But Burning was waiting for this.

As soon as she unphased, he sent a bolt of fire straight into her back.

Scout calculated how completely unfair this was, and then continued with its computed course of action. This was the gladiator ring, and fair had nothing to do with it.

Patting Brawler on the shoulder Scout jumped towards the ground behind Shinae in a skyward leap, preparing to follow up on Brawler's blast of flame...

Shinae heard the bolt of fire comming, but it was too late, she was sent to the ground with the her back burnt and smoking. "Ok...this is alot tougher than I thought." Shinae said as she slowly began to get back to her feet.

Burning stole the heat from the ground around her, and encased her legs in ice.

"We can make this painless if you hold still," he said. "Or you can call a surrender."

"Thats one thing I learned from my crazy brothers, I'm not giving up." Shinae phase shifted through the ice and closer to hal so they could help each other out. (crap i gtg, be back in 3 hrs)

Scout landed with a THOOM as Brawler spoke for Shinae's surrender. His gauntlets powered up and thrumming, the full prescence of the 7'6" robot towered over her. Its mechanical voice managed to carry sympathy, "This one proposes you take the firey ones advice. This one would regret having to take unnecessary steps to end the match."

[edit]((And Hal has been...erm...burninated. It's 3 on 1, so this will be...interesting))[/edit]

"Why do they never surrender?" he asked no one in particular.

He waited for Shinae to return to this reality, before stealing the heat from the air around her, and encasing her in a thick block of ice.

((It'll crack enough for her to escape after one attack from us.))

(OOC: What's interesting is Shinae is a phaser...meaning it could STILL go either way )

The giant mech lifted a fist and brought it down with as much force that it was allowed ontop of Ian. Ian just smiled as the slab of metal neared. “I’ve been waiting for a chance like this,” he said as he gripped his wooden sword in what looked like an iaijutsu. “Combination technique: FLASHING STEEL TO STING OF THE WASP!” The mech fist crashed into the ground causing the arena to rumble, seemingly pulverizing the young swordsman but with a flash of white streaking from his blade, he burst into an unearthly speed right through the mech’s right armored leg. “Brilliant Steel,” he finished as he put the bokken back under his belt.

The mech began to turn but when it lifted its right leg its foot stayed planted on the ground. It let down its leg to finish the turn but was put off balance causing it to use a fist to keep itself from falling. “Heh, match over,” Ian mocked as he faced the disabled robot.

“Wow! Did you see that, folks!? It may not seem like such a feat from the audience but that mech has some top of the line armor! He cut through it like a knife through butter.....literally!” The announcer called out in his excited tone. Suddenly, a light on its lower back sparked to life. It was a small transmitter or beacon of somekind that was revealed from a thick plate of protective armor. “And when I said top of the line, I meant ‘Top of the Line’!” Metallic tendrils shot from the severed leg and pulled the foot back into place. In a matter of seconds, blue sparks were shooting from the damaged section and it was completely repaired. “That blue beacon on its back is a transmitter that transmits damage and repair information to a super computer! It can also signal information to its severed parts! You won’t be able to take it down that way Quick-Strike!”

“WHAT!?” Ian shouted. “The one time I can actually do something against one of these things and it has to be one that repairs itself!?” The transmitter was only revealed for a few seconds at the start of the repair process then sank back into the robot with a thick plate of armor to protect it. “Okay then, if that’s how you want to do it....” Ian said as he drew his bokken once more. The mech swung its heavy arm along the ground at the teen who just waited for the attack.

The shadows under Ian became thicker and Jase quickly rose up from it. He grabbed Ian by the shoulders and they both sank into darkness just before the robot arm could hit. They appeared behind one of the large stone pillars around the arena, “We have to use our heads if we’re going to beat this thing,” he barked, “So stop charging in like an idiot.”

“How was I suppose to know it could fix itself!?”

“Just figure something out so we can finish that thing off.”

“Me!? Why do I have to think of a plan?” Ian protested but just began rubbing his bare chin to think of an attack tactic. “Easy. I just attack it to damage it and when that transmitter thing pops up, you destroy it.”

