Acanous ported into the reception area, an annoyed expression souring his face.
"What the frack could be so important that you woke me up, Von Auger?"
the intercom near the base entry portal crackled to life.
"Ve haff a zituation. Eet involves portals. You vill handle eet."
A mechanical arm detached itself from the ceiling, it's prongs holding a dossier in a vice grip.
The arm snaked down untill it was level with Acanous' head, then stopped, a small compartment opening up along it's side.
Acanous pressed his face into the compartment for retinal scanning, taking note of the new gun pressed to his head during the process.
::Retinal scanning complete. 100% Accuracy. Welcome to U.L.T.R.A., Acanous::
"What was in that gun? Lazers? Acid?"
The speaker crackled with the doctor's chuckling.
"you do not need to know. Vhat you DO need to know eez right zere."
The dossier deposited itself into Acanous' waiting hands. He opened it up and started skimming.
"This just looks like normal reports from Firebase Zulu. I don't know what the fack you think is so important about partical wave rates or quantum static...."
His eyes went wide as he reached the second page.
"I've gotta get to the Shadow Shard."
Acanous leaped through the door just irising open in front of him, his cape bathed in the purple glow of the Raid Teleporter he had been tinkering with for the last year.
He quickly entered his passcode into the Raid Computer, and looked bleakly at the display.
"Only one window in the entire shard, and it has to be in the bloody storm palace..."
Acanous touched a panel, stepped onto the telepad, and vanished, as an arc of lightning ripped from the portal, demolishing at least a million dollars of equiptment, as well as a solid year's work.

My thoughts on November 30.
Raising the welding mask, an essence of pride could be felt from every pore on Experiment's body. "Finally... It only took, like, seven months of almost straight-up working, but it's done."
Stepping back, Experiment 2.0 admired his brand new creation with the eye of a child who just built a sand castle.
A very useful and beneficial sand castle, but a sand castle nonetheless.
"Granted," he continued to himself, sighing, "This IS the third time it's been 'finished.' I suppose I can't say it's really finished until I plug it in and it DOESN'T blow up..."
The lab door slid open behind him, and Experiment hung his head. "That's never good- Whenever you walk in, Kev, this thing malfunc--"
Searing heat and the force of the blow sent Experiment flying into his creation, throwing blinding colours into his vision. "Woah! What the hell was THAT?!"
Pushing a few tools off of him, 2.0 saw EXACTLY what 'that' was.
Standing at the door was a robot, equipped with armour, weapons, and apparently, very sneaky skills. "Hello, Experiment 2.0. How are you?"
"...How the hell did you get past Kevin, Shimmer?!" Experiment practically yelled, leaping forward, spikes unsheathed.
"Quite easily, I'm afraid," Dr. Shimmer replied, leaning to the side a bit to reveal the unconscious forms of Kevin and Jenny, "I thought they'd put up more of a fight against my Mk. III and IV units."
As if on cue, the Mk. IV, a giant mass of electronics and weaponry, stepped through the doorway, Vulcan Cannon arms extended toward the hero.
"...Very lovely, Shimmy, to know that you're succeeding in your ever-enduring endeavor to make my life miserable," 2.0 muttered, "But I don't have time for this."
Suddenly, the creation behind him burst into life, swirling energies morphing into a trans-dimensional portal. He turned, and yelled, "Huzzah!"
"Interesting creation, hero, but is it going to help you in this fight I wonder?"
The portal answered that question.
The giant hulking Mk. IV Shimmer had brought with his remote controlled Mk. III unit began sliding along the ground, E.M.P. pulses rushing through it, as it flew toward the portal.
Along with that, boxes and tools in 2.0's base also began flowing in- The portal was composed of an elect5romagnetic field, pulled all of the metal things in the room toward it.
"Hm? Done yet, Shim-Shim?" Experiment boasted, grinning.
"Oh, I am," Shimmer returned, jets activating as he hovered slowly to the inward entrance pipe, "But I'm not the one about to get sucked into an unknown abyss. Goodbye, Experiment 2.0."
Obviously, Experiment hadn't noticed his ARMOUR was made of metal. It seemed that, as soon as he DID realise this, he was pulled into the swirling energies, yelling expletives at the top of his lungs. A grenade, thrown by Shimmer's Mk. III, who then proceeded to escape, blew the portal apart, destroying 2.0's path back to Paragon City.
While in the limbo between worlds, Experiment could think but one thing-
"Well crap."
Energon X, aka 'the most potent powersource on two legs' stepped out of the special emplacement hooked up to the usual Shard portal and shrugged. "Sorry, guys... looks like just pumping more power in isn't going to do the trick to reopen the portal. It looks very odd, though... the portal, I mean. It's not off, exactly... more like something is... pinching it... shut?"
He peered at it, purple-glowing eyes casting eerie, dancing shadows across the quiescent portal frame. Then he sent an exploratory tendril of power towards the 'pinch' that only his accelerated senses could see, a feather-light probe that drifted across the barrier between worlds like a questing sigh.
When his vision cleared and his ears stopped ringing, he was laying sprawled at the usual transfer point into Firebase Zulu below a dead portal gate... staring up at the back of Lanaru the Mad. He made a strangled noise, activated every cloaking and stealth system he had, and ran, diving blind through the first available portal.
When his vision had cleared for the second time, he was in the far reaches of the Storm Palace. "Bloody OW." the Blaster muttered. He stared out over the ever-shifting maelstrom of the Palace, noting with mingled concern and irritation the wild energy storm over the Storm Palace proper, then blinked.
There was a comm signal- faint, distorted, but still there- being broadcast from that region. What's more, it was a familiar one. Most of his communcation channels had gone dead, but... "Oy, Bladewing." Energon X called across the aether. "Should have known you'd be somewhere in this mess. Having fun pureeing the hapless Soldiers of Rularuu, and if you are, care for some company? I seem to be stuck out here anyways..."

