Cobalt proceeded to thwack Feliks with the foam mallet as well. "Outa my way!"

The mallet hit Feliks on the head, sending his cap flying off his head. Shocked, he grabbed for the offending weapon instinctively. He held on with both hands.
"You jerk! What did you do that for! I'm only trying to help!"

Meanwhile, Ghoul was rolling around on the ground laughing his head off. A whole bunch of girls soaking wet, somebody getting whacked by a foam mallet, and water balloons everywhere; it was his kind of day.

"Another one, eh?" came a raspy voice from behind the new arrival.

Archlich tapped one boney hand against his skull in consternation and then crossed his arms.

"And who might you be, little girl?"

"And who might you be, little girl?"

Sienna whirled around floating on her little fairy wings. Smiling at Archlich she shrank in size and answered his question in a series of whistles and notes that were remarkably pleasant though unintelligible unless you spoke fairy.

Then flying though a series of loops she left a trail of fairy sparkles she wrote her name in the air.

SIENNA

She enlarged to half size smiling brightly as the letters faded.

Virelai simply sat on the porch, continuing to watch everyone, sucking her thumb furiously. She adjusted her eyepatch, her scarred eye continuing to watch the others--particularly the baby Maltans.

"A fairy?" Archlich said in surprise. "Hmm. Come with me Sienna. I shall try and find an artifact that will enable you to speak with the others and myself. You may decline if you wish, however."

Archlich walked past Sienna and started up the stairs to his room.

Grime looked back. "He is coming..."

"Quickwy, cast an invisibiwity spewl and hide!" ordered Blightlord.

They had almost managed to open the door. So close... it would have to wait until Archlich left.

Grime muttered the spell, and their bodies faded from sight.

Just in case, they quickly ducked down behind a corner, thinking it likely Archlich would have ways to see through the spell.

Sienna shrank down to a tiny globe of light and flew circles around Archlich’s legs as he went to retrieve the language device. Halfway up the stairs she untied one of his shoes.

Burning had walked back inside the house, looking for someone to play with, when the doorbell rang.

He cocked his head, and walked over. Leaping up, and hovering in the air as he twisted the doorknob.

An elderly man wearing a long robe walked inside, a small girl staying close beside him.

She had long brown hair, and wore what looked like a martial artists uniform, except brown, and she wore odd boots that had a spike on the heel, and wore a red sash around her waist.

The man chuckled and patted Burning's head before stepping inside.

Burning hovered down beside the girl. "What's your name?"

"Danica."

There was a short silence as Danica looked around the room, until Burning finally said, "You're pretty."

The girl's eyes narrowed, and she kicked Burning in the shin.

He fell over, clutching his leg and stifling a sniffle as Danica walked towards the elderly man who was patiently waiting for someone to greet them.

"That my mallet!" Cobalt cried as Feliks managed to wrench it from her grip. Taking a step back and reaching in her backpack, she drew a large nerf gun and aimed it at him. "Give it back!"

OOC: Good thing Archlich's boots don't have laces!

BIC: Archlich paused as he heard the door open again and then tilted back to see what was up. Seeing the old man with the little girl and one of the new children already on the floor crying, Archlich sighed and headed back down the stairs.

Making a slight detour to pick up several papers for the man to fill out, Archlich otheriwse made a bee line for the two.

"Welcoe to the Bright Star Children's Home," Archlich rasped. "I am Archlich, the co-owner of this establishment. If you have come to enroll your child here for any amount of time, please fill out these forms."

Archlich handed the forms to the man along with a pen that he pulled out from under his breastplate.

The elderly man cast a wary glance at Archlich as he took the offered pen.

"You are not one I would expect to see running a daycare center." His tone was polite, but obviously showed he was becoming unsure of this decision.

Danica looked outside the window at the other children playing. She tugged on the old man's robe, causing him to look down.

She had a pleading look in her eyes, and a small pout. The old man chuckled and shook his head.

"Alright, little one."

He began to fill out the papers. Danica grinned and ran outside to see a boy with a mallet, and a girl with a toy gun.

She ran up to them, smiling broadly. "Can I play?"

Archlich inwardly sighed. It was another one of those.

