Also i think it would be a cool idea of being able to walk through walls or become transparent...so then you couldnt be hurt. Who knows...its a thought.

Any idea if the developers will let us vote as to what the winning power sets might look like? Dual blades, a shield, as well as several of the other possible powers seem pretty vague. Im sure most of us would love to know how they might function too.

I see that I am not the only one extolling the benefits of spreading the old sets around to other ATs.
Perhaps with just minimal tweaking to better suit the AT (I still think Tankers need more AoEs and Scrappers need more high damage or fast recharge single target attacks)

Now, let me start of apologizing for 2 things. First, i haven't read thru all these posts so i dont know if someones already suggested this or not. Seccondly im a Newb (relitivly) and dont know if what im suggesting is even possable. Now on to the Meat of the Message..
I PERSONALY was slightly dissapointed and would LOVE to se a Shapeshift Power Pool and a Power Mimicry Power Pool.
Now the former I'm thinking is far more doable but i think the later suggestion is, by an imense distance, FAR mor an intreaging idea... Can you imagine the ability to "Mimic" an AV's ( OR BETTER YET !!) a teammates Powers for a duration of say...5 min / till replaced?
As for the formar idea, the ability to take on a seers form and "Stalker-esk" (if not put in that set) past them and others? Would make any other set much more solo-able and stop alot of noise about that subject i would think.or taking a Mob's form and confusing baddys momentarly (disorient?).
any the possabilitys in these ideas are endles and would be hashed out by the Dev's for game balance and everything.
Just my 2 cents...add it to the collection to buy new Power Pools

Hi everyone, just 2 suggestions for other power sets that could be considered. How about a whip or something similar (eg like a gymnastics ribbon) for a primary power? Another idea I was thinking of was a bo-staff or some other polearm. Of course, I'm assuming that if the developers want to do something like that, they'll make it a point to include some new animations so it doesn't just look like an existing power, except with a different object in the character's hand. What do you guys think?
i think that they should also add to the list for melee fighting a bo staph power set and sai's power set. and for defense a counter attack power set that leaves the attacker stunned for a second.
Hmmm... while these do sound intriguing there are a few problems in what you're suggesting.
I'll start with Shapeshifting. There would be very few powers available and useful. Sure you could make the baddies think you're with them but what else could you do. We also already have "Shapeshifters" in the game in the form of Peacebringer and Warshade.
As for Mimicry, while it sounds interesting to see I personally would never use it. It sounds like a set that would be to hard to implement and could potentially cause lag issues while new powers were being set up for your use. And again the lack of possible powers. If anyone remembers playing Mortal Kombat 3 on the playstation you might remember a character who could shapeshift and mimic other's powers. It would be something along those lines where when you shapeshifted into anyone other then the person you were fighting there was a few seconds where you couldn't do anything while the game loaded the new powers. At which point you were getting your [censored] handed to you. Otherwise they look like very good ideas.
Getting new powers would be great. I love all the power choices and costume choices we have in COH/COV. Creating new toons is a blast! That said, it's not always fun playing them after they are created because there simply aren't that many missions. Most of my toons end up doing the same missions, even if they are different archetypes with different origins. While I'd love to see more powers, I think it's even more important to add more missions.
I think they should put more costume peices out there. like for females...they should make dresses of some sort. Also to have a cape at your waist without having the jacket...as if you had a dress/cape..like the character Numina in the comics.
So I dont understand, how will willpower differ from Invulnerablilty. And if Im a broad sword/def shield scrapper....how wil that work?
I live both ideas of the whip and the staff. I was talkin on CoH with one of my friend about havin a whip and how cool it would be. The whip should have a fear power(maybe) in it and also a few knockdowns and aoes/cones and the staff should also have knockdowns, aoes/cones and it should have stun in its powers. One problem i think with the whip is that what should be the range of it, when you think of a whip you think of this long menacing leather object. Also it would be cool to add a elemental whip into some powersets like a flame whip, electric whip, or stone whip (dont know how an Ice whip would work but still sounds cool) or just make an elemental whip a whole different powerset.
Someone earlier brought up an interesting point about "implied sets", ex: psi assault implies a psi melee. Also, many of the unique powers in MM sets imply a lot (exe: pistols and the energy rifle)
Personally, I thought of a solution for some of these problems. It's a bit of a stretch, and would take a lot of work to flesh out, balance and so forth, but I think the solution for the existence of assault powers, pistols, and some of the more fusion/crossover set ideas (ex: willpower[psi], vibration[sonics], FF [ff], and density [Kin]).

I've argued with my old SG mates long and hard about this, fleshed out some examples for sets, thre them out, fleshed em out again, gave up, picked it up again, and i keep coming back to it. We really need more epics; villains need at least a nictus (to be fair), and heroes and villaisn need some new reimagining of what a hero can do that isn't an alien, tanker, scrapper, defender, or what-have-you. They need a home for the implied powers and how unique crossover concepts might work better than just new sets on existing archtypes.