As the two planned, the armor suit punched at the stone pillar they were hiding behind. Jase easily escaped by fading into shadow again but Ian barely managed to leap out of the path of flying debris. Jase tossed a handful of shuriken which spun and bounced off the thick armor of the robot which was mainly to get its attention while Ian got to his feet. Ian rolled to his feet and quickly ran behind another stone pillar. The robot’s left hand contorted and slid apart to reveal an energy blasting assault cannon. It quickly fired a volley of blasts at Jase, all of them hitting their mark but they just past through him; it was only an image to fool the robot, Jase had disappeared into the Shadow Place already.

Meanwhile, Ian was leaping up the mech’s leg to get to the head. It tried to grab at him but Ian jumped from the chest plate and launched himself up to the head. “Take this!” he shouted with a powerful strike up that knocked the head back, damaging its neck. The mech tried to grab Ian again but Ian prepared to slice the hand off. He only managed to cut the armor plating a bit but it was only a distraction; metallic tentacles extended from the damaged area in the neck and wrapped around Ian when his back was turned. “AH! I was careless! GAH!” he shouted as the life was being squeezed from him. The transmitter in the robot’s lower back revealed itself to repair the mech’s neck damage. Jase emerged from the shadows, prepared to strike at the transmitter. “Ian!” he shouted when he saw his partner captured. He forgot about attacking the transmitter and shadow skipped to the robot’s feet.

He threw a storm of blades up at the tendrils holding Ian, managing to cut him free. Ian fell and Jase was prepared to catch him but the mech’s fist slammed into Ian as he dropped, sending him flying. Jase quickly ran after him, half catching and half breaking the fall and melted into the shadows again. “Ian? Are you hurt?” he asked after they emerged behind the farthest pillar. He leaned Ian against the stone but he was unconscious. “Great....now I have to finish this bucket of bolts myself.”

The ninja stepped from behind his hiding place, ready to pull out as many tricks as he could. “Alright metal pants! Let’s dance!” The mech turned and started walking toward him. “SHURIKEN STRIKE!” Jase began throwing wave after wave of blades at the armored mech but they all just bounced off, some being plunged into the walls and floor but the robot kept coming. “Okay, UNJI! UNSHO! IMPALE!” He drew the oversized kunai strapped to his back(he has to hold them in separate hands because of their size) and launched them at the mech’s arms. The mech hesitated as the huge knives embedded themselves into the arm joints that connected with the shoulders. There were a few sparks but the machine was relatively unaffected.

“Heh, how about this then? SHADOW THREAD!” Jase opened his palms toward the hulking enemy and threads of pure darkness stretched from each of the dozens of shuriken that were embedded in the walls and floor and connected with the loops in his Unji and Unsho blade. It resembled a sort of web or net and as the robot moved closer, the threads became taut, forcing Unji and Unsho deeper into the robot. Realizing its predicament, the mech stopped moving and starting shooting energy blasts.

“Behind you!” Jase shouted as he rose from the shadows. The robot was firing at an image and it was too late to turn. “Okay! One more time!” More threads of shadow connected from the tips of his fingers to his Unji and Unsho blades, passing right through the mech’s armor. With one mighty pull, his blades returned to him. His Unji blade simply created a hole in the shoulder as it passed but his Unsho blade took off it’s whole right arm.

The bot began its repair functions, revealing the transmitter in plain sight of Jase. He caught Unji and launched it right at the blue light. Without fail, it destroyed the transmitter and the repair of its arm stopped. “Ha....not so....tough,” he said between gasps. Wielding Unsho was draining him so he put it back on his back.

“That’s a ninja for ya’! Those guys can do anything, huh? Way to go Nightmare-Srike!” the announcer cheered along with the crowd but suddenly the mech’s repair functions restarted. “Woops! I guess it had more than one transmitter! One in its lower back and another in its chest! Oh, and one transmitter can probably repair the other, guess its more complicated than we first thought!”

Jase pulled his Unji blade back and put it on his back. He was unsure how he could manage to destroy this thing.