"If you are worried that I may suddenly turn evil and try to sacrifice the children in some bloody demonic ritual, do not be. I consider running this place as...penance...for the crimes I did long ago. And heroes are always watching," Archlich chuckled humorlessly. "I couldn't try anything if I wanted to."

While he talked, Archlich's hand had been working a simple charm that would make his words seem more believable to the man. All the better to get him to shut up, sign the papers, and let Archlich get back to whatever life he had in this Abyss-forsaken place.

The man's smile was calm, and would make Archlich uneasy when he realized the man knew what he was trying to do, and even more unsettling, was resisting it.

"Truly there is no punishment more difficult or rewarding than one such as this," he said, signing the papers.

He handed Archlich his pen, and took a last glance at Danica.

"Keep the girl safe. She has been through much lately."

There was something in his tone of voice... a hint of sadness, as he turned to leave.

He feared he may never see his granddaughter again.

((Changing tactics))

The miniscule Sienna frowned at the lack of laces but that didn’t stop fairy magic. Fairy sparkles formed lines like laces that flopped around Archlich's feet though they couldn’t actually trip him. As he turned and headed downstairs, she followed growing big enough to be seen she mimicked Archlich's mannerisms and mimed his mouth movements as he explained the paperwork to the new arrival.

When Danica charged outside, Sienna unpinned the parchment from her clothes and dropped it on the counter. It was blank but immediately words began to form on it in swirling sparkles as it filled itself out to contain the same information as the standard enrollment form.

She then flew after Danica to find more trouble/fun

((Heh, if present-2.0 were around, he would not only make fun of Burning for being kicked by Danica, but also make jokes about the fact that next to no children were around because they were seperate pieces in the sink thanks to Archlich...))

2.0 looked up at the newly produced nerf gun, and smirked. "Pfft, that hurts much less than your mallet! Do you weally think that you can hurt meh like dat?"

Archlich's eyes narrowed slightly, his version of a frown, when he realized the man was resisting his charm. But apparently he took no umbrage and left in short order, for which the lich was thankful. Looking down, Archlich swiftly negated the weak binding enchantment that the sprite had placed on his boots and then gathered up the two sets of papers.

"Good thing I didn't have to actually sit a fairy down and tell it to write stuff out," Archlich muttered to himself as he filed the papers and then sat back down to work some more. He had already forgotten about getting the translation amulet for the fairy.

Feliks smiled after successfully pulling away the mallet, but frowned when Cobalt removed her nerf gun.
"So, you want a duel do you..."
Lost in his own imagination, he threw the mallet between them. It bounced on the ground till coming to rest slightly closer to Cobalt. He lowered his hand to his pocket, where he kept a rubber band gun. A wooden weapon resembling a old western Six-shooter stashed in his pants pocket. Feliks imagined spaghetti-western music playing in the back round, as the two had a stand off.
He narrowed his eyes and nervously played with the handle of the gun. He spoke with a fake western drawl.
"Alright, partner. Your move, the mallet, or your life."
The entire scene looked ridiculous, but to him it was deadly serious.

Danica looked at the two. "You're weird," she said before walking between them, picking up the mallet, and walking to the fort.

Suddenly torn from his fantasies of greatness, he shouted.
"Hey! You cant just interrupt a duel like that! That’s...that’s against the rules are something! You put that mallet back right now!"
Then, it dawned on him. This new comer had just taken his mallet. His mallet! Which he had struggled for so hard.
He drew his gun in a flash, and primed the band inside.
"Or I just may have to take it from you."

2.0 sighed, and stood, brushing himself off, coughing out some grass that had been in his mouth. "Put the 'deadly' weapon down, fool. It will most likely end in you crying and calling for your mother otherwise." he muttered, leaving the area quickly, walking back to Essex.

"As I said, it was not... Uh, 'her' fault. If you will punish anyone, let it be me for damaging the watering hose."

Danica turned around, cocking her head at the strange boy.

She stuck out her tongue and ran inside the fort.

Torn between reason and honor, he fired once at Danica as she ran. Then he turned on 2.0. He was furious that his reason had won over rage. His vengeance. But all in all Feliks knew 2.0 was right. After all, it wasn’t even his problem. It was Cobalt’s mallet.
"I do not call for my mother. But that’s besides the point."
He leaned real close to 2.0 and whispered.
"Between you and me, if you hadn’t damaged the hose, this would have been waaay more boring."