If there were any possible ways to find where the signal was coming from, it would be bounced to another encrypted location. If you persisted, you'd be found before we were.
"Attention is needed." A screen flickered to life with a hijacked feed from Portal Corps. The signals were being bottomed out as eyes were reading the data flow across the screen at speed that could only be matched by a computer.
"Surge it and break it once it nearly bottoms out."
"Aye." Once the meters were bottomed out, they surged. Beyond any measured levels before. It wouldn't take long to accomplish what was trying to be done.

Fire Base Zulu
Anyone who made an attempt to enter Fire Base Zulu was sent to a little location that Portal Corps had their portals set to let out at. They would be met with the normal Fire Base Zulu, except instead of soldiers, there were shadows standing in their place. And they weren't happy shadows.
Bladewing's ears perked up as a familiar voice began issuing from his communication scale.
"Energon? how the heck did you get in here, and yeah I would love some company."
"I originally came here for some brute gems and wisp jewelry....since the prices back in paragon are good, but then Lanuru had to go and wipe out the base."
"I tried getting back into his palace, figuring that when he isnt in there it might be the safest place, but its locked and someone put heavy guard on most of the keys and moved the last one."
"The only person I can think of who might have moved it is Faathim...and he has more jailers than the storm palace has elementals."
"I plan on trying to either bust him out, or get some info from him, so your welcome to join me, as it is most likely gonna be a long eternity if we dont get some info."
"Speaking of which, whats going on Earthside? from what ive seen all the portals not leading to an in-shard location are closed."

Storm Palace, Shadow Shard
Blinking his eyes to get accustomed to the red glow of the Shadow Shard, Acanous was taken by surprise as an arc of white-hot energy crashed into the portal behind him.
Turning, he saw his anchoring portal flicker, then disperse in a multi-hued implosion that would have been rather beautiful, in any other circumstance.
"Great. Now I'm stuck here."
Acanous palmed his communicator from a hidden pouch in his hood, trying to get a signal.
"Von Auger, Angus, Maya, anybody read?"
Acanous waited a few seconds before trying again, recieving nothing but static on his Supergroup channel.
"Langdon? Nova?"
he tapped the screen, hoping for a glitch, before switching to 'coalition'
"Hey, this is Acanous, can anybody read me out here?"
He put the comm up to his ear in case of a weak signal, and hope flooded through him as he heard something through the static. It wasn't loud, but it was something.
"Thank all things good and holy, I wasn't looking forward to having to walk home. Who can I thank for the save?"
Again, slightly louder, Acanous could make out a sound through the static.
H...ill..la...
"You're gonna have to speak up, I can't hear you."
Ear to the comm's speaker, he heard it again, louder, and not from the box, but behind him!
Hunt...Kill...Rularuu!
The impact of the crystal shards was far more painfull than normal, mainly because his fields weren't active, but partially out of surprise.
"Bloody- not these things again"
Acanous summoned up the energies that comprised his dark armour, literally stopping all light around him as he balled his fists.
"Now you've gone and done it, I hope you can run fast enough to give me some sport"
The Natterling, terrorized by the wash of negative energy through it's tiny mind, flew off, pursued hotly by a very angry scrapper.
"You run well, maybe after I'm done with you I'll take what's left so the Doc can clone it!"
He pursued the Natterling for almost a minute, taking his time to vent some frustration. Like a game, Acanous would let it zip away a ways, then clear the distance with a single leap, using his Touch of Fear to goad it further without killing it. After losing sight of the Natterling behind a large crystal, Acanous decided to end it.
Hurdling over the spire, he stopped cold as his prey swooped into a crowd of Rularuu and Shard Reflections.
"Well. Feck."

