Coyote a.k.a. Matthew Bragg.
[ QUOTE ]
The best part (in my opinion) about Cryptic putting Coyote in Outbreak, the didn't make an announcement. The players asked for him to be added and he was. Cryptic didn't milk it for publicity, they just put him in.
That says more to me about the ideals of this company than anything else.

But as stated earlier, Viewers can influence actual entries made into that particular Database, so things like this, well-intentioned as it was... can slip by.

Well, the IMDB lists video games, and the IMDB lists trivia about the entries, so the mention of Matthew Bragg is just fine. Nothing to stress about.

I think they list video games because, especially recently with stuff like the Matrix games, we've seen film makers working on games and vice-versa.

I am Matthew's brother. The man behind Coyote was one of the most kind and helpful people I have ever known. He spent his life working to make things better for others, whether it was on the forums, in the game, as part of the SCA, or just with friends and co-workers. He was a funny, crazy, guy that never failed to give people a laugh when they needed it most. He made quite an impression on people in the forums and in the game.
One of the reasons that I got into this game and continue to pay for 3 subscriptions, is the fact that they care enough about the community that they put my brother in the game that he loved so much.
I hope maybe that gives you some idea of who he is, although I apologize if I am threadjacking, or getting too sappy/maudlin. There should still be posts in the forums about him. I know I have read them all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not maudlin, but more than welcome. Lots of people who come into the game don't know who Coyote is or why he's in the tutorial, so it is very good that this comes up every few months.

On that note, I pm'ed Cuppa asking for this thread to be saved. It'll be linked in the guides section.

I've been checking the IMDB for voice casts on video games as far back as Baldur's Gate and Fallout. Quite a few actors do voice work in video games, which is likely where a lot of it comes from.
Whenever I ran into a voice I thought I recognized, I'd check the IMDB. Sometimes, the voices are surprising (I never expected Mitch Pileggi to portray a Githzerai, but there he was), and often fairly obvious (David Warner as the villain? Who knew?).

I was wondering about that when I started playing Planescape: Torment a few nights back. I was also surprised to see a character who was a dead-ringer for my Brute.
As for Coyote, I don't remember if he was there at the first week of release but he was there in Issue 2, which was when I made my first alt in the live game.
I signed on just before Issue 1 went live. There was a random detective police dude standing where Coyote stands now. Issue 2 brought Coyote, if memory serves, and he has been proudly standing there ever since.

Hey Adar! I know the people at the Safehouse are still thinking about him.

Yes, we are.
In fact, his character is still an officer in our COH SG.
He was a good guy, and will be missed.
I'm glad COH could come up with a small tribute like this for him.

Which has nothing to do with CoH as a production unit. Cryptic doesn't promote or feature known talent-actors doing any voice-over work in that game, nor was that Player ever a known actor in the business. Hence the confusion as to why he's even listed there in the first place. Is he now to be given production-credit because his Forum Avatar and Board-name were suddenly lifted and modeled over an NPC, posthumously?

He isn't given a production credit -- he's just named in a blurb in the "Trivia" section. The only credits given are NCSoft and Cryptic.
Would it be inappropriate to ask how Matthew Bragg died? I'm just curious as to who the man behind Coyote was.
