Bright Star Children's Home (Open, Just For Fun)
"Well, where is your home?" Essex fretted to Kip and Sarah. "Are you far? It's awfully late for you two to be out...."
Just then, she heard new arrivals arguing at the door, and crying coming from upstairs. The young caretaker seemed to sigh, running her bustered hands through her long, blonde hair.
"Where in the world is Archlich..." she sighed. "If these keeps up...I'll have to cancel tomorrow night. I just can't leave everyone..."
Turning back to the children out back, she smiled. "Come in if you like, kids. I'll leave the door open; give me just one moment..."
With that, she dashed to the front door. Essex opened it, glancing down.
A scowling little elf.
A very improperly dressed little fellow.
And.... a child-sized box?
"...What on earth?" she murmured, tilting her head. "Oh dear...Where did you three come from? What in the world are you doing in that box?"
The android pulled the box inside worriedly, and carefully lifted the latch.
"Who would put a child in a box..." she murmured, somewhat scornfully, unaware that Archlich was responsible for doing quite the same thing to Devin upstairs.

((Also, Hal, the boys sleep in a different room. D: But I'll let you do it remotely, since they could probably hear Vir crying, and...eh, it's Moonscribe. <_<)
Virelai's crying stirred Truefeather, who sat up, and looked about rather dreamily through her mostly-closed eyes.
"Ah..." she murmured pleasantly at the wildly flying feathers. Once the window opened and they all whooshed out into the night, she sighed.
Rosie couldn't take it any more.
The were-human quietly sprung out of bed, creeping up to the side of Virelai's.
"Hey, Virelai!" she whispered, her ears perked and her orange eyes glowing slightly over the edge of the bed. "What's wrong?"

There was a heavy clunk from upstairs followed by a dozen other, more muffled, thumps as a piece of armor tumbled down the stairs. Archlich irritably followed in its wake, mostly glad in his black, rune enscribed armor, and snagged the fallen piece once it hit bottom.
"Handle the emotional ones," Archlich said to Essex as he snapped the armor into place and looked over at the newcomers. "I shall see about getting yet more of our 'guests' settled."
His glowing blue eyes looking from Snuffy and Kip at the back door to Anarhis, the elf, and the box, the lich sighed and waved for them to step forward. His wave also caused the box to float slowly into the air towards him, giving at least one group of children little reason to not come in.
"I am Archlich," he said as the box floated toward him. "The second of two managers of this house. I will require your names and your reasons for being here as well as whether or not you will be staying the night. It is, after all, a little too dangerous for children to be wandering about outside unattended."
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
Before Anarhis had gotten into the house, he could have sworn he'd heard "[censored]!" Yelled at him from the upstairs window.

Kip looked back to the bushes where he and Sarah had entered the yard. The woods seemed somewhat more foreboding than when he and his best friend had been passing through them. Still, he had to try...
"Uh... Actually, sir, I just need to see if we can get home, first..."
Sarah took one look at the woods and shuddered a little.
"Um... I'll wait here, Kippers."
The little guy bounded for the edge of the yard and started rooting through the bushes. He could feel the others staring at him. Ignoring the strange hot feeling in his cheeks he kept pushing through the bushes until...
"Woah!" he pushed his hand into an inky darkness his vision couldn't penetrate, "That's a little scary..."
"Kippers!" he heard Sarah call out to him, "Come on!"
"Oh... Dad's not gonna like this..." he muttered as he pulled his hand back (thankfully, perfectly fine), "Okay, I'm coming back..."
"My name is Sarah Daring Grey," she squeaked to Archlich, "My friends call me Snuffy!"
Kip walked up, rubbing his right hand and glaring through the corner of his eye at the treeline.
"It looks like we're stuck here..." he sounded like he intended to do more digging later, "Uh... My name, right? I'm Kip. Kip Durj. We kinda wound up here in a game of night-time hide-and-seek... And I have no idea how to get back..."

"Well, you're welcome to come in, Kip, Snuffy." Essex said with an amused smile, holding the railing of the staircase. "And sir Archlich, if you're handling these three boys... I will go up and check in on the girls."
The boys and girls could soon hear the android's soft footsteps coming up the stairs.
"Gah, crap!" Rosalind whispered harshly. "Everybody back to bed!!"
The little were-child practically dove back into her own bunk, squeezing her eyes closed in what she hoped was a flawless mockery of sleep.