My thoughts on November 30.
The cloud of Rularuu turned into a grim sight just as Acanous came into it's view. They swarmed at him with inhuman speed that threatened to crush the ground under their feet.
Then, behind Acanous, three men in black tactical armor opened fire with guns that didn't seem to have a magazine or the need to reload. The Rularuu were met face-to-face with over a thousand rounds of something that didn't seem to be solid but hit like it was a tank round.
Then, if that wasn't enough, one of them threw a small baseball-sized looking device into the air in such a path so that it would hang in the air directly above the Rularuu. The device exploded with huge amounts of kinetic energy - but not in all directions - the kinetic energy pounded down into the mass of now dead Rularuu Natterlings, and a few brutes struggling to live with the force that could pulverize their diamond hard armor within a second of contact.

Portal Corp
------------------------
The portal overcharge had failed, Energon had vanished, and as the readings began to fall, the air hummed.
Sam Johnson and his team watched as their monitor showed energy level climbing beyond any previously measured levels, beyond what the machinery could contain.
"Get out!, the portal is gonna blow!"
Sam herded his co-workers out of the basement just as the portal devices began to glow with actinic lights. The ground shook, and cracks began to appear in the walls and ceilings.
As sam and his team stepped out into the portal court, the portal exploded. With the force of a small sun, but contained in the basement of portal corp. The energies released flowed through all the portals, fusing their circuts and machinery to inoperativeness.
Portal Corp was disabled, and miles away the same thing had happened in the Rouge Isles. The top of Aeon Corp had been blown skyhigh, and rubble was raining down into Aeon city.
Dr. Aeon could be heard over the city loudspeakers.

Impressed with the stunning display, Acanous hid his astonishment behind a well-crafted smirk.
"Nice job with those Rularuu, guys. Of course, I could've handled it"
He scanned thier uniforms, looking for some recognisable insignea.
"Who'se in command here, and how many survived?"

Energon X shrugged, somehow making it known even through the commlink as he flew rapidly through the weird air of the Shard. "Not much happening dirtside- they really have no idea what's happening in here." He paused. "If it comes down to it, I have no idea what's happening in here. What's going on, anyways?"
Another pause. "Actually, don't bother answering that. I picked up so much energy from that little D-jaunt that I'm about to explode... well, even more so than usual, anyways." The Blaster sounded oddly relaxed, even jaunty, when considering that there was a good chance that they were stuck in the Shard permanently... until you thought about it for a moment. Even unleashing the full potential of his phenomenal powers, there was virtually no chance of harming an innocent, here on the far outskirts of the dimensional wastelands of the Shadow Shard.
Here, he could relax his steel-hard control, and not have to worry about killing anyone other than himself. And, one supposes, rather a lot of Rularuu's minions.
"Let's go find Faathim and have a little chat with him." Energon X ordered as he approached the Scrapper, sounding almost as eager for a fight as Bladewing usually was. He let loose a scintillating blast of blue-white power over his compatriot's shoulder, punching a neat hole in a Watcher that had been sneaking up on Bladewing and making a satisfied noise as the thing shimmered out of existence. He flew forwards again, leaving a brief odd, wavering trail as the Shard itself distorted around him.

Bladewing lifted off, flying with Energon back towards the portal to the Chantry. Then the air ahead took on a strange greenish cast, twinkling and spinning.
Bladewing sniffed and raised an eyebrow.
"Hey Energon, that swirling cloud of green looks both deadly and familiar...let me try something."
Bladewing flew to the edge of the cloud, "Dax, is that you? and if so what the heck are you doing in the shard?"

