Completely OOC... Odd things you notice here!
Yeah, I myself am in the same boat as Laz:
0630: GET UP! Groaaaan...
0700: PT!
0730: leave fo the university
0800-0900: Aerodynamics
1030-1130: Materials
1300-1400: Astrophysics
1415-1515: Structural Analysis
And that's on CLASS days - Monday, Wednesday, Friday. On Tues and Thurs, which are my LAB days, I spend most of the time in the thermodynamics lad and the wind tunnel test section assigned to me. Not to mention that after all that, I still have homework, standard lab reports (5 pages average), detail lab reports (10 pages MINIMUM), andthen I head off to work until dinnertime.
And thank creation for the invention of TV dinners!
Not that it's not fun - I'm having an absolute BLAST! - well, okay, the triple integrals aren't so fun, but you need 'em for the labs, which are fun. - but my schedule doesn't leave me with nearly as much time as I had durning summer.
So yeah, that's why my posting's slowed down.
And the timeline thing. Yeah, that just got outta hand there. That's why in GoCC, I said at the beginning it happens outside the flow of normal time. Guess I should've taken the time t erase memories too. Oh well, done is done, time really does fight dirty, and it's all good so long as we can manage it.

Damn, I have it easy compared to Devious. My biggest hurdle is keeping from falling behind in Calc 2 and Physics as it's been two years since I've even seen an integral or calculate derivatives, so I have a bunch of 'Calculus for Dummies'-type of books to give me a crash course in remembering all I've forgotten while simulataneously trying to keep up with the new stuff.
The first Calc 2 test is at the end of this week and the first physics test next week, so time is running out to study enough to ace those tests. If I don't do well on the first test it'll only get worse as the semester goes on.
At least chemistry is easy so far but it's too easy right now as it's Chem 101, which I need to get into Chem 142 next semester. Then from there I'll need a few more years of chemistry as I work towards a major in Chemical Engineering.
Funny that I've been running into so many engineering students lately.
So anyhow, who's going to host the halloween RP this year? Maybe Essex can take the kids trick-or-treating in Bright Star.
BTW, Happy Birthday Devious.
I'd volunteer for a halloween RP...
but we'd probably end up with a legion of zombies
and one guy with a chainsaw and shotgun

Couldn't you have mentioned this sooner or something? That way some of us wouldn't have to worry about hatreds or alliances cooked up during Final Fight?
Heck, if no one remembers FF, Ghoul won't remember Rosie, Archlich won't remember Blightlord, Toy won't remember any of youse, and interactions between people in SOOOO many other threads would be affected.
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.

As for the love interest issue, it may also be beneficial to consider the characters you're talking about. I'm going to take Hal and Essex, because if they're not the example, they're definitely an example.
Hallucinogen has shown himself to be insecure and protective. I have seen him care for very few things aside from his own life, and even then not much for that. The fact that he actually cares for Essex makes it no wonder, to me, that he clings to her so badly. ((That's not to say he's not a great character. XP That's just what I see.))
As for Essex, well...Essex loves everybody. XD; She has quite a bit of knowledge, but essentially her lack of experiences in the outside world and with the complicated emotional processes she's trying to figure out gives her the mentality of a timid child. Children frighten easily and gravitate toward what they know will protect them - in Essex's case, it may be Hal, it may be Toy, it may be Acid, it may be Reikoff, it may be Pstorm. In fact, she really doesn't know where she stands with Hal - She knows she feels very strongly towards him, but is unable to identify and isolate the feeling.

I just felt I should respond to this. This is EXACTLY how I see the relationship, down to the last detail. So yeah. I agree with this.
However, the suggestion I had. What if Essex, at some point, could give Hal some sort of transmitter or something, that would let him talk to her basically any time, and tell him if she was in danger. This would make him much more willing to do things without her, because he could just call her if he was worried. . . and as you may know. . . if you can do something ANYTIME. . . you often do it much less.

You are now.
If you short circuited it, doesn't that mean you broke it? Which means I'm REALLY not happy?

NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
No, that'd be an open circuit. A Short means it's on all the time now. Now you're a super-fun-happy robot!
You sure? Cause I don't feel any different.
I do feel the urge to hug a puppy though.

And I don't think it's realistic to have everyone lose their memory at the end of Final Fight anyway. Maybe the memories are just a little fuzzy - you remember you met these people, but the fight part just...doesn't seem important, and you have trouble picking up the details?

As Essex looked into the blank frame, images seemed to swim before her eyes. . . Night. . . the painting appeared to show the roof of a building, and there was a large helicopter to one side. . . and on the other side, a figure floating in the air, with darkness swirling around it, and clockwork wings spreading from its back . . .

