H'taed stood before Lanaruu the mad, int the center of the Cathedral of Storms.

"Lord H'taed. His mind is too instable to allow you to communicate with him. Just speak to me, and I will relay it to him." Said a wisp.

H'taed nodded, and said...

"By the authority of Lord Diov, I order you to open a gateway to....."

He went on for a while.

Amazingly, after he had finished, Lanaruu nodded slightly. He turned, and floated over to the far side of the chamber. He raised his hands...

A small orb of light appeared. It grew slowly.

"The gateway should be open a fully stablized in a few hours." Said the wisp.

H'taed nodded.

"Another thing. We should be expecting guests. Soon. Many of them have means of inspontanius transportation. So erect an anti-teleportation field around the cathedral. And post a few extra gaurds along the ring leading into this chamber. That won't stop any of them, but it will slow them down. In addition...I suggest we set up a little welcome mat for them..."

-----

The cathedral was abuzz in activity. Observers and Wisps swarmed about the ring shaped equater leading into the cathedral. A slight pulsing field of purple energy could be seen materializing around the cathedral.

-----

Back inside, the wisp turned from ordering the others around, and asked H'taed a question.

"Why exactly are the chasing you anyway...?"

H'taed thought quickly. If they knew the real reason, they would turn on him in an instant to claim the device for themselves.

"Oh you know. I made a very big boom in a very public place."

Which ironically, was actually true. H'taed wondered if Alex and Garret had survived that blast.

Watching from a vantage point a couple islands away from the Palace, Nether watched as the whole structure was encompassed by a strange purple aura.

"That's strange, it's usually just surrounded by the psychic storm. This must be that brute's doing. And it seems he warned them about company."

Having formulated a simple enough plan, get all of the soldiers to one side of the Palace then summon a shadow gate to the entrance, she decided to get moving. Not knowing how much time she had was eating at her nerves, but she quickly silenced them.

I have to stay focused, any mistakes and I could be stuck here

Once again cloaked, she manages to make her way to the outter platform of the Palace. Knowing her timing had to be perfect, and maintaining a constant link to the Netherrealm, she drops her cloak and begins running as fast as she can away from the Palace doors. Getting the soldiers to follow her away from the doors and keep moving was only half the plan and it was working quite well. Finding a small cubby on the other side, she begins openning a shadow door to the doors... but nothing happens.

"What the..?!? This can't be happening, not now."

Rularuu soldiers were closing in fast. She tried a second time. Nothing. Forcing as much willpower she could into the spell, she managed to open a gate about the size of a sewer pipe. Jumping through, she closed the gate behind her, just in time to see a Brute reach through for her, and have his arm removed.

She quickly summoned a shadow cloak as well as a small field of shadow crystals to shield her thoughts from Lanaruu's psychic reverberations. Knowing the commotion might have come to the attention of either Lanaruu or H'taed, she slipped inside the Palace. Hopefully unnoticed.

((A: I just noticed Diov said the Cathedral of Storms. My brain automatically thought Storm Palace, so that's what I've been going off of, considering that's where Lanaruu is in game; B: Yes, Nether is still after the package and its contents, but her fight with H'taed has become rather personal after two near death experiences with his red glowing presents.))

Is it really Storm Palace? I could have sworn it was the Cathedral of Storms...Or am I thinking of Pain?

Silly me. I AM. It is the Storm Palace.

BIC

As Nether entered the Storm Palace...

There was nothing there. Lanaruu was definatly not floating in the center, Wisps and Observers were NOT floating about him, and H'taed was nowhere to be seen. The entire place seemed deserted.

Then something caught Nether's eye.

The device was laying on the floor right in the center.

-----

The hidden wisp turned and asked H'taed...

"Are you sure that bait will work? And what exactly is it anyway? What is a 'mud bomb?'"

H'taed continued to stare at Nether from his hiding spot.

"That bait is anything any hero would want. Its mysterious and shiny. Just tell Lanaruu to keep projecting the Illusion. The second she picks it up, she will regret it. Prepare to attack on my command."

OOC

I know you have Obsidian Shield up, but technically Lanaruu was casting the Illusion before you turned it on...So it should still work. Of course, I could be wrong...

((It protects from psionic, stun, hold, disorient, fear and the like, but an illusion is something that is outside of her sensory perseption aka it actually looks like there's nothing but the device, it's not being projected into her mind. At least that's how I think of illusions. And apparently her Cloak of Darkness didn't work XD))

She entered the Palace without a sound, and continued down the corridor to the central Room. Expecting to possibly catch H'taed unawares, she was suprised to find the room empty. The only thing in the room was the device, hovering about waist height. Staying alert for any signs of an ambush, Nether slowly approached the device.

