Nope.. not a mistake.. you go.. you get the perorder box.. you pay 10 bucks.. You will get a form that shows that you bought the perorder.. when the game comes out.. you take that form to the store on the release day (may want to take your recipt too) and they give you your game and you pay for it minus the 10 bucks you drop on preorder.
Anyone know when they will put out the info on what is fianlly going to be included in the CE version?
The CE version isn't even mentioned on the pre-order page of the CoV website
I dont really care about the hero clix i dont thiunk its worth shelling out $30 extra just for that... just more crap to add to the ever growing pile of crap that I already got
I'm also against the gender specific stuff. It gets in the way of a lot of my ideas. Like how none of the guys get shorts to wear, girls can't have the longer, more realistic Hakama (aka Japanese) pants, etc. I think that about 99% of the costume options should be available no matter what your gender, even though a lot of them already are. I also can't stand the helmet issue. Just give everyone, from every store, in every place CoV is sold, ALL OF THEM. One per store is stupid. I bought Guild Wars from Gamestop and got a hammer I NEVER use. This was before I even knew there were different ones for different stores. I would have much preferred to CHOOSE my item myself. I know this issue has been beaten to death already, but I figure the more people that say it, the more NCSoft will (hopefully) consider this, as it seems to bother a lot of people, myself included.
Also, while I'd love a closed beta spot, I want in on the open beta. Any idea what century that will happen?

Least you don't live in the UK. I at least feel safe in the knowledge that I am spared the quandry of having to choose what freebie I want, as I won't get any of them.
*edit* just had a thought... isnt NCsoft Korean? It's commonplace for far east games to have bonus items like this and they're usually always gender specific wherever any character items are concerned. Perhaps that is where it's coming from?

I feel your pain. I've spent ages over the last two weeks trying to find a US store that will ship preorders over here for myself and my four friends. When I started this game there was no choice but to play on the US servers and I've got friends here now I don't want to leave by moving to the euro servers (not to mention a large number of characters). But never being able to get hold of any add ons to the game without jumping through countless hoops is getting old.
And before someone helpfully points out that there will probably be similar pre-order goodies from UK stores, if this is anything like the DVD edition of CoH, those will be for the Euro servers only.

For me personally, I don't care who I pre-order from if it wasn't a matter of special things. I like the Blood Widdow helm, I looked best among the 4...(2 not shown by the time I pre-ordered...<cough>CompUSABestBuy<cough> )

oh no u dont, im pre-ordering at gamestop too, cause im making a female villain. in my opinion, females make the most evil villain lol. at least the ones i have met.
Called gamestop today in Lansing, Michigan. Of course the pre-order boxes are in and have been but I was never called. I seriously won't be doing business with them again after this. They asked for my home phone # and e-mail address to inform me when it came in and it has been in for a few days. Not one call or e-mail. All 3 stores had my info in case only one store here got the stuff. I guess that is what happens when kids run the store. 
My experience with GameStop has always been quite good, but last night was even better.
The manager said I could have one of the pre-order boxes, if I beat him in Paper, Rock, Scissors. First round, we tied. Second, I lost. He said that I could have one, anyhow, since I played along.
So, in the instance I don't get my box from EBGames, I can always use this one. If I do get mine, then my wife can have one without having to buy another game. *cackles*
Nifty, but a more important question. COST
I could not find any mention of the cost of CoV. I am interested in buying it, buuuut I hesitate because no word has been put out regarding cost of multipe accounts. I already have 2, one for me, one for the wife. I do not and more to the point WILL NOT pay for 4. So please please let us know soon and paaaaaaaaallllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasse keep it resonable!! 
I would be interested if it was a few bucks more or an NC Pass for multiple NC soft MMO games for Auto Assault, CoV, CoH etc.
i just wanna know if you get CoV RIGHT away... i know gamestop jacked me on AA as far as shipping my pre-order, but the sites for COV say that it wont ship till like nov 1's one day AFTER the game is out.... thats wack... if ima preorder it ima want beta testing like soon... not in 3 months......
There has been no launch day formally announced. Retailers are speculating on likely dates, so don't expect any logic to it.
Gamestop and Eb are the same company now...
To get possible in game exclusives....do i need to buy the full CE version or is the preorder code sufficient
Lets say i want to get any possible stuff from the CE version but I already bought the normal version.... can i use the normal full version (pre-order) and just upgrade to the CE (using the preorder code provided?)
If not....is there any way to upgrade to CE (what if they come out w/ a bunch of cool exclusives...that are actually worth paying $80).
It kinda sucks that we have no clu what the difference is gonna be and alot of us have already made a decision on which to buy. For me the (at first glance) choice was a no brainer.... what the hell do i need more hero clix for (no 2" toy is worth $30).
I hope my impulsiveness doesnt end up screwing me in the long run.... (I want all I can get)