Ozell had just about stepped out of the box when Archlich lifted it up into the air- with a yelp, he fell down and clung for dear life to the open edge. Before the door could swing back closed on his fingers, though, the elf's small hand shot up to stop it as he regarded Archlich with an 'are you stupid' look.
"I'm Claude. My not-parents sent me here so they didn't have to deal with me."
After a lingering gaze up at the window, the incubus stepped forward, tail flicking back and forth with an amused grin. His silky tone of voice suggested something wasn't quite right with this child. But then again, dressed in what could constitute bondage gear, what was?
"I'm Anarhis. My mommy sent me here to adjust... I want to meet everyone."
Claude looked to him a bit disapprovingly, as the one in the box piped up, boyish voice light with concern.
"I-I-I'm Ozell, and.... I-I don't know why I was sent here. I-I promise I won't get in the way, but thank you for having me."
"Promise you won't get in the way? Perfect." Claude looked to Archlich. "I think he came with his own bed, so if you could set him down and lead me to mine, we'd be saving one."
Anarhis piped up, "Why not sleep together and save two beds..?"
"Because I need space. I roll around in my sleep." Claude narrowed his eyes at Anarhis. "And kick. And punch and bite. And therefore NO." Staring sternly at him, he finally took his hand off the door when it looked like it wasn't about to close on Ozell's fingers.
Archlich twisted his hand around and the box flipped over so that Ozell tumbled out and lightly hit the ground, slightly bouyed by the levitation spell Archlich had been using on the box. It's occupant now out, Archlich swiftly directed the box to sit in a corner and crossed his arms as he regarded the children.
"So three more humans, an elf, and a demon. I'm sure you will all fit in wonderfully. Now, what exactly are your ages? I'm fairly sure none of you are above ten, but I have been accused of being a bad judge of age before."

((Uh... The whole neighbors thing is a "Kind of..." moment. Kingdale (Kip and Sarah's hometown) happens to have a peculiar geometry when it comes to extraplanar and mystic capabilities. It's an anomoly, as the town and its surrounding county don't actually exist on any lay lines or nodes, yet has a strong mystical capability. As such, it has become a sort of resort for fey, demons, wizards, witches, "mad" scientists, and all manner of other peculiar "tansmundanes." A place like this needs something to keep so many confusing, converging and conflicting forces from destroying each other (and revealing their presence to the "normals"), but that's a different story to what's going on to bring Kip and Sarah to this place.
Simply put, the various wooded areas surrounding the town and farms are host to all sorts of mystical phenomena. One of the more common events are various portals that lead to anywhere from other dimensions to other regions of the globe (provided they have sufficient magical strength to sustain such "reality impossibilities"). Kip and Snuffy have just passed through one of these portals and wound up here at their tender young age.
As you can see, I have given the background of my characters considerably more thought and effort than I let on here in the forums.))
"I'm six," Kipland answered.
"I'm five..." Sarah's eyes twinkled as she smiled at Archlich, "I'll be six soon, though!"

Magda pointed and vanished the rosebush from in front of the door, and flitted back to her windowsill, and her rose bed. She curled up, tail over her eyes, and tried hard not to giggle.

Shiro grinned as the rosebush disappeared and his view became undisrupted. He watched the goings on inside the room from his vantage point of the cracked door. He sat there sipping from his sippy cup.
Magda cracked an eyelid, and pointed at Shiro's ear. Behind it grew a rose with a small spill of ivy behind it. She giggled and purred all at the same time, an impossible-sounding sound.

"Gah," Shiro shouted as he tried to swat the flower from behind his ear. He shut his mouth as he realized his cloak had dropped. He spun it again and kept very silent.
Magda giggled merrily as she flitted to where she could smell the flower, even his cloak couldn't hide that scent. She alit on his shoulder, and tickled his ear with her tail.
"Y'cannae get rid o' th' flower, silly boy. It be magic!" she whispered.

Virelai stopped her sneezing as soon as Magda had touched her. She wrinkled her nose, confused, obviously having no experience with magic before. "...thank you?"
Firmly implanting her thumb back in her mouth, she jumped slightly as Rosie appeared next to her. She whirled around to face the newcomer next to her, then shrugged lamely at her question. "...I'm just allergic to feathers. And I hate being surrounded by them. Nothing special."
Shiro's cloak, however, had drawn the attention of another of the rooms occupants. Having sneezed and shifted into a ball of light, Stell had found herself in a 'body' that had no way to be asleep, and so, had wondered around. The peepers cry and spinning of energy drew the puffball's attention.
<Hi!> She chirped at him.

