think the only ranged attack that drops toggles is Force Bolt

I gotta have your build then! One I can handle (DP usually sorts me out). A second...maybe. A third. No way.

Unless I'm running Unstoppable. But hell, the penalty for not being safe outside the 3 minutes is like banging an underwater electrical cable with a paddle with a Great White circling nearby.

o.O

I must look at my combat logs more. In THAT case, Blasters have even less reason to call for TDs, since they do bloody well without 'em.

Sorry I disagree whole heartedly (sp?) if your going to remove blaster toggle dropping completly, then your going to have to increase blaster damage to put a hurt on tankers thru all thier def, resistence,hp, and shields.

[/ QUOTE ]

In light of learning only Force Bolt TDs, this makes even less sense to me now. I am convinced Blaster Primaries other than those with Force Bolt are equally as efficient against Tanks.

Wait... Ranged doesn't toggle-drop? But I thought that was one of the Blasters' reasons why they wanted to keep TD in. I'm sure I've been blasted into shut-down....

[/ QUOTE ]

The only ranged toggle droppers are Trip Mine, Timed Bomb, and in the Defender sets.

Blasters want to keep toggledroppers because powersets with ~2 second animation time powers are a bit difficult to keep range with (particularly given that WhirlWind is getting blown away soon). There's also a smaller sentiment that, even if it were possible to kite tankers for long enough to kill them, it wouldn't exactly be fun even compared to the instant death currently existing.

For completion, the hero toggle-dropping powers are as follows :
Inherent: Brawl (33% chance of dropping one toggle)
Blaster: Devices: Time Bomb
Blaster: Devices: Trip Mine
Blaster: Electrical Manipulation: Charged Brawl
Blaster: Electrical Manipulation: Havok Punch
Blaster: Energy Manipulation: Bone Smasher
Blaster: Energy Manipulation: Energy Punch
Blaster: Fire Manipulation: Fire Sword
Blaster: Fire Manipulation: Fire Sword Circle
Blaster: Ice Manipulation: Frozen Fists
Blaster: Ice Manipulation: Ice Sword
Force Field: Force Bolt
Force Field: Repulsion Bomb
Force Field: Repulsion Field
Kinetics: Repel
Peacebringer: White Dwarf Strike
Storm Summoning: Lightning Storm
Storm Summoning: Thunder Clap
Warshade: Black Dwarf Strike

my screen was flashing crits, but only one of them managed to get a AS off, I hit DP before hand and left the zone w/ half my HP bar :P

dammit...lucky punks, I'd trade off some aggro for a toggle drop

Just having Tanker level health gives you enough to survive ~two Assassination Strikes. The real trick is to keep moving fast, so enemies don't get a chance to do the placate/followup.

I still say having AS be unresistable was a damn stupid idea, but that's a topic for a different thread.

I wouldn't. FCS sucks for TDs - by the time the animation is done, chances are you've already gotten mezzed/given the enemy enough time to bring back their toggles.

yeah I would think the first time it came out, two Stalkers, one Claw and one EM, would AS someone and tell each other how much damage they did, and then they "w-t-f? how'd we do the same damage?" convo would come up

edit: okay, take out FCS from my comment ;D

Yeah, I was PvPing for, like, the third ever time the other day when another (/Mace!) tank brought that to my attention. Frackin' hard to fight and keep moving tho! At least for me! LOL

If you don't have support, and are getting clobbered by two stalkers, it's time to get moving and forget about fighting, IMO.

Well, gee, those are excellent numbers.....that discount: range, damage type, un-resistable damage, defiance, epic power pools, resists, defenses, detoggling effects, mez effects, and many other variables.

But...please...go on telling me how the number 1 pvp AT in the game is gimped compared to tankers. I'm gonna go get some popcorn....brb...

[/ QUOTE ]
I'd hardly say Blasters are the #1 AT. Controllers are probably, or maybe Scrappers.

How'd you shrug them off? Aren't Stalker criticals (including AS) unresistable?

And even if you did nothing else but *not die* how does that make you in anyway uber?

Tried that once before. Was called a "cr*p tank" for it. Now I suck it up.

Given that no other AT can survive such a thing, I'd consider it worth noting, at least.

True. But then it is noteworthy that no other AT can do so much damage in a single - unresistable - blow as a Stalker.

Okay, but I fail to see practical benefit from it in this instance.

He survived making a beeline for the door. Woo!

He was able to take two hits in order to mount a successful retreat! Heroic!

I dont believe him, UNLESS he was running dull pain and the 5 stalkers where not actually attempting to AS but to scrap.

Note it has taken only 3 stalkers to almost one shoot my invuln with all shields up, and dull pain with no unstoppable.

Its either a big fat lie or a huge omission of details, and omission of details are also lies in my book.

*raises hand*

Ice tankers can't be AS-ed...or, more precisely, it is extremely difficult to do and a solo or even duo-ed stalkers aren't going to make it happen.

As for the other stuff...DP and hibernate.

Ice is not bothered by stalkers whatsoever. And with FA+Glacial in the 50v50, I'ma go get my stalk-hunt on in i7.

------

Blueyed...wow...way to entirely miss the point. I say "gee your not taking the following things into account to talk about blaster v tank balance"...and you counter by telling me that's not what you're talking about? Then...why did you bring up the comparisons of hp and issues with toggle-dropping?

Let's be honest here...you have little idea of what you're talking about, isn't that right?

Lemme put it this way...Ice/Em is the 2nd best tank for surviving blappers and the best offensively vs them, and still, it's a pretty even fight 1v1 at lvl 50. A granite tank, who could survive longer, really shouldn't be able to get kills vs a skilled blaster.
