For the most part, the "stuff on test" isnt' going to be all that different from the stuff on live. It's far different now, obviously, as they're getting ready for an issue release

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah Tundara, but it's this instance that I'm talking about. The one where it -is- radically different.

It's why I thought there should be some time warp type header attached to any article about the test server. It's not just like any of the other servers.

If an article is about the positron task force and is done on the test server vs Champion, I'd think it a little silly, but hey, at least we can all relate to what those heroes were doing. Same with PvP.

Don't know why you'd talk about doing any of that on the test server when there's perfectly good stuff to write about on live, but I do understand that PvP is something that sometimes necessitates cross server battles because of it's competitive vs cooperative nature and the test server is the only alternative.

Just label it a multidimensional battle or something. "Secret Wars" if you can get away with it.

My fear is that all the latest and greatest stuff will always be on test. Well, maybe not the "greatest", but the "latest" for sure. ...

If test is reported on, and I agree that many cool and relevant things may happen on test, maybe it needs to be part of a 'time warp dimensional' column each week. 'Dimensional warder forecasts', etc. But please don't make it front page news when there are plenty of interesting things happening on live servers that everybody can relate to.

[/ QUOTE ]
We could say that nothing else important was happening, except on Test, but that wouldn't be true at all. We know there's always something happening everywhere, in every community.

The truth is that we are barely two dozen people, all volunteers, trying to rush around to cover the events of a hundred thousand. We sometimes have to give preference to certain events because that's all the news we were able to collect that week, like a lepidopterist trying to catch a field full of butterflies using only a pair of tweezers.

We think our news coverage will get better when we print a set of submission guidelines in our next issue. That will allow any player to submit an article to us that covers any newsworthy event on any server, including Test.

Our next issue will cover the upcoming changes to the Katie Hannon Task Force. We haven't decided yet if it is our lead story. Let us know if we handled that any better.

i have to disagree.. not everyone lives on the test server thus, if you look at what the majority do.. they LOG INTO a LIVE server and have fun... alot do not pay attention to the test server (and some prefer to be surprised) so sir.. i have to say that if u intend to print a paper or column that is nice yet voluntary... keep it relevant to the majority of players please...

otherwise have a section of the paper and call it test server something of other...

Something everyone needs to keep in mind when we're talking about this. The piece was initiated by the people who organized it. It wasn't our decision to cover it, it was our decision to include it because the people who did it were proud of their accomplishment, and did a nice job on the article.

We've just come off a Hellish week of accusations that we're being too cliqueish and exclusive, and here we have other people advocating that we need to be moreso just because it's the Test Server.

I want good ideas that are well written in the Scoop. Mofeta and Sylph_Knight delivered. We ran it. We made the mistake in not making it clear it was Test only, but I'm not about to discourage someone with the stones to write a good piece from running it just for that.

Quite a bit, really. If you'd like to see who takes responsibility for what, check the credits to the left hand of last week's issue.

Hertz recently stood up regarding the miscommunication on censorship that took place in another thread. I applaud him for that.

If you see something in the Scoop that isn't accredited in the Staff list section, feel free to ask. Beyond that, you may consider Hertz and myself responsible for the overall City Scoop, as we are the Editors in Chief.

It was a great story. I don't care if it was on test or not, it was a big event.
To the naysayers: If you want a different story, get out there and accomplish something big worth writing about.

I would like to take this opportunity to THANK the folks putting out the Scoop. I find it amusing and appreciate the effort. It hasn't been in existence very long, and they are still developing the paper, so give them some time people.

My opinion on the editorials: if it was full of editorial screeds, like the forums generally are, I wouldn't read it.

Excentric should know! Do you have any idea how hard it was to find a member of the PvP community that could do Dumok or ExcentricÂ’s high level of quality?

Did you mean to link her to the July 6th?

All Scoops are located in the Announcement section, they are stickied up by date.

Well, I had meant it. She posted in the thread for the 6th, so I guessed she wanted a back issue.