Nether, circled it a number of times, looking for any signs of a trap.

"This is too simple, there's no way this isn't a trap, unless that brute is as stupid as he is strong."

Seeing no abnormalities, she started to reach for the device. As she is about to touch it an intense thought rippled through her conciousness.

DON'T!

She froze. Obviously something was amiss for Loc'ataro to put forth such a strong warning. She backed away slightly, and finally notices something; the device was shinier than it should be. The image infront of her of the device was worn looking, like it had seen countless uses. The problem was, it was shiny like it should be brand new.

"Ah... now what?"

She backed up about 20 feet from the device. Picking up a small piece of what looks like rock, she threw it at the device. Strangely enough she hit it, and it stuck.

"Uh oh..."

She shielded her face and dove backwards, just in time as the device detonates in a shower of red lightning and sparks.

((Nether Mistress has an extremely strong willpower. When she first was starting to learn how to control the energies of the Netherrealm she was possessed by a shadow demon of the plane, Loc'ataro. Under sheer strength of will she has kept him locked away in her mind, using his strength to boost her own. He may despise it, but he has to help her, because if she dies, he ceases to exist.

And Thunderbug never actually described the device or the package, so I'm taking creative liberties on this one.))

Aoleleb looked around, slightly disoriented, at where he was. The one problem with being a trans-dimensional peacekeeper was that he always had to go to new places he knew absolutely nothing about. The large statue in front of him was holding up what looked like a planet.

"Excuse me," He asked one of the passing civilians, "Where exactly am I?"

"You must be new," said the citizen, looking like he'd done this a million times before, "You are currently in At...You know what? I'm sick of doing this! Here, take this map."

Aoleleb thanked the man and walked on. He memorized the map instantly. Always moving from dimension to dimension, Aoleleb had a photographic memory to help him learn what he needed to blend in.

"Aoleleb," said a female voice in his mind, "Can you hear me?"

"I can hear you just fine Krystell, what is it?"

"We've got a lock on the location of the package. Do you remember that palce we told you about? The Shadow Shard?

You're kidding right? I JUST step out of my portal and you're already sending me to another dimension?

"Sorry, it can't be helped. We have some info you might want too. We've got a list of people who are also after the package.

Just send it to my Pocket, I'll grab it later."

"Will do!"

Letting out a sigh, Aoleleb opened a new portal to the Shadow Shard and stepped through.

((Yay! My first shot at RP and I think I did pretty good. Quick description. Aoleleb is 6'3", has gray hair and blue eyes, and is commonly dressed in a black robe. He has control over the elements to some degree and can also open dimensional portals kinda like H'taed's lightning bolts. His "Pocket" is a personal pocket dimension where he can store stuff that is not needed at that moment. Krystell is one of his "Contacts" who help him by giving him information. In dialogue, Aoleleb will always be red and Krystell orange, just to eliminate some typing for me. There, that's cleared up and a new character is introduced. Proceed.))

Suddenly, Nether heard laughter.

"Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"

H'taed faded into view. Lanaruu floated behind him.

Of course, they were hardly the most noticable people in the room. Along the columns, a ring of Rularuu had gathered, forming a ringed wall of them.

H'taed had organized a dueling ring of sorts.

"Lanaruu. Back away. Leave this to me." H'taed said. Lanaruu drifted towards the ceiling.

"Now then hero. I congradulate you on avoiding my little trap. As a prize, you now get the privilage of DYING in front of all these Rularuu. I will be your executioner. They will not interfere, as long as you make no attempt to leave this little ring of mine."

H'taed conjured two blades made of electrical energy.

"Now. Let us fight."

H'taed charged forward, swinging his blades in a complicated pattern.

((Fair enough on the CoD/Perp))

Being on opposite sides of the room, which was exceptionally large, she had enough time to crack her knuckles and let out a witty remark.

"This is more like it, no more running. I'll take pleasure in watching you cower and beg for mercy."

She charged in, surrounded in shadows, eyes glowing a pale blue. Starting on the defensive, using condensed shadow energy as a shield, she blocked most all of the swings. A few got through but were nothing more than small scratches. Seeing a opening, she took it, throwing a strong left hook towards H'taed's shoulder.

((Can the portal that Lanaruu is summoning be seen currently?))

Yes, but it is still fairly small...about the size of an Eight Ball. >.> You could use it if you were small enough but until it is fully grown, it is unstable and will most likely rip you apart if you try to use it. I'ts currently behind the wall of Rularuu behind H'taed.