The in-game helmets are available via the pre-order. There is no indication thus far that CoV CE has any in-game perks associated with it.

Has anyone who oredered from Gamestop got their discs? I seen a few posts reguarding them and I definately don't want to miss out. Should I call my local Gamestop to make sure? Just want to be sure since I've never pre ordered anything before. YES COH HAS CAUSED ME TO PRE-ORDER!!! I'm hooked I admit it.

I think you should... and tell them to check every nook, cranny, dungeon, and cabinets for the pre-order bonus... because it would seem that many stores are quite clueless as to City of Villains.
Also, don't get your hopes up on anything SUPER L337 C00L, because it's just a nifty little bonus. Nothing too huge, until they start allowing Pre-orders to get into Beta (which won't be for a while) or just before the game goes Live.
All it leads to is more waiting. *cackles*

The story so far:
Have preordered 2 from EB (nothing arrived yet), 1 from Gamestop (CE) - box (which makes no indication of CE contents) and disk arrived and preregistered though no response email , assuming the reply will be when beta invite comes (any devs wanna correct this - if we were supposed to get a confirmation email nothing came), and 1 walk-in at BestBuy - box and disk and preregistered (again no confirmation email). Gamestop and one EB for my fiancee for two of her accounts, and EB and BestBuy for my accounts.
As to expectations: 0. Beta will be fun and all, special helmets will be niceish specially for my fashion concious angel, and a headstart would be helpful, but I can pretty much live without any of them. As it stands, I'll have the game for when it starts with no worries about not being able to find a copy. And THAT is why preorder. If the rest of the promises about it hold up, YAY, but at the base of it, I will be able to start playing off the bat.
Again, if I can get a dev response on how the preorder registration is supposed to work, that would be keen. Wasn't expecting an immediate beta invite, but didn't get any sort of response when we upgraded, and I think it said something about an email at some point.

Another complaint- Scratching off for the serial number. Scratching on the plastic it's painted on is difficult enough without gouging, but the number is so small too. I can barely read mine.

when my husband finally got it off, it made half of the letters unreadable and the ink actually smeared. But the people at CS was nice enough to help and get that code for him.

I got my pre-order in the mail, and I ordered from EBGames. While it took a bit, I did get the code and went in right the first time. I too am waiting for an email conformation that it is "active"
That scratch off screwed me over as well. Tried different variations of the code and just couldn't get it right. I ended contacting Technical Support, and they had me type in as much of the code as possible and/or attach a scanned picture of the registration code on the sleeve. Once that was done TS sent me the correct code, and I was happy.
Also, no confirmation email was received either.
I just curious on the date that you ordered it from EBGames because I pre-ordered it 8-15 and still have gotten nothing in the mail. Just wondering how long it took for you to get it in the mail.

On the Topic of Gamestop.com Pre-order by going into the store.
I ordered Before they had Boxes, later I Showed them my receipt-stub and got a Box...Oddly they did ever mark anything off or Take my Stub. So I'm guessing I could get another if I really wanted.
So if anyone did the same, might as well get a 2nd or 3rd Box for a Friend.