The swirling cloud of green crystal moved in a sort of shrug before it assumed a humanoid shape, "Trying to get a tan yo! What's going on in here? Heard a boom and I've lost contact with the DWC. The only time that happens is when something of interdimensional power decides to sneeze."
If any of the others would look around they would notice veins of the same type of crystal Dax was made out of ran through ten of the floating islands. Dax cracked a smile as two of the veins erupted out of their stone housings toward him increasing his size and floating crystal sheild. Dax went from being six foot to ten foot in the space of a few seconds, "I may need the added power if we are going up against something like what I think we are."

Build's jaw dropped as he looked at the readings flowing along his monitors. The normal energy fluctuations within the Shard had flown off the charts. He quickly shuffled through his folders with a few quick key commands. Crap! The only person who is on standby is Kaega. . .that guy scares me more than Conlin.
Build entered a few more key strokes before activating his com unit, "Kaega, I know you don't hear a lot out of me cause youre crazy and stuff. But I got a problem in the Shard. Dax is already in there cultivating his crystal fields and he may need a little help if trouble comes. I need you to go and see what's happened."
There was a short burst of static before a gruff voice spoke, "Blasted peice of metal crap! How do you get this thing to work!?! If you can here me I'm gonna take Bang with me and go see what's happened with Dax."
Build paled a little. He had only met the Court Jester on one occasion and that meeting with Bang had been more than enough to ensure that Build never wanted to see him again, "We only have enough standby power for a oneway trip Kaega. You'll have to find your own way back."
"That's fine. Wouldn't be the first time I've had to go through that type of situation. Kaega out." The comlink went dead.
Build let out a sharp exhalation of breath, "Man I feel sorry for anything that has to go up against the combined might of Kaega, Dax, and that psycho Bang." Build thought as he went back to work on his current project.

"How long do you think?" Kaega asked the annoyingly spry jester.
"Oy! Could be a minute? Could be an hour!" Bang shouted as he flipped from one floating stone to another, randomly appearing in a flurry from one of the stones to another.
Bang saw Bladewing standing beside Dax. He pulled a quick flip and dissappeared, instantly reappeared standing upside down on one of the islands floating directly infront of the two metas. "Oy! What are two handsome blokes like yourselves doing in a place this severely lacking in beautiful damsels?"
A rip appeared in the air beside the two metas as Kaega shoved himself into the space with a pop as the air was dispersed, "Blade, don't take any notice of Bang. . .we are still trying to figure out what exactly he is."
((For information sake this is roughly what Bang looks like. His height ranges from everything between three feet and eight feet, but here his height is 6'2". He is garishly clothed in the traditional jester wear, the colors of his clothing are purple and black. He wears a silver face mask that is like liquid metal, which right now has triangular shaped eyes a smile and a star under his right eye. Wait a little while and you'll get to see how his powers work.))

Acanous felt a sense of unease creep up on him at the silence of the soldiers.
"Well, I'm gonna go find Faathim, he owes me a favour from way back. Much as I'd like to have a rematch with Lanaru, now's just not the time."
Acanous flipped a hidden switch on his back, and jets hidden in his armour blazed to life.
"You guys take care now!"
Acanous sprang upward, across the fields of floating rock towards the Chantry, the magical enchantment on his boots combined with the thrust of the rockets letting him cover over a mile in a single bound.

Bang seemed to skip in place from one foot to the other. Three identicle copies of himself appeared in a straight line to his left. They broke into a quick rendition "Singing in the Rain" mysteriously sounding like a barbershop quartet.
The original Bang looked over at Kaega, "Oy! If you wanted to know what I amm, you shoulda just askeded. Sides that makes me kinda sadd that you'd say somethen like that Kaega. I been playin nice so farr," Bang said as he quickly ran a hand infront of his face changing it from the comical smiling mask.
His mask now had a deep seated frown and a crescent moon under the left eye. "Oy! You with the sharp pointy sword of painful cutting, whats been happening round here to cause all this here trouble?" Bang asked as the three copies dissapeard. They reappeard dancing along the bottom of a few of the floating islands.