Experiment sat up slowly, reminiscent of those old vampire movies. He glanced side to side, and then fell back on his pillow. "It is night time. It is BED time. I want to go to sleep. Noise won't LET me go to sleep... SHUT UP WITH THE NOISE!" was his first instinct. His next, which he followed?
"Anger- 1. Sandman- 0."
He then drove his face into the pillow, attempting yet again to sleep.
((Awesome, Grey. XP Glad to have your little dimension-hoppers around! XD))
Shiro was soon tapped from behind.
"And just what are you doing?" Essex murmured pleasantly, putting her hands on her hips in mock scorn but still smiling a little. She wasn't speaking loudly enough to disrupt the sleeping children, but wagged her finger. "Don't you think you're a little young for this sort of thing? Oh well. Come on, back to bed, little fellow."
With that, she herded him back towards the boys' room, and returned, quietly, to the girls' room, smiling at Stell.
"Everything okay in here?" she asked quietly, tucking in some of the still-sleeping girls.

Shiro waved at the puffball as he was being taken away. He looked up at Essex and gave her an awkward smile, all the world trying to look charming. "Wasn't doin' anythin', just lookin'," he told her as she shuffled him into the room. He went back to his bed and covered up, taking small sips from his cup.
Magda didn't say anything as she clung to Shiro's jacket collar. She hadn't seen the boys side yet, so she was curious... and might as well cause some mischief while she was at it. she fluttered up off of his shoulder leaving little trails of pixie dust behind her as she did so.
Flitting around somewhere around the ceiling, she began laying tiny illusions, waiting to see which ones would actually take. She turned the boys' clothes a bright, startling, glittery pink. Not all of the illusions held, but some did, and she giggled like the tinkling of tiny bells as she flew at top speed out of the room.

((Also, Ess, you-know-who will appear in the morning--since it's late at night, it's not good for somebody to appear now and disturb things further. :3))
Devin's clothing was hidden by the blankets he was wrapped around, but he stared at Magda with an expression that could only be described as pure, sheer horror. Not because she was a girl, but because of his hallucinations picturing her as a...creature.
A human with wings, specifically, with all of their flesh flayed off, leaving dripping muscles and organs falling through the unprotected bone--the face was a flaming skull, with the eyeballs still in it (though being burned and charred), and the tongue extended out at length through the mouth, dripping a vile, green poison.
The creature cackled maniacally as it swooped through the air, sweeping over to his bed and perching on the end.
Help us... A telepathic link opened up between Devin's mind and the creature. Help us...kill them all.
Devin shut his eyes and whimpered as he felt his mind being probed.
You have such knowledge on how to kill people! So many ways by which to murder them...
Scaphism, necklacing, breaking wheel, blood eagle, flaying, electric chair...Devin felt his mind raided as each method of execution he knew was brought to mind.
You know you want to re-enact them, don't you?
...y...yes...I do...I've killed before...I want to kill again...
It gives you so much power, doesn't it, having control over someone's life and death? It gives you...so much respect.
Please, stop tempting me...killing is wrong...killing is wrong...
But wrong is needed in this world--for something good to happen, something bad must happen first. It's a law of nature.
Killing is wrong...killing is wrong...killing is wrong...killing is wrong...
Stop chanting that to yourself, Devin. You know your base instincts want you to kill them all.
Killing is wrong...making them...bleed, making them scream, making them cry, making them squeal UNTIL THEY BEG FOR MERCY AND THEN TEARING OUT THEIR RIBS AND BREAKING THEIR SPINE FROM THE INSIDE is wrong is wrong is wrong is wrong is wrong is wrong...wrong...wrong wrong wrong wrong...
Devin. Listen to me, Devin...
Killing is wrong...killing...killing is wrong...
killing...
killing is...
killing is...
Killing is right, Devin. Indulge in it.
Killing is...right...

Jarrod stirred slightly as he felt something...change over him. He wasn't quite sure WHAT changed, but he knew SOMETHING changed. As soon as he looked down at himself, staring and blinking at the bright pink that now adorned his form, he soon realized what it was.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH! I'M A GIRL! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!"
Whether or not his realization was right, however, was up to discussion.
((Wow, this post had so many italics in it it wasn't even funny))
Experiment was just about to sit up and shout 'SHUT UP!', but his own illusion stopped him.
A light was shining at the door, and it seemed to have a strange pull, an ominous (although he had no idea what that word meant) aura seemed to be attracting him toward it. However, a voice continued to ring in his head.
"Don't go into the light, Experiment! Don't go into the light!"
The hero-child immediately swept under the sheets again, whimpering.
"I don't wanna go with you, evil polter-guy! Go 'way!"
Moonscribe stirred in his sleep, then frowned and yawned, and his eyes slowly opened.
Moonscribe shrugged and began pressing the ground as though he were using his little keyboard still, and before a moment had passed, the window in the girls' bedroom had burst open, the feathers had all been blown out of it by a sudden gust of wind, which oddly enough only seemed to affect the feathers, and the window had closed again.
And shortly after, Moonscribe was again asleep as though nothing had ever happened.