((And now anyone can jump in. It was mainly to show how defensive it is but it'll start firing missiles from its other arm and repulsion blasts from shoulder cannons which are like repulsion bombs(a not-very-damaging AoE knockback/disorient power for all those non-FF players ) ))

Curore flew lazily down the hallway, posed as if floating on his back in water, hands behind his head. Following the instructions, he soon arrived at Ryjuta's gladiator lounge, and still hovering above the ground, knocked thrice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Back in Neimand's rec room, his gladiators cheered both matches onward. After reading the match rules for the mecha match, he realized he was allowed to enter one contestant in a "surprise twist of event" (typical Arena Trust mumbo-jumbo to add excitement for fans). Speaking over the commotion, Neimand called, "Quixotica. How would you like to go save those silly easterners?"

Quixotica turned around and jumped to her feet. Excitedly, she asked, "Really, you mean you can enter me into that match?!"

Neimand nodded, bemused at her excitement. She was jumping up and down with glee, "Oh, please, let me in now, let me fight!"

Chuckling, Neimand stated simply, "As you wish."

Quixotica looked puzzled for a second, and then a teleportation jolt accompanied by a mechanical "ding" from Neimand's watch sent her to the waiting area.

Quixotica flew, impatient to be let into the ring...

"Boss..." Reishi said, anxiously.
"Right..." she wheeled over close to Reishi's ear, where the earring representing her blade, Kamui was situated, "I hearby allow the release of Kamui, Blade of God for the destruction of one target."
The stone glowed and Reishi reached up and pulled out a glowing light that formed into a truly enormous sword. The blade alone was about six feet long.
"You know how our mediporter technology lets us teleport our gladiators OUT of the arena, right? Well, it's not too far of a stretch to say it works the other way," Annette said, hitting a small button that sent Reishi into the arena.
Reishi was about to prove why they put the limiter in place.
She began by executing a horizontal strike right below the mech's shoulders.
Both arms fell to the ground.
"Name's Tenryuu Reishi!" she announced, "Yoroshiku ne"

"It looks like we have a surprised addition to this little match! Don't worry, it's not another mecha robot, it's Quixotica!! Will her energy engulfed touch be enough to turn the tide of this battle?" said the announcer as a door slid open to let in the new combatant.

-------------

The door to Ryjuta's meeting hall slowly opened, seemingly by itself. Inside was a glowing orb or a shimmering diamond of light hovering near a monitor that showed the ending of the first match.

"What is it you seek, mortal?" the light asked, its brightness pulsating with each syllable.

"Another sword wielder! I guess she's already announced herself but let's hear it for Tenryuu Reishi!" The crowd began to cheer as her blade sliced through each arm.

Before the first arm even fell, the transmitter in the back peeped out for about 4 seconds and the repair function started before the second arm was cut. Soon both arms were being pulled back to their joints and sparks erupted from the metal as it was being quickly fixed.

((And like I said, you say how the robot is attacking you or whatever.))

Quixotica saw the teleporting swordswoman right as the gate opened. Flying forward fast in a huff, she muttered, "Oh, well, there goes my grand entrance." The announcer was too caught up in talking about "Well, folks, what an amazing showing! That swords got to be bigger than most men I know, and that's the famous Tenryuu Reishi! Those of you with an interest know we test a lot of our limiters with her, and she's been a favorite since the beginning!"

'No announcement for me?!' Quixotica thought (she had missed the announcer saying anythig about her because of the sword strike), getting more than a tad annoyed. "I'll show THEM impressive," she grumbled under her breath, reaching the back of the robot's head right as its arms landed on the ground. Focusing as completely as she was able all of her mutant energy into her hands as focus points, she unleased a mighty smash from above that completely plowed the mecha's head into its armored chest. The announcer continued, surprised, "and that mighty blow was from the newcomer Quixotica, folks! But she'd better watch behind her, or that youngling's in for a surprise..."

'YOUNGLING?!?!?!' Quixotica thought, furious. She realized too late the repair tentacles of the robot had reached out to her feet and snagged her. In a mighty toss, she was sent flying toward the arena wall, impacting the wall with a dull 'thud.'