Bladewing stopped in midair and scratched his chin.
"Well, as near as both my magical senses and my mind can make out, Rularuu the Ravager, Biggest badass in the multiverse, has revived in some form or another, freed most of his incarnations/avatars if they were imprisoned, and sealed off the Shard from earth."
"To me this says that Rularuu isnt entirely back to full power yet, Sealing off the Shard means he doesnt want any outside interference." "And theres the fact that one and maybe more of his Aspects has remained seperate from him."
"Lanuru is just kinda too crazy for Rularuu to re-absorb, but I think Faathim is still there, and most of the other ones too, so maybe Rularuu is trying something new instead of re-absorbing his aspects and going straigt to full power."
Pausing for breath, Bladewing floated in sitting lotus and assumed a meditative pose.
"Because the Aspects are still roaming free, and Rularuu sealed off the Shard, I hypothesise that he has decided to let his aspects remain seperate, thus both weakening himself, and providing him with the most powerful guards in any dimension." "He sealed the Shard so he could restore his powers without re-absorbing the aspects, which must be tough to do, so first we need to visit Faathim and confirm this."
"Once we do that it should be a simple matter of doing what Faathim suggests to re-imprison or defeat Rularuu."
Bladewings eyes flashed open.
"Please keep in mind that I cannot garuntee anyones survival, If you have means of self ressurection prepare them."
Turning to Kaega, Bladewing glanced at his sword.

It took Acanous about 15 minutes of heavy leaping, avoiding observer patrols- to get near enough to the Chantry to see it's outline on a horizon.
A horizon, not The horizon, because there's really no up or down, or concentrated landmass in the Shard...
*Something's got the Rularuu realy amped up... more patrols than I'm used to, and in different areas...*
Musing on weather or not his communicator itself was broken, Acanous decided to give it one more go. Throwing caution to the winds, he flipped the channel from "Secure" to "Broadcast"
::If anybody's out there, this is the Awesoem Arcane Acanous, The Immortal. I'm heading to the Chantry, might need some help getting in. I'll wait 20 minutes for a reply before I try rushing the place on my own.::
Thinking about it while using a jet to boost his velocity, Acanous went back onto the channel, adding
::Oh, and if the Reflections have hacked this signal, I'm heading to the Chantry. Bring plenty of stufftokill, I'm having a bad day. ::

Kaega shrugged, "I know nothing about magic. That would be Jonas and Conlin. My sword is from another dimension, and even in this dimension were everything has a double, its unique. Here," Kaega pulled a brown leather bag he kept attached to his belt away.
He tossed it to Bladewing. Inside where the usual assortment of odds and ends Kaega was forced to carry on a mission. He had a few Spirit Renewal crystals, three Guardian talismans, two Soul Awakens, five Blood Breakers, and three Eyes of Zhad.
((He's got two blues, three purples, two awakens, five reds, and three yellows. Oh yeah, Kaega has no powers. His sword is what allows him to hit really hard. He's 4800 yrs old and has battled through most of them, so his reflexes are very tuned. For some reason which hasn't been revealed yet he can be hurt, but he can't die.))

Kaega nodded toward Dax. He summoned up some Dark World runes in his mind and used them to establish a mental link. "Keep an eye on E-X, Dax. If he loses control with Bang any where near him there is no telling what there combined energies would do to this place. So keep close to him if you can, if you can't send a double in cloud form after him.
Dax nodded slightly. One of the green crystal veins seemed to dissappear. In the air around them microscopic crystals seemed to create a type of barrier. A heavier consentration lay around E-X than around any of the others. The crystals would not interfere with his powers, but they would help to diffuse some incoming attacks (Possibly amplify and reroute his powers if need be).

"I ain't bi-curious, I'm a man. Why do you think I'm wearing this tight spandex and got all these muscles?" Meatwad
Dax suddenly shifted his head to the side as if he were listening to a far off voice. "Apparently some bloke named Acanous is heading to the Chantry and wants some back up. You guys wanna go help or leave him to his own devices?"
Hearing this Kaega turned toward Bladewing, "Looks like I have my next move figured out. I'm heading after this guy. It's not a good feeling to be alone behind enemy lines."
Bang's voice seemed to come from everywhere at once, "Oy!I'm up for anything. So how hard are these Rularuu noobs to drive insane?"
I do not know my reasons for posting, but post I must. ~~Build

