The bad side of DA

Honestly, I have a hard time telling if any of that is his. Usually with an artist, they leave their fingerprint or signature on their art, so to speak. You can look at something and know that it is that artist's style. His stuff is all over. I'd be pretty damn surprised if any of it is original.

I honestly don't believe any of it is. Notice there are several where he uses graphs? They use that to teach children how to draw. It's the easiest way to learn how to copy things. Start with a graph, and do each as a little individual "picture."

His comment to TurboSki has me steamed. I very nearly gave him what people in my circle call a Snaiting, but figured Juggy was already doing a good enough job, so I did my best to try and give him benefit of the doubt via language barrier.

The chat log, however, blew that away. He is a talentless hack who is stealing from others and profiting from it. I *know* I've seen that "Phoenix" pic of his somewhere, and it's not his.

The words I have to use for him would be censored by this board.

Juggy, thank you for keeping your cool throughout the ordeal, keeping a level head, and not stooping to his level of throwing insults.

Someone mentioned it before, and I feel they are correct. He knew he was stealing, and when called on it, denied it until he realized he was in really deep crappola. When he decided to insult and libel others, he opened himself up for a slew of artists willing to tear him down.

His own fault. Thieves will get caught.

Yup, I agre on all points.

I swear I've seen his jedi pic before... and maybe even that John Locke.

That being said, I've spent far too long on this character and am done with it.

I got most of what I wanted.. and am waiting for a pending petition for the rest.

Hmm...I just noticed this thread right before going off to work...and looked at the pieces. Umm...*technically*, copying an image (even if he's mimicking the style down to a fault), as long as he physically DREW it, that *technically* gives him copyright on that specific rendition of it (I actually sat through a 2-hour discussion about fanart copyright laws - alot more boring than I had originally expected). Anyways, *IF* he drew it himself, then we can't do much about it...however, IF he just saved the image on his hard drive then uploaded it onto dA...then *that* is a problem.

There are a few minor points that kinda sets it apart...although for the most part, he pretty much tried to emulate the image piece by piece. It's like a photorealistic artist copying from photos. They don't always list references, either. They SHOULD, as an act of courtesy to the photographer (or in this case, original artist), but I don't think there's any binding law that makes it mandatory (correct me if I'm wrong, though). There are also alot of other instances like collage artists who cutout photos from newspapers and put it together (I, personally see them as pathetic no-skill artists but there are some people who are famous for it) who rarely ever cite sources, either.

Note: Just because I wrote that doesn't mean I agree with it. As an artist that draws completely from the imagination, I truly detest these people (exception of the photorealism artists, since there's exceptional skill in that)...but I'm just trying to be as unbiased as possible.

But, I agree...he's quite immature.

I want to re-emphasise my initial point...

I didn't have a major problem with him copyingthe image... it was the fact that after i asked him to show the source he responded with... well, it's pretty obvious how he responded.

Swiping poses is not the problem. But when asked, don't fight/accuse/berate anyone who asks you to - just say "woops' and post the link.

Plus there's law, courtesy, and the deviantArt rules, which specify that you must cite your references and give due credit. They also specify that if you do that kind of FanArt, that while copying is okay, you have to change it enough to make it your own. That's why I took down many of my own copies that, while still technically my own work (and subpar when compared to the original), they weren't enough of my own style. There's a very fine line between copying and tracing. I'd be interested to see an overlay of the two pieces, just to see exactly how much they match up.

Native Spanish speaker here.

Let me tell you, right away, that his Spanish is very nearly as bad as his English.

Translating, with profanities bleeped or euphemised...

"Son of a lady of negotiable hospitality."
"I haven't said that you are an effeminate male." (If he means 'No, I said that you...', then he's missing a comma.)
"You speak Spanish."
"Poor person."
"You're a pathetic individual."
"Get a life."
"Wait."
"I hope you'll be happy destroying people."
"You did it, and someone's going to charge you for it."
"Son of the great lady of negotiable hospitality who gave you birth."
"Person who misplaces bowel movements."
"Effeminate male."

While it's nice that you pointed out his plagiarism, I really don't think he's worth anyone's time. In either of his languages.

I still fail to note the insult here. Is it really something that can be chalked up to a difference in culture, or am I just missing the point?

probably not worth the time to figure out - but I just figure he's throwing two separate insults combined - as if he were calling Jugger a "Loser" as well as a "excrement" - like calling someone a "stupid jerk" - you could call them "stupid" or you could call them a "jerk" - or you could combine them into one, double insult: "Stupid jerk". But like I said, probably not worth the time wasted dissecting his insults.

The guy's copied someone else's work and sold it, denied it and insulted those who caught him,
