Discussion: Stratics.com Interview

Assuming that we actually DO get to keep most of our regular devs, I think this is nothing but good news for CoX. I'm even a little surprised myself that CoX is getting this kind of treatment this far into it's life. Many MMO's never get a chance to celebrate a three or four year mark. Doubling or tripling the game's staff is going to make what I think is a great game even better, and I'm really excited about the news.

Paragon Studios, thanks for all you've done. You've made this a great game, and a great community. I see this as six years well-spent. NCSoft, I'm seriously disappointed in you. This is not how you get or keep customers.

Existing and inactive players that own City of Heroes or City of Villains, but not both, will be excited to hear that NCsoft is giving everyone access to both halves of the game free of charge.

[/ QUOTE ]

What exactly does that mean? If you own CoV/CoH you dont' get free access?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think they meant you get access to the content as if you'd bought the CoH/V box that you're missing, not that the subscription is free.

I sincerely hope they still offer some incentives to people who already have bought both games, otherwise that's money down the drain.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's no difference in subscription price either way. I guess it's akin to giving away a $9.99 game code. I bought CoH, then CoH Coll Ed, CoV, then GvE...I'm not expecting a refund of any kind. As for those that bought the code/game within the last week, I doubt it will break anybody's pocket book. It's like buying a car and the next week they put out a $5000 rebate...

It's only money down the drain if you've never played the second game you bought and haven't gone above 8 server slots.

So here is my hope. The new merger makes it so they have a buck or two to drop on advertising.

One commercial during NBC's "Heroes" would do a lot for this game, player/subscriber wise.

And don't say it wouldn't. Cuz it's working for WoW.

High Huntress 50 Archery/NRG Blast
And a goatload of others. On a goatload of servers.

/Agreed. This game has changed a lot since launch. It's time to show off some of the shineys again. A little more buzz wouldn't hurt.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I mean, we've already got Hiro clones running around Virtue left and right. It's almost as bad as the catgirls.

Though Mr. Clayton couldn’t divulge any specific numbers regarding employees at that studio, he did state that the majority, from the get-go, will be from Cryptic Studios’ CoH/CoV team. The remainder of initial employees at the studio will be from NCsoft’s management. NCsoft NorCal will be focusing exclusively on the City of Heroes franchise and will be doubling, if not tripling, the size of the development team in the coming months.

And, of course, some high quality demo technology would make those advertisments easier! <hint hint>

I do believe you are referring to that famous movie called Finding Nemo and the scene was with the sea turtles. I love that movie.

Also I am happy for NCSoft team. This will be a good thing and we should see some great things from them in the next few months.

Srsly.

Also,
/agreed. with just one commercial during any given Heroes episode, you'll see a jump in sales like never before! (that didn't sound like I was trying to "sell" the idea, did it?)