"I ain't bi-curious, I'm a man. Why do you think I'm wearing this tight spandex and got all these muscles?" Meatwad
Staring at the Chantry from a small floating rock, Acanous began to appraise his situation.
*Huh. Propably a hundred or so Rularuu. Only have to cut a path, though, but dang I wish I could just go through the shields at any old point.*
He took a runing start at the gaseous vent that proved the only real access to the Chantry, positioning himself in midair to land directly in a group of rularuu.
"Hope I'm not interrupting anything, fellas" he started, inverting his void shields and releasing the light trapped within[Soul Drain]
"But I just got back into town-" continued the white-hot corona, beginning a flurry of powerfull blows that sent a few minions to the great herafter [Shadow Maul]
"And I was wondering"
Taking a brutal onslaught of shards, energy bolts, and psionic blasts, he staggered a bit.
"Could any of you be so gracious"
Absorbing energy from the very aether, Acanous restored his body and energies within the protective cloak of his armour [Dark Regen, Dark Consumption]
Most of the Rularuu, barraged by the onslaught of negative energy and plasma-hot light, simply disintegrated on the spot, leaving two noble brutes and a wisp overlord.
"As to direct me to Faathim the Kind?"
Acanous put the brutes down with a swift punch and more potent uppercut [Shadow Punch, Smite] before turning on the Wisp.
Shocked at the sudden death of all it's minions, the Wisp turned to it's only available recourse, creating a bubble of extradimensional space, and sealing this new threat inside it.
"Why thank you, I do believe those directions will suffice!"
Now immune to most forms of attack, Acanous began a mad dash into the Chantry, ignoring any Rularuu or reflections in his wake.
You can't spell Slaughter without laughter
All your gonna do is just farm behemoths anyways.
My thoughts on November 30.
Rules
---------------
1.) No God moding, one shotting, auto hitting et cetera.
2.) No manipulation of plot critical NPCs without a GMs consent.
3.) Please PM me before joining, entrance will be allowed throughout the entire length of the RP, entrance strategies should be discussed with me, as regular portals will be disabled at the start, and the main agencies will lost their ability to send more people to the shard soon after the first Heroes/villans take that route. If you wish to begin in the shard, then also PM me so we can discuss where you come from in the shard (aka which hole you were in/rock you were behind).
4.) All RP characters will be considered as level 50, overpowering of a character will be met by an equal overpowering of that characters opponents.
5.) This RP is open entirely, experimantal powersets, wierd explanations and origins are encouraged and welcomed.
6.) This RP will take place almost entirely in the shadow shard, there will be no rezzing in paragon or the rouge Isles. Heroes and Villans entry point will be a small island in the far reaches of the Storm Palace, this is because that is the location of my RP character, who is in this case, a being from Primal earth that Aeon/Portal Corp can lock on to to form a temporary portal.

0900 Hour Earth standard time
Fire Base Zulu, Shadow Shard
It was a normal day, or as normal of a day as any could be in the shard. The sky stayed it's usual orange-red, with gaseous swirls of yellow. The shattered islands continued their floating dance through the void that was the shard. The waterfalls continued their crimson cascades. The natives of the dimension harvested the crystal-like kora fruit, using the fruits as their one and only means of survival, all the while dodging various hostile patrols.
Bladewing flew over the the islands, making his way towards the Storm Palace, intent on gathering Brute gems and Wisp bracelets, having heard that they were selling like hotcakes back in Paragon city.
As he flew over several of the islands, Bladewing saw an interesting sight. Thousands of Rularuu's soldiers and the reflections gathered at the bases of gigantic crystalline spires, which had appeared on each of the islands.
"Hmm never seen those things before, and the rularuu seem to be agitated, ah well I'll mention it to the Portal Corp guys when i get back."
Shrugging, Bladewing flew into the vine portal, just missing the energy buildup that sparked from one spire to the other, heading straight for the Storm Palace.
Energies arced from spire to spire, osscilating from the Storm Palace to Fire Base Zulu, causing gigantic explosions of energy whenever they encountered a portal to another dimension and closed it.