New Hero Epic Archtype:
Commander) they are an assault/defence archtype. They are tactically versitile but lacking in strong advantages in any one set of skills.
this set would solve the problem of the implied assault sets (just make new/different ones as well, one that uses fighting/pistols/and a couple grenades, use a robotic assault that incorporates some SS with some robot (MM) beams, missiles, etc. whips and a few others concepts might fit well into a "medium range" attack set.
Their defence would be team and personal. For instance, they could use empathic abilities as well as regenerative abilities (with niether being comprehensive or overpowerful). Or they might have a denisty set which enables them to do some kin buffs and self Density buff. A sonics set would be able to use dispution buble and some debuffs. THe idea is versatility and balance. Each set would have a unique, customizable pet option... a sort of sidekick that you can dress up and level, they can get their own exp, and need their own enhancing and get their sets from which sets you choose. The archtypes speciality? leadership. they'd be a benefit to any team, but not strong enough to take the place of a defender or a frontline offensive toon, though with some tweaking they can try those tasks.
Villains:
The Jack.
The Jack is the ultimate personification of their element/concept/damamge type/theme. For instance: the jack would have access to most of the powers in any one theme. A fire Jack would have fire armors, fire holds, swords, imps, the whole 9-yards, but no pools save travel. THis could work with any theme. Psi, rad, ice, nrg, dark, stone, gadgets/tech, you name it. it would be limited only by the devs as far as whicjh thmes would work best. They also can learn some skills in a different fashion (temp powers) but in a way emulated buy their theme, and would need to "capture" them by doing certain tasks to "learn" the temporary power. The Jack is, as the name implies, a jack of all trades but a master on none. So no end tier skills without some nerfing, like maybe 2 imps, or maybe a self rez, but not with full HP, or without the attack debuffs going along with it.

please consider it. I had decided to keep it to myself, but after reading Jack Emert's recent interview about his idea on epics (Battle armors and the like), I knew that i wasn't the only one who had some conceptual ideas that seemed like too much. Maybe these ideas, when tweaked, could solve more than a few problems, and even might enable some of Jacks dreams to come true too.

Yeah, that's great, useful to HEROES.
I voted for Shield Fighting and Shield Defense, because they are powers I wished CoH had since launch-day. So many possibilities (mixing shield with swords, axe, mace, stone melee) as well as using the shield for bashing people over the head with! The shield could also have custom graphics, by making the insignia on your shield automatically match your character's chest insignia. Power options for shields would be great, like being able to reflect ranged attacks back at your opponents, and throwing the shield like a boomerang.
I voted for Growth, because who wouldn't want Growth? I voted for Ball & Chain too, however I think Whips would be much cooler. With Whip, you could have characters like Catwoman, Indiana Jones, etc. Would look so cool and be very different from the current scrapper powers.
So for new power sets not currently on the list, I vote for:
- Whip
- Pistols (for Blaster Heroes - Max Payne/John Woo style dual pistols!)
- Psionic Feedback (Defense powerset for scrappers - causes damage to opponents whenever the scrapper gets hit. Gains stamina for damage received. Also great defense against psi attacks.)
- Duplication (Defense powerset for Scrappers and Controllers: make multiple copies of yourself!)

i also voted shield/shield monstly because i would like to see how bad it would animate mixing shield with swords, axe, mace, stone melee etc etc . anything using an offhand attack , even sands of mu would be all messed up looking

For looks and theme.... scaper - spear fighting (like movie 300)
and / or
nunchuck weapon (wide 180' but short cones of 3' and many 360 moves!!! )
Tank - Bo Staff (wide 180' but short cones of 5' and many 360 moves!!!)

I do like the options we are being given. I voted for psionic weaponry/duel blades and growth/density control myself. and the idea of radiation melee would be sweet. but i saw one post that reminded me of my love of elemetal powers.
metal! a liquid metal power set would be cool, a little hard to animate possibly, but the idea of making different metal weapons or covering yourself in metal spikes or a liquid metal armor or trapping foes in a coccoon of metal would be fun to me.

I agree! where is RAD? I think tanks and brutes shouldn't neccessarily have the same power sets, so forget giving tanks DA---why not something different? RAD ARMOR? it might be like a regen power and debuff field. RAD MELEE might be pretty kewl too, this could be the tank response to Elec/Elec Brutes!--just an idea.
I don't know if someone already suggested it, but I think that a good Melee Attack Power Set to add could be "Quarterstaff" or "Spear" (strong damage, low recharge, 3 or more Cone/PBAoE type attacks), at least Valkyrie can finally use her lance

if the makers of COH made an archtype of a mermaid!! like you could have a custom tail and since everything isnt water..you could just fly and your tail would flap and stuff. then your powers would be water control...what do yall think of the idea??