((Just as a reminder: This is an ARMORED mech suit with limited assault and maneuvering abilities. Don't downplay its thick armor *too* much because that, and its repair functions are its most powerful capabilities.))

((The idea isn't that the mech's head was crushed, but that it was driven down. I probably should have clarified. I'm visualizing that the head is actually intact [minus a dent at the top] but that the shoulder connections buckled under the strain, and the head is almost comically 'half-way down' into the body. The idea also being that the repair mechanism can fix it in a second or two, since Quixotica wasn't exactly thinking before attacking...))

((No, what you did was fine. I just wanted to remind everyone. In the other RPs I've been in that had a mecha fight, all my melee characters have been as damaging as misquitos and those weren't even armored ones.

This is just my chance to get some revenge but revenge is more sweet when its something you gotta work for......I just made that up ))

(OOC: Reishi's blade is about as sharp as physically possible and as previously mentioned, with the limiters off she can punch a hole straight through a building...with concentration of course)
She saw the lumbering mecha swing for the other fighters. In a single 'leap', she was in front of them, catching the attacking arm with her hands, her blade driven into the ground next to her.
"Child's play," she said. The only semblance of difficult she had was, even though she was immensely strong, she wasn't immensely heavy, so the mecha's fist stood a chance of knocking her away.

"She's playing," Sae observed from the ballroom, "She's not taking this seriously at all."
"Of course not, you've seen her cut loose...it's not pretty," Annette smirked.

Curore floated outside the door to Ryjuta's gladiator gathering room, knocking again to try and get somebody to answer. If nothing else, he needed to find Ryjuta's whereabouts so he could go talk to him for Neimand...

"Order: Finish her!" Chertak said as he pulled out his sword and swept it around to cut Shinae in half.

"Hey," said Bruno. "Robot face."

"Yeeeeesssssssss?" asked ARC.

"You see that other robot?"

"Yeeeeeeesssssssss."

"Go help kill it."

"Aye aye mon capitan!" said ARC and then it was gone in a flash and a slammed door.

*******************************************

One of the doors to the arena creaked open and suddenly there was a Sky Raider Jump Bot jogging in place right in front of the mecha.

"Dayum but you're big," ARC said as the machine noticed it and brought one fist down to crush the bot.

"Ha ha! You missed!" said ARC as it waved from a position a foot away from the fist.

The mecha replied by swinging its arm around and paused when ARC superspeeded up onto its arm.

"Bam! Zoom! Straight to the moon!" shouted the Jump Bot as it lit its jets, flipped over the mecha, pulled out its assault rifle, and fired a grenade right inbetween the mecha's legs.

"Oooooooo! I got you good!" shouted ARC as it hopped in place and pumped its arms.

"I cannot believe that idiot Hallucinogen lost that fast!" Schizophrenias said, as he floated in midair, somehow watching the battle despite the blindfold and barbed wire tied around his eyes. "He's pathetic. Why can't I go and beat up those losers?"

"It would be cheating," Enrique said behind him. "Cheating is heavily punishable, you know. . ."

"So what?" Schizo said, tossing a thorn into the crowd below him and ignoring the resulting cry of pain. "It's no different from stealing from Arachnos, except they have better security."

"Enough," Enrique said angrily. "I forbid you to interfere. I created you and Hallucinogen, and I hold the power to wipe you from existence. And I will, if it comes to that."

Enrique teleported away, as Schizo repeated what he had said in a childish, mocking tone.

((Sorry I didn't get back on when planned, I got that Saints Row demo today and I was playin it to death, also...is the "Finish Her" thing a joke or is it really happening? If it is....))

Shinae narrowly phase shifted out of the way as Chertaks sword crushed the block of ice. Shinae reappeared about three yards away from the trio, put her sword away, and entered a defensive stance. ((Yeeeaaah...she doesn't really transform, she stances pretty much, so defensive is pretty much, all superspeed dodging and blocking, all matrix style))