My favorite reference to FF from another thread.
I noticed something a while ago in hero stories...
Most heroes have no parents. I mean, come on, not EVERY hero loses their parents to become heroes! After all, look at Essex!
No, not that way Hal.
She has a 'father', and she is a perfectly good heal-bot!
Hell, even 2.0 has parents! I was planning to bring them in in MotM, but seeing as how that has died again...
Talking of which, thanks a lot Hal! Your mutant power has totally weirded out the posting times! You used Mutation didn't you... Don't you know everything completely crashes soon after its use? Jeez!
Billyboy has parents! Really nice parents, in fact! How do you think he ended up being the spoiled brat he is, by living in a broken home?
LOL.
I had a roommate like that Freshman year of college. I hated her. Daddy was an executive and bought her everything and she was horribly mean to the little nerdlet who was always quietly typing away in the corner.
Her parents were GODS. They sent her a package and sent me chocolate-covered espresso beans (which she promptly ate) and some gourmet cocoa, and would write letters to her mentioning that I was "such a sweet girl." Whenever they came, they'd take us out to dinner and talk with me for hours about things.
>_>
And ROSALIND had parents! ...Of course, they were herd dogs that died of old age about 180 years ago, but ...
Japancakes.

((Hmm...what an interesting point, Prodiguy. I think that most Heroes/Villains lack parents, or even guiding figures, because it tends to complicate the story. You made me think though...what about my characters?
Heroside, most of them have family. Maybe not both parents, but there's definitely some sort of support structure. I only have one, actually, that is an orphan. Villainside, I have four that are orphans, but only for two of them does it actually matter. I have one that's been disowned, as well, and two 'bots.
What about everyone else? What does your mix look like? ))

Huh, something just struck me that I find extremely weird and disturbing!
Alright, so I've just read The Catcher in the Rye for my american studies honors seminar class, and I absolutely hated it. The main character, I think, is a psycopathic maniac who needs to be shot. He's the most unlikeable character IN THE WHOLE WORLD, and I really can't stand reading the stupid book. It made me so mad the whole time I was reading it, because he constantly criticized everyone and did really, really dumb things.
But now that I think about it....
Billyboy is, in a way, very similar to Holden Caufield! He's annoying, loud, and has these wild impulses that come out of nowhere. He's unlikable a lot of the time, and he gets mad at people easily and can be a huge jerk. Now that I think about it, maybe I'm angry at The Catcher in the Rye for stealing my hero....
((Seriously? I loved Catcher in the Rye...then again, I read A Farewell to Arms and enjoyed that too. Must be something about rain and alcohol.
I'd have to argue that Billy and Holden Caulfield are nothing alike. While they have similar behaviors, at their core they do not share anything. Caulfield, if I remember correctly, has no great need to be liked. He's a member of a priviledged elite, and as such expects to be handed everything he needs. He's literally having his last fling before setting down into the routine of an elevated social strata.
Billy actually genuinely cares for people, and doesn't (always) view them as objects to be used or ignored. He's insecure, yes, but at his core he wants to make a difference in the world. Caufield is merely disaffected, and cannot see what difference he might make.
Now...this is from having read the book nearly 8 years ago. *sighs as she gives away her age* Please correct me if I've completely misremembered.))

No, no, the Catcher in the Rye just sucked, period. You didn't need for it to have parallels between your character and its main character to despise it.
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
As for parents, my characters are pretty mixed.
Billyboy has both parents, and they've never had trouble in their lives, so it seems. They're a perfect couple and spoiled him rotten because he's their only child.
Another hero, the Champion, had his parents both killed when he was an infant and was raised in an orphanage by (cliche) nuns! He never knew his parents, but his anger at their killer is one of the things that drives him. Well, he really is angry at everything, but if his parents hadn't been killed, then he really would never have been put in his predicament.
I haven't thought much about the home life of Maestro. Maybe I should think on that.
As for Jaredman, he was raised by his mother, because his father was killed when he was young. He still remembers him, but not well. It's a risk in Arcadia, he was just unlucky to lose a family member, but it just makes him more sure of his cause.
Dr. Phillis was raised by his father, because his mother died in childbirth. How could that happen, you ask? Well, anyone in SH101 will find out later! No telling my secrets! Let's just say, it isn't the guilt that makes him a villain, but it did have an impact on him for another reason.
Evil Jaredman has no parents, but he calls Dr. Phillis "Pops" because he created him.
Cyba's parents raised her and her sister, but they both died after she had left the house. In bad fashion, I can tell you that much. Nobody likes being attacked by vampires.

I love you!
Glad you argue, Pyrria, and yes, I realize that Billyboy is NOTHING like Holden is deep down. I mean, Billyboy is desperate for attention from everybody, while Holden just hates everyone because he's the world's most bitter nonconformist. But they both do the same kind of crazy things! Maybe Billyboy doesn't go as crazily psycotic when he does his weird stuff.
Okay, my head is kind of cleared, I'm glad you guys don't agree with me!

Less threads, or use different characters in different threads.

Kind of hard with all these "They have to know <insert my character>" threads that popped up recently. I wonder who's idea that was...
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah those threads kind of irritate me...
when i make/run RP threads I always try to make them as exclusive to one another as possible.
For instance it's physically impossible for The Game to take place in normal continuity. And Battle For Tokyo is essentially a large 'What If?' scenario that's only semi-canon until Cryptic tells us what happened to other cities outside Paragon. Millenium Arena is also non-canon.
Twin Temples, however....
