Official Thread for Empowerment stations
*slams head on desk repeatedly*
That's what I think of empowerment stations.

Just so I am clear...because the idea that was put forward by Positron, got changed on the implimentation level (likely so that it would work in the first place) everyone feels that it isn't worth it to them on a personal level?
I'm sorry...but this game is not SWG, it's not EQ, it's not WoW...if people want to play those games, they should play those games.
I do a lot of work to help the SG I am in grow and prosper, and I personally don't like the idea that people want the game made easier to solo. If you want access to the better functions of a base...Join a larger SG.
I do not comprehend why everyone seems to think that this game should be designed around their own personal situation, as opposed to how the Devs can maximize and improve the game in the way that THEY envision it.

I realize this is after the fact...by a bit...but I had to address this. This game is supposed to have been created to give us the feel of being comic book superheroes or cartoon superheroes. Until Justice League Unlimited or with the possible exception of the Legion of Superheroes. What super hero organizations have over 20 active members at one time? Go ahead. Give me a list. That is why it should be made so that groups of 10 or so Supers can get together and form a team and make a difference and what about the host of supers in the comics who have a base of their own and are solo? Batcave anyone? Fortress of Solitude? Okay so this is a computer game. But to be like the Genre it is supposed to emulate and to cater to the players who are the ones looking for that Genre they need to develop according to those lines. Solo play is very Genre like. So is some team play for mega baddies like the TF's and GM's...but it is not normative to the Genre. I would say that if the Fantasy style games are geared to solo they are the ones going against Genre convention not this one.
That is my Rant.

I completely agree. Most super heroes/villains were small groups or solo. Someone who wants to be solo and not deal with the politics of a sg should be able to make his own base and actually be able to use it.

What I find interesting is that these buffs are limited duration right? And the devs claim that travelpowers are not a requirement to play the game (statesman said he has a char without anything but sprint). So tell me, what is the point of anyone without a travel power using an empowerment station, then using the teleporter to go into a hazard zone (terra volta for example) and then needing to run to the far end of independance port. The trip alone will take around 10 minutes so by the time they get to their mission they get only 5 minutes worth of benefit.
God forbid someone wants to get to PI in time for thier mission, taking the route from their base (entering from AP) then out into Dark Astoria, crossing Talos Island to the PI ferry and then making it to the portal corp building.
All of these buffs and not a single temporary travel power....
City of Heroes. You WILL take a travel power... or else.

There is a run speed increase, while I doubt it's on the same level, it'd be interesting to see how well it stacks with sprint...

i tryed that on my 32 tank and i have swift with the single slot and SOs, i found no noticeable difference in speed. if there was it was less than 5% difference which i think would be difficult to notice
edit: i just noticed an earlier post that states it is 2.5% well within my best guess and as i thought unnoticeable
My experience with the 'Grant Invisibility' is that the stealth granted is not effective enough to be worth the salvage cost in PvE. But, since it had no endurance cost and no speed reduction, I suppose it's just a perk for those PvP-heavy SGs who can afford to spend the salvage.
The one hour duration is greatly appreciated: 15 minutes was simply eaten up by travel time.
Finally, while the effects are nearly unnoticable, (increase jump is simply jump distance/speed, correct? a jump height enhancement would be more useful in my opinion) it still feels good to have a temporary inherent bonus.
Better idea: one time click powers.
1. Recovery Aura
2. Regeneration Aura
3. Deflection Shield (for yourself)
4. Fortitude (for yourself)
5. Adrenalin Boost (for yourself)
6. Speed Boost (for yourself)
7. sonic bubbles (for yourself)
Make the empowerment buffs as if a defender was kind enough to give you a little hug before your next fight. Click it once, 90 seconds of Adrenaline boost or 4 minutes of a bubble, have at it.
Hell, even if you gave them 2/3 of what a defender gives, it would be a nice little over the top.
Please give us something worthwhile to spend our salvage on for once.
Hmm need more salvage? I think our sg has filled a couple of the salvage storge at our bases. Will have to go look since I never use the stuff and just drop it off. (main base and two sub bases...we like alts.) The empowerment stations just sound weak and pretty not much worth the time to mess with them.
Life was simpler before I gained some knowledge
What they NEED to do for the empowerment station buffs, is to make it so you can spend the salvage in it, to "enhance" the station. So once you put the salvage into each type of buff, you wont have to ever do it again. That way you put it in once, and thereafter anyone can go use the bonus for free.
Now to offset this unlimited uses, It would have to take more salvage to get it to work in the first place, but no more after that. As it is now the way it works is too much a waste of salvage.
And I forget, do you get buffed immediately? If it does, then it needs to also have it work by granting you a temp power icon, so you can use it whenever you want.

Well, considering the other costs involved in a base, the drop rate of even common salvage is not really 'common'(i.e. lucky to get a couple drops of any salvage per mish), after reading this thread and the total lack of true utility from empowerment stations, not to mention many other aspects of bases, I can definitely say I will not waste my time with them.
Try again devs. This type of content is just not worth it and adds nothing to the game except frustration. Thank you.
(Oh and I might add, through about 8 different SG/VGs I've been in, from small to large, I've yet to see anyone actually have one.)
Empowerment station buffs now last 1 hour and the salvage cost is way down of what's quoted in this thread - the only one I've used enough to remember the recipe is knockback resistance, which is only one material now. Most are about 1/5 to 2/7 of the recipes shown, for a longer duration. It also remains on you after you die and go to the hospital.
They're cheap and easy to place, I see them in a lot of bases lately.
What about the effect itself? You can't stack them and I'm reading these effects are hardly noticeable. 2.5% does not really excite me into placing/asking for one in my SG. Has this increased as well? I've been in multiple SGs and have yet to see an empowerment station.
We have them in my group's bases.
They're useful for refining high-end salvage that you'd normally require an expensive Expert Table for.
Occasionally I'll scroll through the list of buffs but I can never quite bring myself to waste salvage on one.

Some info.
Price on each of the stations, magic and tech, are 15000 prestige. They take no control and no energy. They can craft salvage into The first 4 types of components (Material, Power, Hardware, and Prototype for tech, Element, Foci, Essance, and Glyph for magic)
Here are the powers they grant. I did not have a chance to try them out, not enough components yet. (I will use the tech material cost, magic is the same costs with the matching component. Element <--> Material, Foci <--> Power, Essance <--> Hardware, Glyph <--> Prototype)

There was also, at least on the magic station, the very last tab to the end. It hinted at making a level 2 station, but I could not make it. It said 36 Essance and 12 Foci. The description for the tech equivaliate, however, mentioned something about an item to prevent destruction of base items during raids. Bug or different trees, not sure.
Also, there was a tab in each called 'Invention'. There were 2 receipes, both taking 5 Abberiant Tech and 2 Amulets called 'Enhancement Test' and 'Enhancement Test 2' with a subtitle in each of 'Craftin' Enhancement Test'n'. Again, could not make either of those. Will dupe my character to spawn excess salavge tomorrow to better test.

has anyone compiled any numbers for these yet - any of them..?
