast and just stealth to the end and kill the boss and then get out and do it again. then, when you get the bank mish, just skip it, or do it if you want. I found this the fastest way to level short of pling, etc.
So what happens now when Fitness pool becomes inherent?
I would very much like to see an updated guide for that

I have 4 lvl 50 fire/kins between 2 accounts, on 2 different servers - 2 on infinity and 2 on Freedom.
I took the fire mastery pool on two of them and the psionic mastery pool on two of them. While psionic tornado doesn't do as much damage as fireball, it does fire off faster, so you can usually fire off flashfire, fire cages, fulcrum shift, psionic tornado, fire cages, psionic tornado and everyone is dead. (without stamina, you would need to throw a transference in after the first psionic tornado).
With my fire/kins I take the fighting pool and the leadership pool (punch/tough/weave) and (maneuvers) for the added defense.
Just want to toss in this build for critique before respeccing it out of it's old Fitness Pool. My Helluva Goon. The purple sets in the build has been bought way back when you could get an Armegeddon, Appocalypse or Ragnorok set under 300 million per set. Now they're like extreme cost.
Here is the build but note, Bonfire I've read somewhere on the forums that it does NOT do KB after cages have been casted onto the mob. This I must know, a need to know.

In the Fire Mastery powerset, what is the opinion of taking/not taking Consume? I'm thinking Fireball, Fire Shield, RoTP are no-brainers.

Awesome guide. I'm working on my first fire/kin and this is really helping me work out my slotting. I'll still need to respec because I picked up bonfire before readign the guide and can't stand it. Thanks for your work