BIC

Nether's shadow charged fist hit H'taed on the shoulder directly. Unfortunatly, it spun H'taed around, bringing one of his blades forward in a frighteningly fast thrust. While he spun, H'taed also despelled the blade in his free hand, and shot a splash zap out from it.

*INFO: A splash Zap is a mini-wave of electrical force that spreads out in front of the user in a cone. Kinda like a shotgun blast. Treat this like a one-handed Jacobs Ladder attack.*

Intending to knock H'taed back, when he spun around with the punch, and lauched his own counter attack, she was slightly suprised. Keeping her wits about her, she started to do a backflip away from his punch, but the electricity with it connected. Flying backwards toward the Rularuu, she skidded to a halt about two feet from them.

She stood up, doing that motion most tv/movie fighters do when they stand up after flying back about 30 feet. ((Closed fist, rub the nose with the thumb, like you're wiping away something. You know what I'm talking about ))

"Pretty good. It looks like we've both got some tricks."

With that she was obscured by shadows. A dark ring encompassing herself and about 6 of the Rularuu began to form. Moving inward, each Rularuu the ring touched became obscured by shadows themselves. As they cleared, each Rularuu became withered, dry husks. When the ring came to Nether, her own shadows flared then disapated.

When it was fully cleared, Nether's appearance had drastically changed ((see attached images)). Eyes blazing red, she charged in once again, ready to pummel the very essence from H'taed.

H'taed laughed as Nether charged him. Her transformation did not appear to have phased him.

He pulled back both his arms, then brought them together. A huge flash of light completely blinded Nether for a moment. When the flash cleared, H'taed was gone.

Then, suddenly, there was a blur.

H'taed was rushing all around the ring, blazing from one point to another at lightning speed. He stopped three times in his huge rush. At each stop, he would weave a symbol in the air, and a Voltaic Sentinel would appear. He finally rushed back to his original position.

"Come and get me hero. If you dare."

The voltaic sentinels started to fire bolts at Nether, while slowly moving towards her.

Unseen to everybody but H'taed, there were very slight fields of static at certain points all over the ring. He had used the summoning of the sentinels and the rushing around in a blur as a distraction. In reality, he had been thrusting his hand into the ground while running, and had been planting mud bombs in the floor. Only now they were land mines.

*INFO: Voltaic Sentinels are static pets of sorts. They lack actual physical structure so they can't be hurt. (as in they can't be targetted are attacked.) Voltaic Sentinels minor bolts of static at people. These bolts are not particuarly damaging, but they are annoying. The real danger is when you get too close to them. Then they sap your endurance and constantly electrocute you as long as you remain in melee range of them This is an actual power in-game.

Mud Bomb Land Mines! These are exactly the same as H'taed's signature mud bombs, only these are spread over the ground as an invisible static field. Anything that ventures into this field polarizes it, causing it to explode in a burst of violent energy. H'taed controls them through remote using his manipulation of electricity. So an ally can pass over these unharmed.

H'taed controls them by remote using his manipulation over electricity...So you could walk over them right now and they wouldn't blow if H'taed didn't activate them. H'taed's sentinels are pretty much imune to them. However, assume that anything that H'taed percieves to be hostile will trigger them.

I'll edit that last descrip...

((/wrists You're making this quite difficult, but very enjoyable. My creative gears haven't worked this hard in a long while, although they're still a bit rusty.))

When H'taed had started moving, Nether stopped. She had seen Sentinals before, and knew she had to keep her distance. In the back of her mind was a thought as to why he had moved so much for so little work. She had to move fast thought, as she could only maintain her heightened staight for so long, and it increased neither her defense nor her ablility to take more damage than normal.

She wasn't too worried about the Sentinals, as her murky shroud of darkness protected her from most everything but the worst of energy attacks. Trying to formulate some sort of plan, she finally landed on one, but it would have to wait till the portal was fully stabilized. It was currently the size of a salad plate.

Finding an open route to H'taed that wasn't near any of the Sentinals, Nether took it. Getting in a few punches before she had to move again was the first part of her plan. Holding out as long as possible was the another. Seeing the dents left in his armour from her very first barrage, she aimed for them again, hoping to break through.

((I shouldn't have said anything about the land mines, i had a great idea to throw a natterling at you after the first one went off, but all is for naught as they are controlable by yourself.))

All I'm trying to do is have fun. I'm not in this to win, just to give people a good show. Sadly this plan doesn't always work.