Portal Corp, Shadow Shard Observation room, Primal Earth
Sam Johnson yawned, watching the graphs and readouts of activity in the Shadow Shard, and of Portal Corp's connection to the otherworldly dimension. Johnson stretched and took a sip of coffe, not even really watching the monitors, and why should he? Nothing ever happened, the portal showed regular spikes in energy whenever Heroes and military personnel went to and from the shard. There had been a few such transfers today.
Then the graphs went crazy, energy emissions from the shard intensified past the safe limits of the portal, and dimensional connection stability swiftly dwindled towards zero.
Johnson did a spittake that would have looked perfect in a saturday morning cartoon.
"No, oh please no, not on my shift, not me!" But the graphs and monitors continued thier trends, heedless of his pleading. Johnson glanced up just in time to see the portal to the Shard flicker, flash, and then collapse into a pinprick of light before fading entirely.
Watching it all, Johnson picked up the emergency line, which was only to be used in an omega level situation. Shakily he spoke to the chief of Portal Corp. "Sir it appears that the portal to the Shadow Shard was forcibly collapsed, and the only entity capable fo doing that was the being that called itself Rularuu the Ravager." "Unless I miss my guess, he has returned to full power, or something close to it and has sealed off the shadow shard to gather more strength."
The chief then spoke, in a calming voice. "Don't worry about that right now, just focus on getting us a working portal back to that dimension, hero agencies have been notified will be waiting for immediate transport to the shard when we can provide it.
Johson wiped his brow with a nearby hankerchief. "Thank you sir, my team and I will do everything we can to get you a working portal"
With that Johnson turned back to his station, calling in every shift member to try and get the portal open again, but what he never noticed were the speck sized spiderbot that crept from the wall and crawled it's way into the air vent, or the various other listening devices that rapidly dispered back to their masters from his office.

Grandville, Lord Recluse's meeting chamber
Dr. Aeon spoke, in his best haughty scientist tone. "Lord Recluse, our spiderbot intelligence probes have found some shocking information." "Apparently the Extradimensional entity known as Rularuu the Ravager has revived and cut off the dimension known as the Shadow Shard from outside interference."
"According to the predictions made by the Fortunatas, and the data gathered by our intelligence probe, Rularuu is growing in power, but is still relatively weak."
"He constitues a threat greater even than that of the Rikti invasion, and as such we should move with all haste to render him helpless again."
Lord Recluse spoke in his usual chilling tone. "Aeon, are you telling me that we should kill Rularuu? and abandon any attempts to recover a fraction of the power that Rularuu wields
Aeon glanced up form the floor. "Nothing of the sort my lord, I was merely suggesting that we have some agents cooperate with whatever forces the Heroes mobilize, and once Rularuu is defeated or helpless, we seize what we can for the glory of Arachnos!"
"Brown nose" Black scorpion muttered, glaring around with his cybernetic eye to try and gauge the reactions of the other circle members.
"Very well Aeon, find a way to get our villans into that dimension, all of our resources are now open to you." "Oh and Aeon, dont let me catch you snooping in projects not related to your new assignment."
"Of course not my lord!, also I believe we might be some "Desined Ones" in the shard already, but I cannot confirm that." Aeon bowed and ran to the eleveators, before teleporting to the portal lab to work on calibrations to the rift generation devices.

Storm Palace, Shadow Shard
Bladewing floated in the purple void watching the arcing energies of the spires interact with Lanuru's storm.
"Oooookay thats just a little bit more than unusual, I'm checking in with the guys back in FBZ."
Bladewing tapped a scale on his palm, causing the telepresence spell to activate. The view he was met with was of General Hammond's bloody features lying on the ground. Slowly, with growing trepadation, Bladewing moved the telepresence sensor around the fire base, watching helplessly as the base personnel were either slaughtered, or trapped in collapsing buildings. Then Bladewing saw the laughing visage of Lanuru the Mad, hovering inside the firebase's shields, throwing lightning at helpless scientists. Then Lanuru looked right at the sensor, and Bladewing was thrown through the void by the power feedback Lanuru caused.
As he floated towards the center of the Storm Palace, Bladewing mused to himself.
"Okay, so I'm stranded in the shard, surrounded by hostile creatures, and most if not all friendly forces have been killed or incapacitated."
"I can survive on just about anything, I have my katana, am most likely going to be hunted like a dog by Rularuu and his aspects, and I am gonna need some allies."
Smacking his fist into his palm Bladewing nodded to himself.
"So theres only one thing to do while I kill time and wait for something interesting to happen, slaughter Rularuu's minions!"
With a grin, Bladewing flew off for on of the smaller Islands in the Storm Palace, trying to piss off as many storm elementals as he could along the way.
"You, dear sir, are a legend. "- nelly. "PIE DOESN'T HAVE TENTACLES!"
