City of Heroes, Before and After

(First I would like to say that I'm not very good at art. My sister got that gene. So please be nice.
Also, I'm being dramatic in this post, I know it's just a game)

Long Story

City of Heroes is an evolving game, and since the game evolves, so should the world.
However, I have been sitting in Atlas Park reminiscing about old times. How our world has changed.
Some times we don't even notice it, or remember what used to be there.

Then I found this book my family bought a while ago (not a pitch )

Colorado 1870-2000 II

It's a book of pictures taken in 1870, and again in the year 2000.

It's kind of fun to point out what is gone, and what remains.

The Point

I started messing around with demorecords. I've taken a picture of something new to the game, and then used that same location to take another picture on the live servers.

My 1st try didn't turn out so well:

Founder's Falls Train After 1

Founder's Falls Train Before 1

Yeah... I guess they knocked down some buildings for this train, because I'm now inside one.

For the last two. I picked better locations:

Founder's Falls Train Before 2
Founder's Falls After 2

Founder's Falls Before 3
Founder's Falls After 3

Anyway, I might do some more, just for fun. I tried doing the new vault in Talso (used to be a steak place), but the demo record crashes on the live server (fixed in I9, yay)

So if you wanted to add something, or just ask me why I did this instead of playing (did this for about 4 hours)

Then go ahead

That's pretty cool, I'd love to see some more.

I hope to do some more.

Unfortunately, Other then the vaults, which all have wetworths in the same zone (reason for the crash),

I'm not sure what else is graphically different between I8 and I9.

But I think I'll fly around to see if I can find something.

Nifty little project!

That's really cool. I opened the 2 pics in different tabs and kept switching between them to see all the different little things. Very cool, thanks for sharing!

Heh... nice find! Sometimes I wonder what else has been changed throughout the years, and it takes a post like this to go 'Ohhhh yeaaaaah' *headslap*

I believe they are adding an additional train station in Skyway as well, if you wanted to do that zone.

Yes very cool. I too was looking at both and recalling where these places were in game. I havent yet been on Test server to see where some of the new stuff is gonna be. Very cool.

Oh, quite a few changes.

I spy Calvin Scott!

Remember when the arena building project advanced and we got big concrete slabs but the NPC workers were still inside?

Perez Lake freezing over

University construction started with Issue 4 which came out on May 4, 2005. We're getting real close to two years on that one!

Ohhhhh my god. I never saw that, that's hilarious!!

Other changes that I've seen but not taken the time to sort through my screenies (I have some 12 thousand screenshots so that's a little intimidating to go back and check whether I have one in the same direction/area as the others)...

Faultline in particular is one that I'd like to see a concerted effort of screenies before and after. I loved the old faultline, but the new one is just as good for different reasons.

We should start getting up on Boomtown, because I strongly suspect that with the construction in the north corner of Steel Canyon there will be some changes and updates there.

Skyway's tram is in the southern section, right where those 'step pyramid' stairs are. nothing much changes but that area does look different now. And THANK GOODNESS it's a green line That'll take you right from the bottom of Skyway to Icon in no time flat!

I have a few pieces taken from Oranbega that have shown the added complexity to the graphics over time, some of those 'eye windows' and designs on floor and wall have grown more colorful and complicated over time. They were gorgeous to begin with but there was a bit where I noticed, hey! That's glowing!

Zloth, I think i've read your history summary like 7 times. For some reason it's alot of fun to read about once ever 3 months or so.

one change I know about is the building in TI that was where WW is now, I don't have any screenhots though

Yeah the Wentworths buildings really ... reallllly changed the landscape. I don't like how they took out the huge office building in Atlas, only to leave that one single mission door nub standing there.... and instead didn't take out that ratty old warehouse/apartment complex which is still there nearby.

Thanks Awesome! Actually, there's an error on there that's pretty glaring right now. It lists the wrong date for opening day! I'll fix it when I update for I9.