If Nether could have seen H'taed's face under his hood, it would have been nearly split open with a wide, evil grin. In his head, as Nether got closer, there was a little diddy going through his head.

'Old Mcdonald had a farm...Eeeyi Eeeyi-Oh...'

Nether was halfway to him now.

'And on his farm he had a BOMB, bada-bing, bada-bang, bada-BOOM!'

-----

As Nether rushed towards H'taed, she stepped on one of the electrical mines.

It exploded in a blinding flash of light. H'taed squinted to see through the smoke. Had Nether survived? Had she sensed the danger and pulled a miracle out of the bag?

Posted

And right throught the smoke she came, eyes blazing with fury. Also with a grin on her face, she came foward, fist leading straight for the dents in H'taed's armour.

--

How could this have happened you wonder. Didn't she just get blown to tiny electrically charged bits you say. It turns out, Nether has a better eye than most give her credit for. Assuming he had some purpose to his running around he did earlier, apart from the Sentinals, Nether had concentrated her energy protection below her. She had seen H'taed do enough different things with those energy bombs of his to be caught offguard again.

((I had 2 plans on how this would've gone. If a bomb had gone off next to her, she would've been thrown in the opposite direction. She had her protection below her, not around her. But, if she had stepped directly on one, like she did, it would be ineffective.))

After this post, I suggest we pause our fight to let the others catch up a bit...

BIC

H'taed winced as the blows hit his armor. The tribal runes flared as the dents were struck again and again. They started to sputtered and flickered over time as the hits started to wear away the energies protecting H'taed.

H'taed suddenly raised his arms above him, and summoned a tiny sphere of electricity in his hands.

Nether felt the endurance being drained out of her.

The Rularuu behind H'taed looked tired, and weary, as if they had just finished a very long fatigueing fight.

All the drained energies from those around him swirled in a blue storm around H'taed. Then they gathered and converged in the little ball H'taed had summoned. It then sank into his armored hand.

The runes started to glow normally again, and the dents in his armor started to flatten and smooth.

Surprisingly enough, instead of conjuring electrical blades, H'taed started to pound Nether with his own punches. Only these were charged with electricity. Each time a punch landed, it would drain a little energy out of Nether and transfer it to H'taed.

And all the while his fury built. Soon he would enter a blood thirsty frenzy, and his attacks would become more accurate and powerful the longer the fight went on.

Behind Nether, the Voltaic Sentinels were blapping away with shocks of electricity, and they were slowly making thier way towards her.

-----

The portal was still growing. It was now the size of a cabinet. In a few more minutes it would be open, and in a half hour, it would be fully stabalized.

*INFO: Energy Sink: PBAoE attack, drain end from all enemies around you to restore your own end for each enemy affected.

Aoleleb stepped out of his portal near the Storm Palace

"Whoops, looks like I overshot it a little. I was aiming for Firebase Zulu."

"That's alright, you're actually where you need to be."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I suggest you read that list now. You're gonna need it."

Aoleleb opened a portal just large enough for his arm and reached into his Pocket, pulling out the list.

"From the energy signatures inside, we can tell the brute, Lord H'taed, and the scrapper, Nether Mistress, are inside. One of them has the device, but we're not sure who."

"Two on one. I don't like those odds. Assuming they're fighting over the device, who would you suggest teaming up with?"

"Although H'taed is the stronger of the two, Nether Mistress is a "Hero" in this world. Teaming up with her would ultimately help this dimension, though you would have to double-cross her eventually to get the device."

"It has to be done. Any other advice?"

"Don't die?"

"Thanks."

Aoleleb reached out to open a portal, but it wouldn't open. He let out a sigh and gathered the winds around him and flew toward the Storm Palace. It was gonna be a loooong day.

((I'm gonna let the fight progress a little more before I hop into it. I'd hate to have to destroy all those Rularuu, I just washed my robe. ))

Well they arn't going away anytime soon. However H'taed has ordered them to remain perfectly still and inert as long as nobody makes an attempt to leave the dueling ring they form...So TECHNICALLY it MIGHT POSSIBLY, CONCIVABLY, SOMEWHAT POSSIBLE to walk right past them and start fighting without any fear of attack.

Of course, you would need to worry about H'taed's invisible electric landmines, and possibly the voltaic sentinels, but currently they are focused entirely on Nether.

Posted

Aoleleb set down lightly on the edge of the Storm Palace, willing the winds away.

"Hey Krystell, where are those Rularuu you told me about?"

"There aren't any there?"

"Not from what I can see"

"They might be inside with the other two. Be careful."

Aoleleb willed the air around him to bend, refracting the light to make him invisible. He started off into the Storm Palace, ready for an attack. He was amazed nothing had happened after about five minutes of sneaking around. Not one alarm had gone off, not one Rularuu had been sighted...

Then he found the fight and realized why. The person who matched the description of Lord H'taed was pounding mercilessly on what seemed to be Nether Mistress, although she was slightly different than his list had described. He could tell Nether needed help, and knew exactly what to do. Staying hidden, he willed the ground around Lord H'taed to spring up and prevent further assult on Nether.

((Think Fossilize.))

H'taed was suddenly very surprized to find himself completely held by a huge mound of earth.

However, he had run into situations like this before. He conjured a mud bomb in both his immobilized hands, and they exploded. H'taed being an living avartar of lightning, took no damage from the blast. The stone prison he had been encased in shattered into millions of pieces, which disintergrated.

Lord H'taed thought Nether was somehow responsible for that little trick, and became even more enranged. He continued to assault her, only his blows were over twice as fast and powerful now.

The voltaics sentinels were only a few feet from Nether now. In a few seconds they would be in melee range, and if Nether didn't act quickly, she would be quickly drained then utterly destroyed under H'taed's siege.

Posted

Aoleleb was completely thrown off guard by H'taed's escape from his prison, but a good strategist always had a back-up plan. And if he didn't he thought of one quickly.

His little trick seemed to just have aggravated H'taed, and he knew he either had to get H'taed away from Nether or reveal himself. He chose the latter, just because he probably had a much better chance of surviving against H'taed than Nether did.

Dispelling the invisibility around him, Aoleleb rose into the air, arms outstretched, and hurled massive hurricane force winds at H'taed in an attempt to blow him away.

((Jeebus, I just got off work >_&lt)

Nether, who was taking blow after blow, knew she couldn't hold out much longer. For the most part, she could dodge the blows, but each one that touched her, blocked or not, was slowly draining her energy. When H'taed was suddenly encased in solid rock, she knew this was the chance. Getting ready to go on the offensive again, the rock exploded. Before she knew what had happened, H'taed was on her again, doubling his efforts. The few shots she was able to make back at him did nothing more than make him come on with even more fury.

Suddenly the air around her started moving incredibly fast. It wasn't bad to begin with, but it was picking up speed. Is this another of his tricks or something else, she thought, trying to look around while maintaining her defense.

Right as the wind hit top speed, H'taed connected. Hit square in the chest, Nether could feel a rib or two break as she was knocked back towards the ring again. She landed in a pile, concealed by shadows. When they cleard she looked like her self again ((prior to Soul Drain)).

Knowing this might be her only chance, she summoned a ring of shadows similar to before, but this one had a hint of green hidden in it. This one was followed by another, but this time with a hint of blue. The few Rularuu that were caught in both were enough. Nether could feel the ribs fuse back together, though they'd be sore for a while, and she felt energized once more. The Rularuu on the other hand, didn't look so good

"Hopefully I won't have to do that again."

Being too preoccupied with H'taed and keeping herself alive, she never noticed Aoleleb.

H'taed stopped and glared at Aoleleb. Then the hurricane started. H'taed simply yawned as the wind shot past him faster then a tornado, but leaving him not a hair out of place.

"I'm sorry Mr. Blowhard, but I think someone needs to learn thier periodic table. Electricity ALWAYS SEEKS THE GROUND. As of such, I can become literally cemented to the ground when I need to be. You just made a very. Big. Mistake."

H'taed snapped his fingers.

Suddenly, Aoleleb foudn the three voltaic sentinels buzzing around him.

"Enjoy the pleasures of my fuzzy friends."

The voltaic sentinels converged on him, activating thier melee ranged effects. If Aoleleb didn't react quickly, he would soon be drained of his endurance, and be little more then a wheezing husk.

Posted

This was going from bad to worse. Unless he could find a way to get rid of those sentinels, Aoleleb was toast. Though he had some electric powers, he could not directly influence H'taed's sentinels.

Thinking quickly, Aoleleb opened a portal to his Pocket and pulled out his sword. Sending a electric charge down the blade, he magnetized it. He flew toward the sentinels, swinging his sword through the sentinels as he passed, disrupting their magnetic field and making the energy dissapate.

Just for good measure, Aoleleb raised three boulders out of the ground and hurled them at H'taed.

((For those who have not read the description, Voltaic Sentinels are "polarized electricity field"s. The magnet disrupted the field, and the sentinels are no more. Hooray for science! Take that Mr. "Periodic Table"!))
